I'm about ready to give up on MKG. He can't catch a break.

Re: Motor Keeps Going: The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread III
thats pretty cool. could be a big help later when he gets back. this season might be a blessing in disguise for him, gives him time to heal from all his other injuries and watching all that tape should make him a smarter player.
good to see he is doing some exercises now, should be ready to go and better than ever for next season.

Re: Motor Keeps Going: The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread III
"Things where, if I were on the court, I would (mention) the effort baskets we aren’t getting or the fast breaks we’re not getting," Kidd-Gilchrist said of the feedback he offers. "Trying to (maintain) that pace on the floor. We’re not always getting that right now, but I hope we’ll find it somewhere."

Re: Motor Keeps Going: The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread III
So it definitely sounds like MKG is officially out for the season? I was holding out hope that he'd be able to heal quickly and play by late March and help us in the playoffs if we get there, but it doesn't appear to be the case.
I think it's really cool that MKG is learning during all of this. Not every day a 22-year-old can basically play the role of a scout/coach. Could be a good thing for him long-term- especially if he's healthy all summer and can use what he's learned in order to round out his game before next season starts.

Ewing's interviews are nearly as painful as MKG's.

Definitely not a blessing in disguise. But pretty cool.

I'm glad the coaches are doing this with him. He's going to come back a much smarter player after this season.

Is MKG the elephant in the room right now?
What would the Hornets offense look like right now if MKG was healthy?
Is our much improved offense greatly enhanced by not having MKG out there wrecking spacing?
How do you play 4 out, 1 in offense with MKG is in the lineup?
Should I ban myself for speaking ill of the injured man in the love dome?
Should we bring MKG off the bench next year when he returns?

I honestly wonder sometimes if Cliff wants to keep PJ in the starting lineup because he wants the starting lineup to get used to playing with someone like MKG, and Cliff is holding out hope that MKG returns early.
No one would benefit more from open driving lanes than MKG IMO.
I would be more likely to say MKG would hurt our offensive production if we were getting better production out of PJ and knew how much MKG had developed his game over the summer.
It's almost like a Kelvin Benjamin situation.

Re: Motor Keeps Going: The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread III
As much as PJ sucks, and I cant understand why teams even try to guard him out to the 3pt line (i'd take my chances), it does seem like he at the very least spaces the floor some for the starters. How much different would that offense look, spacing wise, with MKG in PJs place? Seems like, at the very least, MKG's man would be leaving him and have one foot in the paint to help.

Re: Motor Keeps Going: The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread III
Perhaps, but MKG is on an entirely different level driving to the basket and facilitating offense off the dribble. He also had a very respectable midrange game last season, and there's no reason to think that he wouldn't build on that over the offseason.
It's a fair question, but it's tough to say either way because his game was very much a work in progress and now we are in a system that does a much better job catering to his strengths. It's a shame we didn't even get to see how he fit in a single game before he went down.

These are good questions I didnt want to be the one to ask but im glad someone did. If we make the playoffs and he is cleared to play around the same time do we put him back in the lineup and potentially ruin the chemistry and game plan from the whole season or just let him rest until next season.

This year would have been a growing process, but next year it will be a great fit. He and Cody won't play much together - assuming Cody is on the team - but that's fine. The end game is MKG, Batum, and Frank in the frontcourt. As is with Lamb and Kemba you could switch the hell out of almost everything, still rebound, and play 4 out.
Essentially the same group that closed Sacramento but on steroids.
