Should the Nets actually trade Lopez/Young the Nets will be high lottery. If they decide to keep them and if their decision is to build around them, they will be around #10 and possibly borderline playoffs by 2018,depending on how good Marks is or how he chooses to build. Personally I'd like to see a real shot at a high lottery pick and the trading of Lopez/Young for draft picks. There's no need to be stubborn about disdain for Lopez and have them win extra games because he is still on the team and their direction is to win.

They are bottom 4 now with Lopez and Young, people were expecting them to contend for the 8th seed this season before the games started and low and behold they were awful. The only chance they have is to get someone to take their money this offseason which won't be an easy task. They may be the worst team in basketball next year if they strike out in free agency.
I don't think there is much for me to discuss if you believe the Nets will be the same with or without Lopez and Young

Phoenix does not have many winnable games left. Probably won't be favored in any of them. We should be pulling for them in every single one of their remaining games.

Dont get me wrong I want them to be 3rd, but they just can't beat Utah tonight, I wouldn't be upset if they did. The talent just isn't there for them.

I agree, which is the problem. I think they're absolutely awful, and will be lucky to get even one more win the rest of the way.

If they lose tonight, and Brooklyn wins even one more game, that means Phoenix would have to go 2-3 in their last five just to tie, and 3-2 to beat out Brooklyn. I do not think that either of those things are happening.

So, I'm crossing my fingers for Brooklyn to lose out, and I'll be hoping against hope for a Phoenix win every time.

...Meanwhile, they've sneakily drawn back within 4. Go Phoenix go!

My hope is that the Nets lose as many games as possible as long as the Celtics hold their picks. I think I've about run out of things to say if the belief is that the Nets will win the same amount of games whether they keep or trade Lopez and Young. This dislike of Lopez has really deteriorated any real discussion

BRK pick is 100% more important than DAL...but UTA is just to good to lose to PHO.

Meanwile MEM could be the team to miss playoffs in West...do not see where they will win a game?

Yeah, all of this prognosticating may be for nothing. Have a feeling Memphis and Phoenix are both going to hose us by losing 11 straight to end the season.

Meanwhile, Phoenix won both the first and the third quarters. Going to lose due to being outscored 30-10 in the 2nd. :upset:

You're misinterpreting what I'm saying. Sure they will be worse if they move the two, my point is they are already so bad with them. Without a significant free agent acquision they don't have a chance in hell of climbing out of the bottom 10 of the league. They are that bad.

The challenge with the Nets is that all of the other teams on the bottom are built around young talent that hasn't taken that next step yet. Brooklyn has some nice young players but they are not a good team if the lose either Lopez or Young. This year they played a lot of good basketball and lost a lot of close games. The lack of picks is really tough, and the one pick they will get in the second round is going to be so close to being 33 or 34, but likely be 55, which is a pretty brutal added insult to the year. Marks has got some work to do and it will be interesting to see if they try to pay to get a few more wins next season or if they are patient and try to trade for assets.

I guess regression to the mean implies they should improve some but their means to improve is the worst in the league - they should stay near the bottom.

The Nets will take a shot at free agency, because why not. But they're longshots to accomplish anything important just because the impact free agents will get the same money elsewhere AND go straight to a winning team.

So they'll try free agency. They'll probably strike out, then they can figure out if trading Lopez is in their best interests.

They can always overspend for lesser free agents, but it's hard to see how that pays off.

Also, they do have the Celtics pick in the swap next year.

Celtics caught two L's against the Nets so that will be the real difference at the end of the day. It is what it is.

It could hurt on both ends- ping pongs and playoff seed, and maybe even home court.

One more item of draft interest: If Memphis falls out of the playoffs, their pick goes to the Nuggets this year. That would mean the Celtics would be eligible to get the Griz' first rounder in 2018 ((Top 12 protected in 2018,Top 8 in 2019, Top 6 in 2020, unprotected in 2021).

If the Grizzlies make the playoffs, the Nuggets wait until next year and the Celtics until 2019 (at least).

Hilarious quotes in this. I'm paraphrasing but "once considered a potentially transcendent player by mostly uninformed YouTube video watchers..." is a great line.

I can't find anyone legit that thinks this guy projects as a high end player. More like an awkward energy big with the potential of a jump shot is what he sounds like.

I remember Giannis being the same and look how that turned out.... You know what? If he's projected to be a first round pick i'm taking a flyer on him with that Dallas pick for sure... we need to take a chance on someone like that.

No idea if he is a real prospect, but it is always good to have more fishies in the sea. It sounds like he is a good kid and a hard worker. Those two things, (plus talent), are crucial for success in the NBA.

I wish him luck.

The good news is that with the 3/4 pick and the 12/15 pick I think he would definitely do a pre-draft workout with Danny and company.

That video was pretty crappy, and did not give me a lot of confidence in Mr. Maker. Looks like someone who is taller than everyone else, but doesn't have an inside game at all. He was throwing up no-look shots in the post! Very interesting news though, will be interesting to see how he is viewed leading into the draft. That could change our pick a lot if he shows he has made some serious strides with his inside game.
