I would imagine that if Thanasis was worth developing, he would have at least gotten some run with a 32 win Knicks team that was in dire need of wing help. Just don't think the potential is there, and the whole brothers playing for the same pro team is just an unnecessary risk to take.

They didn't need wing help. Where are you getting this from? They had melo and afflalo. After that Derrick Williams and lance Thomas and after that Sasha and cleanthony. Plus a POBO who favored certain players over others.

Jerian Grant and Cleanthony Early were pretty awful this year, yet saw the floor for 1,200 and 300 minutes respectively. Melo logs a ton of his minutes at PF and I don't see how not beating out a 31 year old Sasha Vujacic (who's been out of the league the last 3 years) for a single minute is anything but a negative.
Melo even quoted late in the season that he wanted the younger guys to play more for development purposes. At this point I'd be surprised if Thanasis ever cracks an NBA rotation. Most 2nd rounders don't pan out so it's not like it'd be some big surprise.

"Alpha Dog" should be a banned term when having any intellectual discussion about basketball. When I hear someone say it, all I can think about is the trove of casual Laker fans who post in the Bleacher Report comments section.

But Giannis said his brother is awesome!!! Same with Kostas. He overrates his family. There is nothing wrong with it but you can't just sign a guy who clearly hasn't made it at the NBA level just because he is the brother of your best player.
