Upperclass wrote:Nothing in that video was impressive imo. Has above average vision for his height/position, but he made some basic plays and his teammates were making shots. He's a talent.. but he is more Lamar Odom, than he is anywhere near LeBron or Magic. He also has an average handle and what appears to be average quickness.

"Above Average vision for his height" do you realise he is 6'10 and 240? Tell me a SF/PF that Big who can pass like that other than Lebron?

Please go watch more of him.. maybe even a whole Game.. he has great handles for his size and outruns even PGs in transition.

This Video is only good to see his vision and a nice post up game.

Look at this Video for example: You see his speed, his handles and its also a sign of the improvements on his jumper he made:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJiuPhRkxRY

Also i read in an article the nice statement about Ben: " Simmons is something entirely different and refreshing that doesn't fully come across in a mix tape."

He doesnt look always super flashy maybe exept for his passes. But make no mistake and think because he sometimes seems to have a "boring" game that he isnt an elite athlete. The 41' Vertical now has been reported on two different occasions(Hoops summit and LSU combine). And for a guy his size if you watch him in transition everyone can see how fast, agile etc he is.

He is also ambidextreus wich is a underrated thing.

Oh and BTW even if he where "just" Lamar Odom. He reportetly has Kobe Bryant like work ethic and will to win

Imagine Lamar Odom with Kobes Head and Heart... that is still a surefire HOFmer and a scary thought^^

I yhink Ben was in cruise control in that combine. My opinion is he was letting some of his team-mates show there wares in front of the scouts

I think it's hard for a guy as big as he is to create his own shot from the perimeter - it's just hard for a guy like him to find the lanes. Now, because of his skill-set, he's able to create, he's a good finisher with both hands, and he can get shots for others, but in terms of becoming a go-to scorer, the jumper and/or post-game could do with more development.

He's an exceptional talent that lets the game come to him, but as he develops it'd be nice to see a go-to move and the jumper to help stretch those driving lanes out a bit more.

The photo which he posted with his 41" vertical didn't seem like a 41" vertical if I'm being honest.

His Standing Reach only measured at 8"7 for the Hoop Summit this year, compared to 9'0.5" at LSU. I can't trust LSU's combine given that he's apparently one of the quickest players of all time in the sprints. If I were a betting man, I'd add a few inches to his Hoop Summit standing reach and hence take a few inches away from that same hoop summit 41" vertical.

Either way, he is an exceptional athlete though and has incredible acceleration and speed (given his size) in the open court.

Speed > Hops, and Ben has that (as well as good hops).

He could be a helluva mismatch at the 4 in the NBA. Really looking forward to his college season.

I guess that's a decent stat line. I mean if you want somebody on your team that does everything. But only if you're into that sort of thing.

Uh, wow. His quickness and speed really is impressive. I know most are skeptical of the LSU combine numbers but his quickness is one of the first things that jumped out at me. Combine that with a versatile skillset on both sides of the ball. Wow.

He's a great prospect but I do see some weaknesses.

He's quick and fast but can't jump high. That, paired with his short wingspan and standing reaching I could see him struggle to finish in the NBA. He got blocked at the rim a couple times by a scrub team.

Now the 2 known Verticals that are known from him are 41 and 41.5' I would not call that "cant jump high" He does not always jumps as high as he can.

Also he has not "short" wingspan and reach. just average, slightly above average for his size.

Its funny how anything that isnt superhumanly elite seems to be an automatic weakness

Doesn't seem like he has the length, short area vertical to be a dominant low post player in the NBA. Other then that...it seems like he can pretty much do it all. Awesome handle and passer for his size.

Just out of curiousity why are so many trying to find the Post Player in Ben?
Because of his Height? or not yet good enough but improving jumper?

In almost every aspect he is Lebron light.

Elite Athlete for his height in terms of speed, jumping, coordination
Very good Ball Handling for his size
Generational BBIQ,Vision and Passing for his size
NBA ready body, extremly strong for his age
NBA Range and not broken jumper but still needs to improve alot in terms of shooting
Unselfish sometimes to a fault. He tries to make the right play instead of forcing the issue on his own
Shows promise to be a great defender on the ball and as a Team defender, has still alot to learn on defense but is willing.

Now who did i just describe? Lebron fresh out of Highschool or Ben fresh out of Highschool?
Of course Lebron is at least 1 step ahead of Ben in many of those things but Ben still is elite at them. He is just not at that silly Level as Prime Lebron.

Ben even has studied Lebrons moves you can see it when you watch a whole game.
They are almost as simillar as Kobe and MJ.

I stand by my belief that Ben will be to Lebron what Kobe is to MJ.
I think he will end up beeing a 21/8/6(Ben is a better rebounder than Lebron at the same age) for his career and peak at a couple of 26/9/7 years

Just something that stood out in the video and a lot of people think he's a 4. I don't really disagree with anything you have to say though.

Ben doesn't go up as hard as he could sometimes. He likes to finesse occasionally which I don't really like. I think he could and can go up stronger but he's been so much better than everyone else for so long that I think he does actually take it too easy sometimes.
Someone said he's lazy, takes plays off on defense etc. True enough but I think being his teams primary scorer in HS as well as main ball handler meant he needed to be in the game. I can forgive him for taking the occasional play off, although again id rather he didn't. However I like the effort he puts in on D, especially since the exhibition schedule began. You can see from those highlights, he's very good at sneaking up on guys, making blocks and steals out of nowhere. He reads the play well and knows where to be. I like his defensive potential.

he's easily the #1 pick in the 2016 Draft if he just does what he's supposed to do.
