Can't we all just get along and cherish this history making performance? I mean, how many players in their best season, going for a max contract, would play this poorly and expose himself? He consistently ruins offensive sets, looks off teammates and takes bad contested jumpers that clang off of the rim.

He tried to give the game to Miami last night and almost did. I went from hoping the Knicks could pry him away to praying the Raps make a blunder and max him out. You can't just say it Paul George anymore. It's not that he's getting great looks and just not knocking them down. He can't get good looks against good defense and continues to think he's Kobe. Shooting more shots than anyone, shooting poorly from the field, and making JV clean up his offensive glass. Then, with the game in the balance, he chokes away two free throws. JV doesn't grab that board and put it back in, then we are talking about a very different game.

If the Raps had lost last night, Derozan would be getting burnt alive right now. He's and old school type guard, but one that can't even hit his midrange shots.

I did a break down of each of DeRozan's shot attempts, and I actually don't hate his shot selection as much as I initially did. He threw up like 6 abysmal eye raking shots, but everything else actually weren't bad looks, particularly the floater. The Heat are packing the paint against us, and the only good close shot that we were able to get were Jonas' offensive putbacks and DeRozan floaters off of pick and rolls. DeRozan was 3/7 on floaters by my count, but all of them but 1 were good looks because Whiteside refuses to leave the paint. It's actually a nice game 2 adjustment.

If DeRozan can manage to convert on his floaters it forces Miami to change the way they defend us.

Sure, a lot of his shots have been fine and they just aren't dropping for him, but in general his shots are coming at the expense of ball movement and better looks. For example, he might work his defender and end up with a mid-range two point shot, which, if he were an elite shotmaker, would be fine; however, he isn't, and he is even worse in these playoffs.

Getting the team standing around ball watching, maybe even getting a bit disgruntled, and overall effecting the game negatively. He took 24 shots 0 of which were 3's, and few came around the basket at all except those floaters. He is taking what the defense is giving him, not getting what he wants.

The real issue I have with him is that he jacked up 24 shots, even when it wasn't working. Even though Miami clearly wanted to live with giving him that, and he hasn't really adjusted. JV and Carroll both had good games, and his shots got in the way of theirs. JV got almost no touches aside from his putbacks, yet the few post touches he got were almost all conversions.

The thing about mid range two's is thatyou, at best, end up shooting around 45%, and players need to balance that with the occasional 3 ball and the ability to get to the rim. Derozan hasn't added the 3 ball, continues to take some bad shots and then some decent shots, and can't get to the rim effectively against stout D.

I think going to him for the majority of the Raps offense is hurting them.

It's a tough situation because after reviewing the game a second time, the Heat are clogging the paint and denying post entry passing pretty well. With Lowry sucking massive balls, that puts even more pressure on DeRozan. They're literally treating him like Rajon Rondo and it's hurt us so bad. Good shots are rare for us this entire playoffs with the way Lowry is playing. The only good shots we've had available are DeRozan mid rangers, which is exactly what the Heat are planning. There's also ISOing Jonas on the block and letting him go to work against Whiteside, but it's another dilemma because I love what he's doing on the offensive boards, and he's hardly a horse; he tires out pretty fast.

Don't get me wrong, his shot selection still sucks, but it's not Jamal Crawfull level bad. And yes Jonas should get the ball more with how ineffective Whiteside has been on him, but I wouldn't like for us to suddenly run our entire offense through him, because as I said, he's done a fine damn good work under the boards, and we'd run him to the ground if we force fed him the entire game. He should get the ball more often though no doubt, our guards have been awful at getting him the ball when he has his man already sealed.

This. Both teams have not played anywhere near the best game they are capable of.

I agree that the difference will probably be the Heat are capable of a higher gear when at home and if they reach it I can see them winning in 6.

I don't think Val will continue to dominate quite they way he has in his matchup with Whiteside, and I just trust Wade more then I trust Lowry to really get it going at this point. The Raptors are a good team no doubt, and I don't think they've had the respect they deserve in this thread, especially by Heat fans. But fans like to talk trash, just the way it is lol. I will say that just based on recent playoff history and lack of experience compared to the Heat that the Raptors don't scare me quite as much as they probably should. I do get the feeling they could win, and it wouldn't shock me but as a fan I feel pretty confident. But I'm sure their fans do too and there's nothing wrong with that.

I think Whiteside is just too big for him. BB struggles against really long, big players.

Too bad Casey didn't play Bebe more in the reg season , his size and length would be big here .

Dude, Bebe would get thrown around like a ragdoll against Whiteside. He's one of the weakest centers I've ever seen.

Yes both teams suck but let's just enjoy the playoffs while we still can because the offseason is around the corner.

Warriors/Spurs vs Cavs in the Finals will be really fun.

I'm fine with scrutinizing Casey for some things, but not everything. All he's saying is that when the players are forced into a tough shot as a result of great defense, no reason to berate them for it. The Heat are treating Lowry like he's Rubio, and the defensive attention usually allotted to him is spread throughout every player on the team. We've rarely had good shots these entire playoffs because of it. A lot of our shots have been toughly contested ones.

We should be all right as long as JV doesn't keep getting away with moving screens under 2 minutes

Complaining about refs favoring JV is the most hilarious thing I have read in this forum yet

First one is foul on Dwade.
Second one is perfectly fine screen.

Those screens are leading to points that shouldn't have happened. I mean unless you're blind, the videos are worthy of complaint.

Edit: I'm done here. Too biased/you don't watch basketball if you think nothing is wrong with those screens. Blind homerism.

Maybe first one should not have happened because DWhistle fouled JV. Second one is completely fine or 99% of screens in nba are moving ones. I mean unless you're delusional, the videos are not worth a ****.

Dwadeljefe is correct, the NBA said so.

▪ In its final two-minute report for Game 2, the NBA said there were two incorrect non-calls, both costing the Heat, and that Toronto players should have been called for fouls in both instances — once in the fourth quarter and another in overtime.

On one of them, the NBA said Valanciunas extended his leg on a screen on Goran Dragic without giving him room to avoid the contact. It marked the third time that the NBA conceded that a late game foul should have been called on Valanciunas’ screen.
