http://upsidemotor.com/2016/01/11/jaylen-brown-scouting-report-2016-nba-draft-ben-simmons-brandon-ingram/
A couple of good write ups about jaylen brown and his pros and cons. Brown has a lot of similarities to Demar when he first entered the league.
More athlete than basketball player. Lives in the lane. Poor shot selection and overall below average shooter. Not a great first step.
His handles and defense for position look better than Demar and he has the size to cover SF and PF so he should develop well on defense if he puts his mind to it.
I'm a bit concerned that with Lowry, Demar, CoJo and Powell all fairly dependent on driving to generate offense whether Brown will compound the problem we are seeing in this series of teams focus on taking away the drive and daring us to beat them with shooting.
Still a good prospect at 9 with lots of potential. The question is whether he will realize that potential and fit well with the raptors system.
At least with him declaring, another player gets pushed down to our spots at the minimum.

Jaylen Brown, I can see why ppl like him although he's very mechanical. He's a power wing in the shabazz Mohammed clone category. Looks like he can play right away affording us to move say Ross + wright + filler for a PF.
I don't mind that at all.
He doesn't impress enough over skal Chriss or Rabb but I can understand if he is selected n y

We can't pass on either Skai or Brown if they drop to 9. Their situation is so similar to Drummond and Myles Turner. Top 2 prospects coming out of High School that didn't live up to the hype in college. Now Drummand is the best big in the League and Myles is getting better every game.

Brown would be a great get if he falls. His defense should translate well to the NBA game

You don't think Drummond is the best big in the L? He is at least top 3.

like I said he is at least top 3. I'll tell you this, Cousins will never protect the paint and dominate the boards at the level of Drummond. Those are the two qualities you look for in a 5.

A guy who shot 29% from 3 in college is going to adequately replace a guy with a track record of netting 130+ 3s a year at an above average clip? Hmm not sure about that one.

Drummond is clueless defensively. The Pistons would be monsters if he knew how to play D and they didn't have to hide him at the end of games.

If Brown falls Masai needs to take him and run like he stole something. The guy is one of the few elite level athletes in this draft and will at least be a good defender. I expect his offense to make strides given how young he is as well. He will be in D League next year and can work on his shot and handles without the NBA game pressure.

I can't wait to be one of those teams who stays good for a long time because of a revolving door of talent bein developed.

Drummond is NOT a good defender. He's gets some pretty blocks once in a while, but he's nowhere near a defensive anchor. I'd probably take KAT right now due to being a much more reliable scorer.

Gold Dragon wrote:The more I look into Malcolm Brogdon, the more I like what I see. I know we don't need more SGs but with the potential for an elite defender who can guard PG, SG and SF with some excellent off-ball cuts and play making for others on the offensive side, he will be a really attractive piece. I don't know if his shot will translate to the NBA but if Powell could fix his shot, maybe Malcolm has a chance.
I know he doesn't fit a need but as Masai said, he is always going to be going BPA and at #27 I see a lot of players that will likely bust while Malcolm sticks out like a sore thumb. I'm thinking guys like Brice Johnson, Ben Bentil and Cordinier are taken before #27, especially if Rabb and Brown don't declare.

In the 12 minutes Malcolm switched onto guarding Ingram who has 7.5 inches of standing reach on Brogdon, Ingram went 1 for 7 after shooting 9-10 in the 11 minutes prior to that.
I love the intangibles and BBIQ as well. I see Brogdon as another underrated senior who teams will regret passing on because of perceived low upside.
I love reading these back stories about prospects and getting to know their personalities.

Great read on what makes Malcolm Brogdon tick. With him and powell on the same team, that would be an intense defensive duo on the wing.

Re: Thank Nation! Pre-Lottery: Denver 9th, NY pick 7th (PART 4)
looking at nbadraft.net which makes more sense than draftexpress does right now. (they always do btw)
1philly Ben Simmons.
2.*LA Lakers Brandon Ingram Fr.
3. Boston Buddy Hield Sr.
4. Phoenix Dragan Bender Intl.
5*Minnesota Jamal Murray Fr.
6 New Orleans Kris Dunn Jr.
7 *Denver Domantas Sabonis So.
8. Sacramento Ivan Rabb Fr.
9. *Toronto Jaylen Brown
Now I don't see sabonis going that high at all and if he doesn't, who else can make that jump into the top 8 to push someone down. ??
Draftexpress has Rabb available to us but not Brown or any of the top 6 from the list above.
If the top 7: Simmons Ingram hield bender murray Dunn Jr brown, again I like skal out of the next tier. This draft is top 7 heavy and we are sitting at 9.
Boston needs to fall in love with a Jakob. They could use a young C.

Drummond is not a good defender. He is a low IQ athletic big man, but not a good defender. Not even close.
DRUMMOND IS NOT A TOP5 CENTER. I don't think he's even a top10 center. Stop with that nonsense.
DeAndre Jordan > Drummond
Dwight Howard > Drummond
Marc Gasol > Drummond
DeMarcus Cousins > Drummond
Karl-Anthony Towns > Drummond
Hassan Whiteside > Drummond
Rudy Gobert > Drummond
Al Horford > Drummond
Tyson Chandler > Drummond
Nikola Vucevic > Drummond
That's 10 guys better than Drummond. I'm not even including some other names that have a legit argument (JV for example).
