Being a negative to the TEAM will hurt him. However, he is on the precipice of being a major star. He puts up video game numbers. Why not make him the go to guy?

In the end, I always favor the team over the player. Watching a cohesive team get IT is special, a la the 2004 Pistons. He will figure it out. He just needs a few games of destroying people to get his nut off.

Because that's not his game and he's not the best offensive player(scoring or passing) on the team

Dumping the ball into the post so he can get some buckets doesn't require a massive offensive skill set. Getting him 10+ shots a game wouldn't be an outlandish idea. He's going to convert 60+ percent of those baskets and cause the other team to get in foul trouble. What you don't want to do is rein him in too much. He'll resent that, as would any player who hasn't made his mark on the league yet, and has something to prove. My original point does state that I see both sides of the story though, so its not like I'm on a soap box begging for Hassan to get shots. I just don't see how that could hurt us.

go to guy means 1st option 9 times out of 10.

I have no problem getting him getting 10 shots

I wonder why he was emotional and pouting. Jefferson hits a couple shots and spo benched him for ages. Pouting? Im impressed he didn't get up and leave to the locker room. He played 4 freaking minutes. Benched him for Haslem. HASLEM!

On top of that he BARELY ever gets the damn ball. Wade is the only guy that passes it to him. W.e, im not gonna continue this. It was the first game, just know that if this trend continues, Hassan is not gonna be here next year. And I wouldn't blame him one bit, just as I don't blame Lebron.

Friday its the cavs, they have slow 7 footers. Lets see if Hassan gets benched against the cavs. Then I will really start to worry.

Eh, its the first game. Remember last year Spo trusted Shabazz late in games at the start of the season.

• Gerald is a long, athletic, aggressive, explosive, 9-year NBA vet who is very good at the game of basketball
• Shabazz is none of the above...

Green had 1 good season. Lets be honest.

I get what you're saying and I get what Bourne is saying -if a bit extreme. Riley did say that he wants Hassan to demand the ball...I do recall that statement.

It's only one game but I can see where things might start to spiral out of control. If they want Hassan to improve mentally, keeping him from playing does nothing but hurt the team. If they can't handle him, trade him. But let's see where this goes.

Contract year for Whiteside. He wants the ball and he wants numbers. As a fan I see the team first point. However every dominant big except for maybe Tim Duncan complains about not getting the ball enough. Zo did it. Shaq did it, Dwight Howard , point is bigs want the ball on offense probably more than other players. I think we can win big if we keep the big man happy.
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

So Hassan has earned the right to demand the ball like Zo, Shaq and Dwight? :-?

Hassan got a couple of touches down low and blew them. He couldn't guard Jefferson in the first quarter and his help-side defense, especially up top, was poor. The match-up for him wasn't great, as Charlotte mostly has mobile, face-up type of bigs that can give us problems on the defense when Whiteside is being moved around. On top of that, he played poorly and was rightfully benched in favor of Haslem, who did well. If he plays well and gets benched, you can complain, but he was our worst player tonight.

Green had 1 good season. Lets be honest.

Gerald Green "today" is a very good basketball player with one previous good season that will ultimately be better than anything Shabazz puts up in his career. If Green continues to be utilized effectively this year, he'll have another good season.

Spo's been relying on Green, from preseason through last night's game, because he prefers vets and loves the fact that Green's length at two-guard, athleticism, and instant offense have added a dynamic he's never had off the bench since he became head coach.

Shabazz is inexperienced, short, mediocre athletically, and a defensive liability who has difficulty finishing at the rim... the polar opposite of Green.

The more concerning thing about Whiteside for me, wasn't that he was pouting in his seat after he was benched, but rather how he was while on the court. There was 1 play in particular where Hassan was on the left block trying to post up and Dragic was bringing the ball up. Dragic saw him with his hands raised, but swung the ball to the right because I don't think Hassan was set yet. And immediately he threw his hands up in disgust and turned away from the basketball. In the middle of the play :banghead:

Overall, nice team win though. And boy did I enjoy Winslow throw it down .. that scream after, gave me chills :D

Sure, even The DON agrees, 1:37 onwards.

Kind of mystifying how Wade is the ONLY player that can actually get Hassan the ball.

Feels good to be back man. Haven't had much time to browse or post on RealGM lately.

Man, y'all can argue about Whiteside I am just happy the team won and actually looked good yesterday. We finally have depth. After watching the crap in 2015, I am just happy to see Dragic, Wade, Bosh, and Winslow together on the floor.

On Whiteside, dude needs to get better mentally and not pout like a girl. He can make us a great team but you gotta be involved all the time. I mean with Bron and Wade here Bosh went from a 1st option to a 3rd option, shut up, played defense and didn't get upset when he would play games with less than <10 shots. And Bosh was Bosh, Hassan is still trying to prove himself. You just gotta roll with the punches.

Anyway, I am very excited about this season. Let's hope Wade can stay healthy.

Funny how everyone is talking smack about Whiteside, but don't even see the point. Would Spo ever bench Wade, Bosh, and even Chalmers for some of the ish Hassan does? I'll wait.
