The Hank Aaron statue at Turner Field is being discussed. Some believe it needs to stay downtown and others want it to be at the new stadium.
As far as the Ty Cobb statue nobody gives a damn..lol

I think it should go to the new Stadium.

I'm ready for this season to start! Thinking this team can defy expectations and win a solid 75-80 games, what a step that would be.

Can't say I understand giving a million dollars to a 28 year old Cuban reliever, Carlos Portuondo, who put up poor numbers in Cuba, tops out at 90-93 MPH, and will likely start out next season in AA. Maybe it's a favor to allow them to sign someone worthwhile?

I really wish him the best.
I hope he has a solid spring training and makes the team.

With Fowler re-signing with the Cubs, they have all kinds of extra OFers - considering they also have Hayward. Jorge Soler & Kyle Schwarber are both power hitting youngsters who would look great on the Braves. We certainly have pitching prospects for trade. Frankly, I'd still question if Chi has a CFer - since Fowler's range is terrible for CF, and Hayward's a great RFer - not CFer. They could trade for Inciarte and move Fowler to LF. Either way, I'd tray to trade Inciarte for either Soler or Schwarber. Maybe throw in a couple prospects and get them both.

Sean Newcomb took the mound today.
He pitched one inning, walked 4, and gave up 3 runs.

Andrelton Simmons has basically never been part of our future plans.
Thoughts on this trade that never occurred?

Braves, Yankees Discussed Trade Last Offseason Involving Jason Heyward

The framework of the deal would have sent Heyward, Andrelton Simmons, David Carpenter, Melvin Upton and Chris Johnson to the Yankees in exchange for Luis Severino, Aaron Judge, Manny Banuelos, Gary Sanchez and Ian Clarkin.

Ultimately, New York wouldn't pull the trigger on the deal. http://baseball.realgm.com/wiretap/44835/Braves-Yankees-Discussed-Trade-Last-Offseason-Involving-Jason-Heyward

Glad it didn't happen, and that we ended up making the trades we did.

What actually played out for us got us tons more value IMO.

Braves will ask for a lot if Cardinals want shortstop Aybar

Braves shortstop Erick Aybar would be the best available shortstop if the St. Louis Cardinals decide to make a significant move to replace injured Jhonny Peralta, but Atlanta general manager John Coppolella made it clear it would take a significant return for a trade to happen.

“Erick Aybar was a big part of the Andrelton Simmons trade,” Coppolella said Wednesday. “We don’t want to trade Erick Aybar; he’s a great, winning player. We need to win more games this year, and he’s going to be a big part of that. So we’re very happy to hold onto Eric Aybar.” http://www.myajc.com/news/sports/baseball/braves-will-ask-for-a-lot-if-cardinals-want-shorts/nqg3W/

I think the Braves really need to keep him - considering the questionmarks they have at 2nd base and 3rd base. You gotta put out a reasonable team when fans are buying tickets. But... as we get close to the trade deadline - if someone makes an offer we can't refuse - take it.

Chipper prefers front office over coaching

"I don't know what I want to do and I don't know what this is going to lead to," Jones said. "This is just me dipping my toe in the water to see how I like it. I know as of right now, I don't want to put the uniform on day in and day out. But if the opportunity arises for me to climb the ladder without having to put the uniform on day in and day out, that would be ideal." http://m.braves.mlb.com/news/article/167699712/chipper-jones-does-not-see-himself-as-a-coach

Braves prospects did good in Spring Training with the big club, today they were reassigned to the Minors to prepare for their upcoming seasons.

Nice strategic move by the Braves in picking up Jessie Biddle. He'll use up a 40 man roster space recovering from injury this year, but he was a top 60 prospect coming into the 2014 season. He's far from a sure thing, but the Braves aren't risking much for a high ceiling lefty starter.

Any thoughts on who's stepped up this Spring that can help this season?

Gotta be pleased with Olivera hitting over .400 so far - even if the power numbers aren't there yet. He's hit well enough to solidify the LF position.

I've been pleasantly surprised with Nick Swisher. He seems healthier and hitting well enough to be a useful offensive reserve.

Olivera, Swisher, Frenchy and Boni have all played well this Spring. And Chacin making a case for that 4th/5th spot in the rotation.

Chacin looked really good. We need innings eaters this year to bridge the gap between now and next year, when some of those young pitchers will start to get promoted. I'm looking at Chacin and Bud Norris to be those innings eaters.

Agree. It looks like our rotation will be, Teheran, Norris, Wisler, Chacin, Folty.
