Yep, and hired Trotz as Coach, and the Caps are now 1st in their division and primed for another title run.

Not saying it would happen the same with the Wiz, we don't have anyone as good as Ovechkin is, but we need some fresh perspectives. Some creative dynamic outside the box minds.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

Gotta give credit where it's due. In Ryan Hollins, Grunfeld and his staff have found a veteran big man who is reasonably likely to be more productive than Eric Maynor was for the Wizards.

My god, how is this awful man still in charge of the Washington Wizards basketball operations.

WTF have we done to deserve this? The kicker, it's probably going to get worse when Grunfeld executes yet another series of panic moves when Durant wisely decides to avoid this train wreck of a franchise.

Complain, complain, complain. Signing Luol Deng, Evan Turner, and Jeff Green added depth, versatility and veteran presence. They can all play multiple positions on both ends. They know how to play.

I think I may have finally cracked the code.

EG must have a severance agreement with Ted that kicks in a pay out should he ever be fired.

This move -- Martell gifting him a roster spot that he could use to pull in a young big with upside -- is clear evidence that he is TRYING to get fired.

I respect Leonsis for being the kind of owner who leaves it to his "basketball people" to make basketball decisions. Problem is, he clearly has no "basketball people" on staff.

Serious question though. We have a pretty good PG, a pretty good SG, a pretty good SF, a pretty good C.

Nene was a pretty decent F for a while but now we have nothing at that position. NOTHING.

What are our options at F if we can't get Durant to sign?

Terrence Jones and Donatas Motiejunas are both RFA's and Houston is unlikely to pay big money to keep both of them since they have Clint Capella. Those are the two best youngish PF prospects out there. Horford is another obvious option but I don't consider him obtainable.

I'd argue that the only positions that are settled are PG and SF at this point. Wall mostly because of his contract, and Porter because he's starting to live up to his potential.

To me Gortat seems like a poor fit. We're not featuring the position to make him effective on offense, and he doesn't provide us with enough rebounding and defense to be a difference maker on the other end.

Washington would be much better of with a 5 in the mold of Tyson Chandler and with the long term strictly in mind, I'd probably entertain a deal with the Kings that would send Beal their way for an unprotected pick, filler and Cauli-Stein.

I'd rather not spend damn near $24 million on Beal while we wait to figure out if he can ever be more than a catch and shoot scorer.

He had so many opportunities, what makes you think it'll happen now, or anytime soon?

Part of the reason why I'm far more disappointed with Leonsis as an owner than with Grunfeld as a GM.

It was more of a rhetorical question from an extremely frustrated fan. I have never seen a GM win so little and continue to miss so many opportunities...but still keep his job. I know some will disagree, but I actually prefer Snyder to Terd :dontknow:

I think the problem with our roster is they are all exactly worth what they are paid. To be successful in the NBA you need to pay people less than what they are worth. Like Lebron or KG - these guys are worth about $50 million a year or so but the salary structure forces them to take half what they are worth.

Picking up a guy like Hollins over a guy like Sims a GT guy mind you. Might be one of the stupidest things EG has done since drafting Jan. This man needs fired, bring in Kenny Smith, Shaq, Magic, Micheele bedle, justin beiber, floyd mayweather, trump, the hobo at your local mall, any one would be better than EG. But in all seriousness, Kenny Smith would not be a bad GM, I would love to get him in here of EG, He would in no way sign Ryan Hollins off the street.

Henry Sims couldn't even make the Sixers.. is he really that good? Apparently the Suns waived him in training camp to keep some guy named Cory Jefferson (?)

On a sidenote, I used to see Sims at open gyms a couple years back in the Columbia area, I remember him talking about how he was getting recruited to Georgetown. He was very slow and awkward then, and watching him on the Sixers last year that hasn't changed. There isn't much 'athletic' upside there, he's just a guy.

We're talking about a comparison with Ryan F. Hollins. We KNOW Hollins is terrible -- he's been terrible for nearly a decade in the NBA. Instead of signing an older player who's terrible, why not try a younger player who MIGHT be decent? I mean, maybe Sims would be terrible too. But at least we don't know for sure he's going to be terrible. (And psst: In his three seasons in the NBA, slow and unathletic Henry Sims has been more productive at his worst than Hollins has been at his best.)

If this was poker, Grunfeld just bought an unsuited 7-2 hand, I guess because he knows the hand. The correct move would be to take a random hand for the same money. Of course, since we're talking Grunfeld, he probably doesn't know he just bought a 7-2 unsuited. He might actually think Hollins isn't terrible.

I just pictured Grunfeld unsuited. ie. ripping his suit off magic mike style.

They did not extend him a QO probably because they knew he would not take it, because why the hell would he want to stay there. He rebounds well and has a decent offensive skill set. Is he super athletic, no, will he blow you away, now. But he will play good solid, defense. he will put in effort, and he will get you rebounds and points in the paint. He is worlds better than Ryan Holllins. Lets not even get any where near defending this terrible signing. I've been tweeting at Ted all day spitting hot fire about this. i doubt anything will come of it though.

Not sure if you're trolling or not, but

1) Noel's value is on defense
2) He plays with arguably the worst supporting cast in history. You really think he should be expected to have good numbers?
