Supposedly Joc looks terrible at the plate and Steiner made mention of it.
5Ks in 6 ABs.
Roberts has him leading off today. If the game is on MLBtv I'm gonna take a peak at him.
This is almost like another injury. Makes you wonder if Trayce Thompson COULD end up being the better option in CF.

Any problems with throwing guys in the major leagues this early without seeing AAA?

That's always a concern, so I definitely don't want to throw the kids right into the fire and ruin their development. The Dodgers are handling Urias with kid gloves, so I'm not that worried about him. Besides, he has really good makeup based on what I've been hearing, which makes it less likely that he'll be vulnerable to a damaged psyche. In any case, I don't think Urias will be given a shot early, anyway.
This is why I'm leaning towards Zach Lee getting the shot. However, if either DeLeon or Urias have a breakout in Spring Training, I can also see them getting a taste of the majors early just to push them further in improving their pitching in the minors. I really don't anticipate either going a full MLB season for 2016.
I'm a little concerned with the progress of Wood and Pederson so far but it's really early to be too worked up about anything at this point.

so glad they announced Urias will be pitching on friday night, when I will be in Arizona to watch him live... not that my opinions weigh much value, but I will post my amateur scouting report once I return... I am stoked!!!

it is a great luck that we got to sign him at 16, and it is very fortunate for him to be a Mexian national found and signed at 16, otheriwese if he was a phenom coming out of Japan or America, he cound not have been signed at that age and the Koshien Tornament would have eaten up his arm for a TJS for sure.

Urias Pitches Perfect Inning Before Collapsing
Julio Urias' debut in Spring Training started off superbly with this striking out the side in the first inning he pitched in. However, it was a different story in the following inning where he surrendered everything from a walk to a triple falling a homerun short of giving up a cycle of hits without getting an out. He ended up with 3 SO and 1 BB and gave up 3 R in 1 IP; Urias was hit hard but there seemed to be a couple of catchable balls in CF that were missed by Trayce Thompson.

Seager's Sore Knee
I saw that. Hopefully, it's not serious, otherwise, it would be a big blow to the team.

Beachy with another solid outing. Unfortunately, we couldn't afford to deal with the ups and downs of his performance last year because we were in the middle of the division/ pennant race. He still got work in the minors, this full offseason and this spring. The cobwebs should be gone. Everybody is saying the stuff is good. I think he's gonna kill it and shock everybody. Nobody sees him coming. But QG does.
Roberts said Seager tweaked the knee running around 1st. Glad he's going to be just fine. Hopefully he's there for opening day.

just came back home from camelback, and no, you are not the only one.
I was expecting to see Frias to start when we heard Wood got scratched on the way to the ballpark as Beachy was originally announced to get his at the Mariners' facility up in Peoria. I even told my wife that if I knew this in advance, I would have preferred to catch the game in Peoria just to see Brandon pitch. was surprised and glad #37 was on the mound instead. in deed, he was impressive... as Urias was for the 7th inning in the game a day before. Gonzo seems to be finding his rythym, Austin jacked up one, even Utley got in the action. but on Friday against the Angels, did you guys notice that once Jach Lee had given up 3 runs and eventually finished his 3 inning of work with 4 hits given up, how the bullpen simply dominated the Halos until that fateful 8th inning? no hits, no runs from Jensen's 4th, to JP, Baez, to Urias in the 7th. I am interested in considering Urias for the bullpen this year as he is probably gonna be in 90-100 innings limitation anyway. of course I don't mean right away, have him start the season as a starter in the minors with the same strict inning count to say, just like last year at around 80 inngs, then call him up to be a set up guy in one of the 7-8-9 innings for the playoff run? you could tell the kid came out jacked up and running on adrenalin for that 3 consecutive strike out, then his rush came crashing down when he got back out there, and he was a bit wild vertically in the 7th too but got predictable in the 8th as they were sitting on high fastballs.
I reallly like Charlie Culbertson. what a defensive shortstop this kid was. more than a couple of times he got a pretty good ovation from the crowd with his glovework. would love to find a room to have this kid be our backup SS.
ehhhhh f it.

Re: 2015/16 Offseason: More active than Shakira's hips
I was impressed with Micah Johnson's approach in the box. having read his pitiful OBP's little separation from his BA, I expected a free swinger but he was very patient and took a ton of pitches, which Pederson did too very well as the leadoff. but Yasiel, is still in the same mold of Nomar Garciaparra and swings at every first pitch, except unlike Nomar, he didn't make a very good contact too many times with those first pitch swings. but his swing still looked pretty good, from 120 section behind the 3rd base dudgout... but yeah....

Re: 2015/16 Offseason: More active than Shakira's hips
problem is, with Whitey Ford's mechanism, he was throwing 86 to 88 mph fastballs.
I don't think Beachy could stay in the majors with that pithing mechanism. there is a reason why "up-down-and-out" mechanism is so prevelant because that generates velocity if Beachy should learn a less stressful mechanism to your body yet effective delivery, there is no better instructor to teach you that than Greg Maddux. if he feels he is not as smart as Greg, there also is Mike Bolsinger. but with Whitey's mid to late 80s mph generating mechanism, he will lose not only his velocity but his control. Whitey's career K/BB ratio is 1.80. staying that far back, pin point control is not going to be a strength to anyone of that school of delivery.

Nice to have your commentary on that video Ned.
Anybody think Charlie Culberson has a shot at making the roster?
still think Joc should have had to compete for CF.
