Whiteside is an unrestricted free agent and can be had for free, so this is just Wall for Dragic and Winslow. Dragic is 30 and not very good. Winslow isn't any better than Porter.

If we're going to trade Wall, we need to trade him for a really good young player or a high lotto pick. Derrick Favors is one of the few targets that might make sense for both teams.

Come on Nate- Favors for Wall? Let's look at their careers in 2 years. I know the wall flaws- but you are projecting big time with Favors. He could end being Sheldon Mack

I think he was referring to Exum, but said Favors

Exum...not favors....thanks 4 the assist

Cobra,

I like your passion. I think we both are in the same boat there as I assume we are long time wiz/bullets fans. And we both agree that wall is our best player at 25. But that's probably where it ends. As much as I've loved wall, the past 2 years seeing him closely every game I've come to conclusion that he has peaked and possibly regressed. You and some of my friends see his 20/10 avg and think that's so great. I see his 10th ranking PER and efficiency among PGs and see a flawed pg who can be great "when he wants to be" as HOF I Thomas has said. He takes plays off and doesn't do the little things to be great. So personally, I'm done w Wall. As Durant said in his movie "hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard" - this is exactly how I feel about wall and hence the reason u saw those trade requests that on face value don't seem that good. I'm willing to take lesser talent now for guys I think could be better in few years. Winslow could develop to kawhi level and I've seen him play both ways see on Def that he's worth the risk...Exum/Ulis could be better than wall in 2/3 years. I'll take that risk bc I know wall has peaked and probably regressed . It's an inexaxt science. I was just throwing out there for debate and food for thought. And regarding gortat, I believe a Pf like favors who's ranked 5th in PEr for PFs and plays really good defense by virtue of that could make gortat better and hide his deficiencies. Just my two cents. No need to put me on troll watch lol. This is just a fun board and not life or death. Don't take too seriously.

I gotcha and I know this is Erine and you are going to trade Wall for Favors or Rubio. I know you are working on it...and I will never go to a game as long as you are the GM. I don't blame you Erine because you shouldn't be a professional GM but alas it is your job. But it annoys me that it seems like Wizards fans hold JW to a higher standard than the rest of the players. JW isn't the best player on this team because he has the most talent. John is the most athletic but not the most talented or skilled. Beal shoots much better and John can't shoot at allllll- it's amazing that he shoots as high of a field goal % as he does considering how mechanical his shot is. I see him as a guy that is athletic and just goes hard...but he shoots more like Rondo than Lillard and as a result spends his time contributing in other areas. JW turns the ball over too often...I agree...shoots bad shots at the wrong time I agree...

Erine when you trade Wall know that you will have zero all stars on this team and zero reason for anyone to pay attention to this team. You can't keep selling us a face of a franchise and then not putting a quality team around him. You mailed this year in and you own me money on my tickets!

Hi guys

Timberwolves fan coming in peace. What(if anything) would you guys want from our roster for Tomas Satoransky? I've always been a big fan and wanted him in that draft as I followed him and Sevilla quite closely.

Gorgui has played too well as a starter and recently to consider giving up even though I think Sato will be a good NBA player. Would Shabazz Muhammad or Tyus Jones interest you?

No. Sato has the upside of the unknown. We're not interested in trading him for a guy who is likely only a bench player. The only way that would change is if it becomes likely that we can't pry Sato from the Euroleague. Of course, if that's the case, then his trade value drops accordingly.

That's fair - I guess his biggest value to you is as a trade chip as his actual on court value to you is somewhat limited with John Wall and Bradley Beal locked in your backcourt and heavy minutes(though Beal leaves opportunity with all his injuries). He could still develop into a terrific 6th man for you and it will be interesting to see what kind of contract he demands to come over.

Maybe nate33's answer is different from what Ernie's answer would be at this point.

With all the cap room available around the league, wouldn't some team be wiling to pay him pretty well to come over? He's shown himself to be very good over there. So I expect the Wizards will get some offers.

And assuming the current Wizards management continues, and if there really is this window to buy him out for cheap before his extension starts, wouldn't they trade his rights for whatever they can get if they aren't intending to bring him over? Hopefully they'll get more than cash considerations and a protected future 2nd.

I disagree, Nate. If Satoransky were a signed player on the Wizards roster, I might agree with you (I might still go for Muhammed, however). But, he's not.

We don't have Satoransky at all. We have his "NBA rights." That's quite different, and it's a far less valuable asset. We can't go sign him right now, and we don't know that we'll ever get to sign him. No one could argue that those very different assets have anything like similar value. I.e., I can't imagine any GM giving up the very real and very *signed* Dieng for the possibility of some day signing Sato.

What is the salary match number that would even be needed to even complete a sign and trade?

You don't have to match if the teams are under the cap right? and almost every team will be this summer.

Depending on who you ask here (ME) Sato is slightly better than beal overall and much better than him value wise, if you think of paying him 5 mill for 4 years to come over, against beals possible 5 year max. IMO I would much rather trade Beal and bring in Sato to start and hope he hits the high end of his up side, which could be the next Manu Ginóbili.

I don't see why the Sato situation has any bearing on the Beal situation. Sato should be brought over on the longest, cheapest contract we can negotiate regardless of what happens with Beal.

And as I keep pointing out, Beal has negligible trade value. It's either sign him or let him walk. Don't fool yourself into believing that there is some palatable "Plan C". That option passed at the Trade Deadline this year (actually, it probably passed last summer).

I agree that a trade is a long shot but I feel like there are decent trade partners out there!

If Tyreke Evans had sign & trade value, I'd think Beal has some too, Might not be what people expect but they should be able to get something from a team w/o cap room if they were forced too or S&T for another teams FA.

Interesting analogy. I can see it from a talent/contract perspective. The difference is the cap room situation. When Evans was traded, not very many teams had the cap room to sign him. Evans wasn't being bid on by multiple teams for a max contract so he had no leverage. He had motivation to accept any deal that gave him the best salary he could get. A S&T turned out to be the best deal for him. He got paid $11M a year, which was a good deal less than the max contract (which averaged about $14.7M a year at the time).

This summer with Beal, the dynamics are different because there are 20+ teams with cap room. He is likely to get a max offer, by more than one team. With that the case, he has no motivation to agree to a S&T because it doesn't get him any more value. He is simply going to take the best contract on the table.

That was my thought. To keep Boogie happy, The kings could fill that massive hole at SG with Beal. But they would only have about 25M and they are hoping to resign Rondo.
I would take Collison (1/5M) and Koufos (2/16M) off their hands.

Or maybe the Nuggets for one of their 3 Centers and Gary Harris/2017 Memphis 1st.

He could get that extra year with a S&T That might be worth something to him, I the kings for an option and that would up grade our bench a lot, the nuggets would probably do that deal in a heart beat maybe because they seem to want to avoid a rebuild as much as possible.
