I'm halfway through the podcast and it is pretty boring. The movement coach might have some good stuff in practice but man is it boring to listen to. Some BS about having stronger feet blah blah. It probably works but it just isn't an interesting topic to talk about.

I heard a rumor that Chael Sonnen might make a comeback in the WSOF this year.

So I just assumed the kid in the video was Sage Northcutt (lol), but someone posted the full video on Facebook (ridiculous, btw), and I tried Googling it, but couldn't find anything.

What actually happened here?

Does anyone know when/if Jones is supposed to come back? Or have any info on him at all?
Seems like I haven't heard much about him in a long time.

sounds like BJJ Scout had a number of his videos taken down due to Zuffa copyright claims.

Chael says there's a card in the works that features two UFC hall of famers in a MMA match, himself and someone else in a grappling match, two huge names in a pro wrestling match, and one of the biggest boxers of all time in a boxing match. My audio cut out for a bit but I think he said Rampage was one of the names considered for the card, but couldn't get Viacom to approve it.

Chael and another big name for grappling
Hogan/Goldberg
Dunno about boxing... maybe Tyson? Roy Jones?
And the two HOFers... Shamrock, Severn, Couture... probably two of them... not sure who isn't on good terms with UFC

Was looking into RoadFC for the Bendo thread and saw this...

http://mmajunkie.com/2015/12/south-korea-based-road-fc-bails-on-10-point-must-scoring-for-unlimited-points-system

The new scoring criteria at ROAD FC events includes:

A) 1 point awarded for each:

Clear connecting strike (legal punch, kick, knee)
Successful takedown
Achieving full mount or back mount position
Clear control in ground position
Near submission
Clear aggression

B) 5 points awarded for each:

Clear connecting strike (legal punch, kick, knee) that knocks down opponent
Slam that causes damage

C) 5 points deducted for each yellow card penalty (per referee)

Use or attempted use of an illegal technique
Second strike to the groin, intentional or non-intentional
Deliberate attempt to halt bout

D) 2 points deducted for blue card penalty (per referee)

Deliberate failure to engage in striking
Deliberate stalling in a grounded position by holding

They just had an event, which presumably was under this system. Might be worth checking out just to see how it went. Don't know if this is the solution to the 10-point-must system, but it's interesting.

I like that they have specific actions that would score points rather than just "effective striking" or "effective grappling". I also like the point deduction for deliberate stalling in a grounded position by holding as this would affect both the fighter in top control and the fighter on the bottom. This would force fighters in whatever position to either go for offense or try and escape.

They couldn't even make this work for Olympic boxing with a far simpler system. That out of the way...

What is "Clear aggression" that gets a point? And is there a point per certain amount of ground control? And I guess "strikes" count, say punches to the side on the ground that aren't included in what Fight Metric calls "significant strikes"?

What's to keep a good wrestler from taking someone down, letting them up, taking them down, letting them up, etc. People will game the system just like they do with the hands down = grounded opponent now. I hate it.

I was wondering if you could go from mount to half guard to mount to half guard to mount...

Yep, playing the game. You see it in jiu jitsu tournaments all the time where positions/movements are awarded points like this. This brown belt, can't think of his name atm, used to have this omoplata series that he would use, he'd sweep using omoplata then just roll back to the bottom while holding the same grips and sweep again with the same thing, over and over while scoring sweep points. It goes against the spirit of the rules/competition, but people always find a way to game the system / exploit rules.

edit: At least its happening in a promotion that I don't watch, so there is no risk but I guess some chance of reward, even if unlikely.

Brendan Schaub, in the past few weeks, off the top of my head: "[Joe Silva] is a cobra. Built like a mouse, but a cobra." "[Joe Silva], maybe he just needs an ass whooping". Etc.

Many other shots over the past few eps.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.
