Re: Brandon Ingram
Ingram is not a top prospect, he's tall and can shoot 3s, but he doesn't have a good feel for the game, he lacks a 1st step, he looks really wack and not that smooth when he plays.. his defense was straight up horrific last game, got lost continues times
simmons is easily my number 1 pick
If you watched Durant in college, you could see how smooth and how under control he was.. Ingram just doesn't have it, he doesn't have anything besides a spot up 3

Re: Brandon Ingram
I'd rarely advise a player who's sure to go top 5 to stay in college, but I'd think about it for Ingram. He's just so thin and gangly at this point in his career that I'm not sure he can physically take playing in the NBA without getting hurt - physically and mentally. Taking an extra year to build up his body and working on his ball-handling (which needs a ton of work) could make a huge difference - and he'd still go top 5 in 2017 - and he'd have a much better chance to have a successful rookie year. I just don't see him being able to compete in the NBA next season, and that can be brutal mentally on a #2 pick in the draft.

don't think the NBA weight room and trainers would better serve him than another year in school?
I ask because sticking around for the 2017 class might not be the best idea with the type of talent and ceiling that exist in that class especially considering where Ingram could land in the 2016 class as a top 2 pick. I don't know if a stellar frosh campaign from Josh Jackson, Harry Giles, or Dennis Smith Jr. doesn't knock kiddo down a peg. Also Duke's depth next year might steal some minutes from him.
Allen should be gone but Giles, Tatum, and Jackson will all need to worked into the system. Not to mention what should be a much improved Thornton Jr at the helm. Not to say that Ingram can't return and be the feature, just saying they'll be loaded with similar talents, and if he's gotten knocked for an occasional disappearing act this year it'll be easier to do so when Allen isn't the only other creator/scorer he has to share the rock with.
don't think his stock is gonna get any higher than what it is now.

I think you're missing my point or more likely I didn't express it well. When you're the 2nd round pick - probably for a lousy team, you can't just sit on the bench for a year. He's going to be expected to play - and he's a forward - definitely doesn't have the ball-handling skills to play guard. He's going to get physically beat up playing forward in the NBA until he gains adequate weight and strength - which will take at least another year. Not just that, he's going to be prematurely labelled a bust - because he's the 2nd pick - and that can mess him up mentally. Yes, I'm looking into a crystal ball, but I think it's easily predictable by just looking at him play. He's going to have a long outstanding career - if he doesn't get messed up physically or mentally - so he's going to have plenty of time to make up for putting off a year of the NBA grind for his age 19 season.
I have no worries about him developing at Duke - as much as I dislike Duke. They don't spare any costs developing their players, and he'll have the best facilities and trainers to work with. He'll be just fine there - regardless of whoever they've recruited. Getting playing time at Duke will not be an issue. He'll likely be a Player of the Year candidate if he stays for his soph season. (i gotta put away this crystal ball.)

I get what you're saying. that high of a selection on a bad team and he's on the court regardless ready or not if that goes south and the boo birds come out he could falter. Valid in some ways but with his skillset and what he's reliant on to be effective I don't think its enough to ruin the kid. He's gonna get beat up, he's gonna have games where he looks bad but I don't see it killing the fire and spirit. He had those games this year with the slow start and he bounced back just fine. A solid coaching staff to reinforce the belief in his abilities should fix that along with putting him in positive positions to be effective. Without the size (which he may never fully gain) he's got enough length and fight in him to be serviceable until he gets accustomed to the NBA game.
I agree that he may not be NBA impact ready from day one but I don't think anything gets you NBA impact ready like the NBA. Guys like this usually go back to add to their game and improve stock and that's usually guys lower on the radar. Brandon isn't gonna add anything at Duke that he won't add better in the league and I honestly don't see his stock getting higher than his current 1 or 2 depending on who you're asking.
Hell if Skal still has lotto looks with the season he's had AND he's a big man there's no way Brandon shouldn't strike while the iron is hot.

Again, we realize his stock isn't going to get higher than 1st or 2nd pick.
It's about having a GREAT career - which I think he can have. He's a remarkable talent.

Ingram in the midst of a massive shooting slump.
Another poor shooting performance today hitting just 5/14 from the field (35%).
Over Ingram's last 7 games he has only hit 36/101 field goals taken.
Shocked this is not more talk about this.

What a hater you are. If some guy from this class turns out to be a better pro than Simmons,I will keep reminding you about that every time I get a chance.

You seriously think hitting 36 of his last 101 field goal attempts over his last 7 games isn't worth of a discussion? There is nothing being said at all about how badly Ingram has been shooting the ball over this large stretch of games.

Simmons has only taken 35 jump shots this entire season. He's made 10 of them. Your boy has no confidence in his shot because he can't shoot.
“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

Unlike Ingram that is missing his jump shots at an alarming rate (converted only 35 of his last 101 shots) yet is still volume shooting every game. The difference is that Simmons plays with a bunch of scrubs (outside of ones that are injured) and Ingram plays with a star in Grayson Allen and a very talented lineup which has the effect of making Ingram's poor games.

He has one bad game and you make a fuss about it. I have no problems discussing it but you bash him for his 6/15 shooting performance and say Simmons was impressive even though he was shooting 3/11. You have a clear bias and it is annoying.

Im not saying LSU has as talented of a roster as Duke. But let's not act like Simmons only playing alongside scrubs. This LSU team team made the 2nd round of the tournament last year. They lost only two main contributors from that team in Martin and Mickey. Those were the two stars of the team, both were big men. Simmons is a big upgrade while Craig Victor is a small downgrade. You then add Blankeney who was a top 20 5 star recruit. So this LSU team has more talent than last year's team and this is a much weaker college basketball year compared to last year and this team's already has 1 more loss than last year's team. LSU was ranked to start the year for good reason, it's not just Simmons and scrubs

Tim Quarterman 41% FG 32% 3PT
Antonio Blakeney 42% FG 34% 3PT
Brandon Sampson 32% FG 29% 3PT
Jayln Patterson 37% FG% 29% 3PT
Total stars the lot if them.
Blakeney has been horrible most of to year and shooting sub 30% from 3. He has started hitting them the last 5 games.
Victor is a small downgrade on Martin?
Martin was averaging 15 points 10 rebounds and 3.6 Blocks a game.
Victor doesn't even block a shot a game and is sitting on the bench in foul trouble 99% of the time.
Victor also missed the first 10 games, in those 10 games the best big was Bridgewater who is 6'4.

Maybe you should read my first sentence where I clearly stated I'm not saying LSU has the same talent as Duke. I'm comparing last year's LSU's team to this year. They have the exact same perimeter players as last year's tournament team plus a 5 star top 20 player and another 4 star player. I also like how you decided to not mention the shooting year Hornsby is having. The only difference is their two front court players. So you replace the MMs with Victor and Simmons. So I'll let you choose which front court would you rather have?
Simmons and Victor
Or
Mickey and Martin
I presume everyone here would choose the one with Simmons especially the people who say Simmons is the run away 1st pick. If you look at the returning players, they are basically playing at the same level or better compared to last year's team. So the question maybe should be asked, why with a better frontcourt and the same backcourt, why is the team a year older and worse, in a very down year compared to last year?
So if we want to nitpick, someone can easily say maybe Simmons is just putting up empty stats that doesn't translate to winning.

Maybe he is or maybe on a team that can actually shoot open shots he creates it will show it was more to do with his teammates .
But when one point in the game against Tennessee Blakeney and Simmons are 15/27 from the field and the rest of the team is 4 of 23 it makes you wonder and against Arkansas Patterson and Quarterman combine for 3 of 19 it becomes funnier.
Currently we have no idea which it is.

Ingram is rather thin and that doesn't bode well in the NBA but Porzingis is dealing well with it and Tayshan Prince dealt with it and on and on. Ingram may be having some shooting woes - sometimes the defense, like double teams can affect that, sometimes it's the player. But he's shown enough talent to intrigue a whole lot of folk that get paid a whole lot of money to figure this crap out.

Over Ingram's last 8 games he is converting on just 36% of his field goals taken per game.
2/2 - Georgia Tech - 3/15 (20% field goal percentage)
2/6 - NC State - 3/10 (30% field goal percentage)
2/8 - Louisville - 5/9 (56% field goal percentage)
2/13 - UVA - 10/22 (44% field goal percentage)
2/17 - UNC - 7/21 (33% field goal percentage)
2/20- Louisville - 3/10 (30% field goal percentage)
