Gauging Value: PJ Tucker

Post#1 » by bondom34 » Mon Dec 7, 2015 2:37 pm

I really think Tucker would be a great fit as a wing off the bench or spot starting for OKC.

So is package of McGary and some other additional asset enough? I'm mostly trying to gauge value because I don't really know how highly PHX values him or what they'd want.

When the Suns will be out of the play-off hunt (probably sooner than later) it seems logical that Tucker will be available.

Tucker, Goodwin for Novak, Payne?

Yeah, if its costing Payne, nevermind.

If Payne is indeed too much, then Tucker, Jefferson (Cotton waived) for McGary, Huestis and Novak comes to my mind.

Raps have a few picks/prospects, i think Tucker would be a good fit for them as a 2/3 off the bench and smallball 4, what would the suns be looking for?

No way, that the Suns take Ross' contract.

JJ+pick (2017 clips, 2016 raps, or 2017 raps) for PJ?

That also makes sense.

Patterson and 2017 2nd for Tucker and 2016 Cleveland 1st (24-30 projected)

Raps need Tucker while Carroll is out and JJ can play at the 4 behind Scola.

Suns get further shooting at the 4 spot while Warren, Weems and Teletovic can play the 3.

Lowry/Joseph/Wright
DeRozan/Powell
Ross/Tucker/Caboclo/Caroll
Scola/Johnson/Bennett
Biyombo/Noguiera/Valinciunas

Bledsoe/Price/Cotton
Knight/Booker/Goodwin
Warren/Teletovic/Weems
Morris/Patterson/Jefferson
Chandler/Len/Leuer

Without the picks I can see the Suns taking this offer if they deal Markieff in a separate deal like Markieff for Humphries, Gooden, WAS' 2016 1st rounder (top10-12 protected).

Tucker 8.2 PER hasn't huge value & Markieff Morris 9.5 PER for Patterson & Ross at least Ross has some potential upside.

I've always liked Tucker but I don't know if he has much value - he's 30, he's averaging 6 & 5 on the worst shooting percentages of his career. I don't know that you can get a 1st for him.

I wouldn't mind having him on the Pacers, but we won't give you our 1st. Budinger, Solo Hill & 2 2nds is the limit for us.

That doesn't bring any benefit for the Suns, they would rather keep Tucker.

About Tucker: he is trying hard but things just don't go well for him. I doubt that he declined suddenly, he is probably still the same player, just hasn't found his former himself, yet.

It's encouraging that for 10 mil. annual salary Ross even has some potential upside, but even based on his best season he seems (heavily) overpaid.

I don't think I would give up much of anything for him. I'm not a fan of his game over a lot of other guys, and he seems like he's a liability to go off the rails at any point. I just think the downside potential is greater than any possible upside.

It's great to hear that they can net more than Cameron Payne.
