My thoughts too, I've seen them get on him too.

yes it's me. you should check it out, some fun stuff. i think royce was getting frustrated by that point and was spit balling. that's how i interpreted it, anyway. i'm not going to take it as gospel because he was moving goal posts away from the debate.
it began because royce was using waiters' counting stats eight games prior to the break (against weak competition, mind you) as a reason for optimism; discarding the last two since as 'skewing the data'. when he descended into the dailythunder comments he proceeded to dismiss every argument as just 'stats manipulation'; despite the fact that everything was presented transparently and he began the whole discussion by manipulating stats to fit his own thin narrative.
it's dismaying in a way to see a prominent thunder media member behave this way. but what can you do. royce has never taken the time like this to really argue about his position on waiters with the dt commenters before. he said he would stay 10 minutes, and it went well over one hour. so i think he's curious, and maybe questioning his position. we'll convert him in due time.

I may have to, I was never a fan of the formatting over there, but there are some good posters (now I know you're there, Crow is around too, and apparently db). LastChance mentioned it on WTLC and felt similar to you from what I could tell.
I hope that isn't really Durant's feeling because its killing the team and I don't see it that way but don't know. Royce seems to be the yin to Mayberry's yang right now, so I guess the media has that going at least.

livefyre is atrocious. there is a lot of decent bball discussion there but it's often buried in a lot of insular, community nonsense. crow chimed in later with his thoughts.

like i said, he kinda said it as he was getting backed into a corner on the salient points of the discussion. so i wouldn't worry about it. darnell was on nba beats before the thunder, so i always interpreted him as less invested in the status quo and more prone to disillusionment. royce and slater i believe both got their start with the thunder, and royce especially hasn't been at this very long. he's just buying what the organization is selling. if dion waiters works because he's magic, so be it.

Well, never saw Mayberry say anything.
And livefyre is awful.
But the thing that really blows me away is anyone calling him decent defensively. On/off wise, he's nearly reached Kanter level bad.

Kinda Random but Michael Qualls was arrested for possession in December. Only notable because I assume he'll be a summer league invite next year.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

Just had a little bit of pot, nothing major. Might be enough to make Sam stay clear of him though, since it seems like we never have ANY issues. I'm still really rooting for the guy, sucks to have his dream ended like that, especially with a young son to support.

McGary did too though, so I don't think that is an issue. His police photo though...

Robes should be back, he was cleared for Cleveland by the medical staff but not by Donovan(???), but he is still listed as questionable.

Here's the whole DT discussion as a PDF. Starts at page 162. I really hope this is just Royce being incredibly stupid and not the franchise's view. If it's the latter, we're doomed.

Royce and his constant need to stick up for the decisions of the organization and certain players. This is why so many people think he's a complete homer and disregard what he says. I have no idea why he feels like every criticism of the Thunder is his hill to die on.

Was it in Oklahoma? I've been told by an Assistant District Attorney before that "the first one is free" meaning they'll give you a deferred sentence on your first offense which can be expunged after a set amount of time if you don't get in trouble again.

Think about what this team has given him. Every professional success Royce has had he owes to this team having first been moved here and then becoming one of the best in the league. If Howard Schultz never sold the Sonics where is Royce today? Working at ESPN? Doubt it. He's probably covering high school football for the Norman Transcript of the Enid News or something. That's not a knock on him, it's just pointing out how much he owes this team and this organization. Maybe that's why he has such a hard time questioning their decisions.

Re: Oklahoma City Thunder Regular Season '15-'16 Part III
The problem with the Waiters vs Roberson debate is most Waiters supporters are thinking about the post-season.
In the regular season I see no reason not to start Roberson. But once the post-season starts teams will take full advantage of Roberson's weak shooting. Look what GSW did to Tony Allen last year. That type of devestation can occur to OKC also if Roberson starts.
Yes, Waiters is struggling. But he has more potential than Roberson. If Waiters is shooting well he is a much better overall player than Roberson.
You can present all the stats you want. But remember that Tony Allen's stats looked awesome also during the regular season. But the post season is a whole other animal. Yes Waiters is struggling. But he isn't the only reason why OKC is struggling lately.

I can see the similarity, but that's something I always liked about it in the format here, you can be a bit more measured and well thought out.
