The hype around some of these rap albums is more interesting than the albums themselves. I stopped taking Kanye seriously as a music artist about two or three albums ago.

He took no more parties in LA off the album... Just sayin.

Honestly, music has gotten significantly worse across the board through the years.

I used to love hip hop so much man. I just cant do it anymore. To all you aspiring rappers out there,... im going to give you the formula on how to sell your record.

First, Lie. Pretend you're already successful wealthy and powerful. Music video and promotion companies already have hookers, houses, cars, and clothes available that you can use for photo shoots and videos. So they make it easy for you to pretend to be something you're not.

Second, say and do stupid ****. The dumber the better. Be annoying. People tend to pay more attention to and talk more about things that give them negative feelings. So if you say something stupid,... more people will talk about how stupid it was. And more people will tune in to see if it is really as stupid as everyone is saying. This will give you a following of "haters". Thats good. You want that. Its free promotion and eventually it will find its way to people who like it.

Third, Start a "beef" with someone who is established. Choose wisely. Someone who has a large following and is affiliated with other famous people works best. Make sure its someone who is on an equal or lesser level with your talent or the talent of your writers just in case in comes to songs. Fans just cant help themselves when it comes to "beefs".

Forth, call yourself the best. You can say you are one of the greatest of all time. The best new comer. The greatest. Top 10. That your album is the best ever. What ever it is, just make sure that you make the claim that you are in some way the best. For some reason fans cant help themselves with this either. The minute you make this claim, people are going to line up to buy your album. They're going to want to validate your claim. Most fans do not want to be disappointed. Most people wont admit they got tricked out of money. So they're going to give you more credit than you deserve on initial reviews because you said you're the best. Even though you're not,... you'll end up being viewed better than you really are.

Fifth is the most important. Dont over complicate your music. Put all your effort into the above 4 steps. Make sure the music is very simple. Catchy and clever is more important than being creative. You want it to be simple to follow and get stuck in peoples heads. Think of a child singing the wheels on the bus. These are the songs that get the most air play. So its going to be important that you dont stray away too far from the way everyone else sounds. Remember, the music business wants more of the same. Not something different. Different flops more times than not. More of the same is the safest way to make money.

Mainstream music has been pretty bad for quite some time. Underground/indie music still has its moments but has also declined in quality in my opinion in comparison to its past.

Indie is ass as well in many regards. Indie music has mad cheesy elements to it now. Everyone who dont have a deal is indie....and there is whole bunch of wack Mix Tapes/Abums being made by rappers. Everybody is running around saying "listen to my mix tape"

I totally agree, just Not as much as there used to be. Did you know that in our current market for music, older music is actually outselling new music? I think that speaks volumes.

He can record himself taking a dump and Pitchfork /all the other hipster music critics will give it 10/10 stars. I'll give it a listen, but if it's anything like Yeezus then it's not for me. I still bump his old stuff though.
