Nigel Hayes

Post#1 » by bucknut » Wed Mar 18, 2015 7:27 am

I think this boy will have a better career than Kaminsky

Draymond Green Carl Landry type

I think he has Landry's post game/mid range and the defensive prowess/3 point range of Green.

No joke here. Like Green great great hands and very good at steals. Great feet, can score off the dribble, but more efficient shooter and better inside scorer with better post moves than Green ever was.

Hayes looks like the kind of guy who could have a good career as a role player, three-and-D type guy. Thing is, he'll probably return to Wisconsin for his senior year unless his stock explodes during the tournament. Even then, he'll probably return.

I watch every badgers game and Hayes is probably my favorite player on the team, worked really hard on that jumper and it showed this year.. has a good first step, and yes hes very skilled in the post.. he's about 6'8 250 lbs but a pretty ripped 250 lbs.. i like his chances in the NBA over sam dekker for sure.

Yeah, true, my bad. He'll return for his junior year (and maybe his senior year as well :D ).

What does everyone think of his game this year? He's shown that he's capable of making plays but his efficiency has plummeted. I still think he will be a late 1st round pick due to the Draymond comparison, but he's not rebounding very well either.

This year he's averaging 16 PPG,6 RPG,4 APG with 2 turnovers per game. His TS is down from 60% in 2014-15 to 49% in 2015-16 and his PER is down from 23 in 2014-15 to 20.5 in 2015-16 despite his usage increasing 5% from sophomore to junior season.

His 3 point shooting is down from 39.6% on 2.5 attempts per game his sophomore season to 28.6% on 3.5 attempts per game this season. I think he is getting exposed a bit this season because he is surrounded by much less talent. His 3 ball needs to be much better than this if he's going to be effective on the next level.

I have Nigel Hayes on my all conference second team based on his overall raw numbers but I could be persuaded to have him lower than that...he's struggled much more than I'd anticipated and it shows in his shooting percentage.

It's hard for me to like him at the NBA level, maybe he needs to stay one more year and get stronger under the rim.

He's not going to get any more explosive and strong under the rim at this point. He needs to keep working on developing his perimeter skills to the point where he can primarily play the 3 and be a situational small ball 4.

Then the Green comparison needs to vbe thrown out the window.

I kinda get the Draymond comparison, Hayes is an undersized 4 (by NBA standards), he's got range and he can handle the ball. But I really doubt that he'll have the type of impact that Dray has on the defensive end.

He'll be a late 1st rounder but I doubt he comes out this year unless his stock explodes during the Tourney. The only thing that worries me about him is his rebounding, a guy with his body should be dominating the defensive glass.

If players were only drafted for their bodies anymore he might be a first round pick, but I seriously doubt anyone picks him in the first round. Usually first rounders are guys that teams can commit to right away and he's a major project. He's a second rounder.

The change in his release has ruined his jumper.

I'm kinda hoping LA gets this kid at 32. I see a tough solid role player for many years. Good kid and plays smart

No chance he comes out this year after the season he's had and where he'll likely be projected.

He's a junior and he's shooting under 40% from the field. In attempt to speed up the release on his jumpshot he reworked everything which has caused his percentages to plummet.

49.7/39.6/74.4 to 38.6/32.4/73.6

He'll be staying, which I don't have a problem with at all, but I'm biased. 8-)
