CeltsfanSinceBirth wrote:Couldn't have been Cousins. Why would Sacramento scramble to try and get Gasol if they were just going to deal away Cousins? That makes zero sense.

Couple of things:

1.) It's possible they tried to nab Gasol AFTER a potential Cousins deal fell through;

2.) It's Sacramento. Would you seriously put that past them? Them going after Pau was stupid regardless of the situation.

And no one else outside of the main guys that were discussed would make sense in the traditional sense. Butler and George would be every bit as senseless as Cousins.

And do what with Rose? They literally just paid Butler a max contract months ago. They brought in a new coach. No way are they looking to move him and go full tank. Makes no sense. Especially for a pick that hasn't even been determined yet. BK is a 3 game win streak from being in the 5th spot and it can fall even further on lottery night. Gasol made a bit of sense. Butler is hurt and this season may not be as competitive as they hoped. Plus Gasol is an upcoming FREE AGENT. Move an all star with 5 years left on his deal?? That's Billy King bad. Now, if the Nets pick lands top 2, then Bulls will come-a-knocking.

*cracks fingers* But Danny probably has a deal discussed for every possible scenario of the BK 16 pick. Trades discussed for every possible outcome on lottery night. For him to say something was close keeps the fans excited and upbeat. This is a business.

Interesting LBF. If it is I wouldn't include the 2016 Nets pick for him. We stars that can lure other stars to the Celtics. I don't see Butler doing that.

Rose comes off the books next year. And if you've been paying attention, Butler isn't exactly the biggest fan of Fred Hoiberg.

You're underrating Butler. The dude is the best 2-guard in the league.

That fits- Chicago's in some turmoil. Probably Avery or another guard, the 2016 BRK pick, Lee's salary, and other goodies going the other way.

Then you fire the coach.

If the Bulls are seriously trying to trade Butler, they are astronomically stupid.

Cousins hasn't been the biggest fan of anyone... but they aren't trading him with 5 years left on his deal.

They're not going to fire Hoiberg, because then that means Garpax are admitting total fault in how they bounced Thibs out of there.

Cousins only has two years left after this one. Not that I want him in Boston.

So in return they are going to trade their best player on a newly signed deal for picks? Hmm.. Not saying you're wrong, because quite frankly everyone is just guessing. I just find it hard to wrap my head around.

Yeah. If the Bulls' front office is really so stubborn that they would trade away the best 2-guard in the league who just signed a long-term deal just to save face with the Thibs situation, then they are reaching Brooklyn Nets territory in terms of complete and utter stupidity.

Not sure if this is sarcasm or not, but I've been saying this for years. Bulls FO is corrupt and incompetent.

Haha it wasn't sarcasm dude. I know the Bulls' front office has been below average for years, but this would just put them on a completely different level of utter ineptitude.

I would do a non-top 3 pick and Avery for Butler deal.

It was Butler:

They just fired Thibs. Look at the Bulls' record while he's been coaching. How many years did he have a full squad? Hell, they were without their best player for years and he still kept them competitive. Jimmy Butler wouldn't be the player he is today without Thibs. Yet, look at the smear job they pulled on Thibs. Said he wore the players out. And here we are, with Fred Hoiberg, playing these guys the same amount of heavy minutes (D-Rose is actually playing more minutes!), running the same plays that Thibs had last year. GarPax is a terrible combination. Go on the Bulls forum and see how unhappy they are with these guys.

Why would it have to be non top 3? You have a 100% chance at a top 3 player at his position vs a maybe someday.

Maybe, but not by much. They have been very incompetent for years. Getting lucky with Rose in the draft masked a lot of their mistakes.
