He also has the size and ability to feed the post. His length isn't great for the 4, but he is really going to be a hybrid player. A point forward, or maybe even a point guard.

His ability to to be playmaker hinges on whether or not the defense respects him. If they are able to give him the space he got during the second half of his college season, he'll be ineffective as a playmaker at the pro level.

It is more likely he'll play the 4 and I simply don't believe he's a better option there than Jah. Okafor has better footwork, a softer touch with both hands, and great length. I also suspect he can become dangerous as a pick and roll player. The risk of losing Jah is simply not worth the reward with Simmons.

The problem I have with Simmons is all attitude. He's the more polished player but it looks more and more like he is comfortable with his game which lets be honest while it will work in the NBA longterm you will need more out of the first overall pick.

Ingram is dripping with potential and actually looks hungry. I was in favor of Simmons but I switched. In order for Simmons to make sense he had to be the much better prospect and willing to put in the work to play SF. Neither looks like sure things anymore.

“I coached Ben Simmons’ father for five years in Australia in the late 80’s and I’ve known his family and dad his whole life,” Brown said. “And you look at his evolution, very ironic that he’s ended up where he’s ended up in this position.”

Cool nugget from coach Brown regarding Simmons. Also makes it sound like he thinks Simmons can work with our current bigs.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

Isn't that photo from last year? He has the fro that he was sporting for a while last year that I haven't seen recently.

During the Draft Combine coverage, Jay Bilas was saying that Ben Simmons actually played PG in high school and was a really good perimeter defender able to guard the position. This is news to me. They were saying that Simmons makes your team fast all by himself. D'Antoni Style.

I would be psyched if we got Simmons and Ingram even if we lose (Jah, Noel, #4..)... If you can put Embiid,
Saric, RC3, Ingram, Simmons together you'd have years of cheap production with cap room aplenty for FAs.

I think Philly takes Ingram if they can pick between the two.

I think the most conventional, safest, non controversial pick is Simmons. The Colangelo family's history with distributors (K Johnson/S Nash/K Lowry) makes me think they go Simmons. I think that picking Simmons will make a series of trades inevitable. Bryan can feel justified in trading Noel, Okafor and Saric for veterans while, at the same time, washing away many of the Hinkie picks.

As DBodner scoffed yesterday, we are moving from "Process to Progress." -- The StubHub announcement was asinine!! --

Bryan wants to be The Show. SMH

I also played PG in high school and could guard the position. Probably wouldn't be so great doing it against Damian Lillard and Russell Westbrook, though.

The drooling over Ingram's interview that was anonymous in Ford's last report was from Philly.

That is great news, IMO! I'd take Ingram over Wiggins in a heartbeat. Bryan could win me over with an Ingram selection but I'd still hate ownership.

Nick DePaula- The Vertical

"The thinking from Simmons' camp is straightforward and simple: It’s the Los Angeles Lakers or bust."

Looks like Simmons is more worried about Sneaker deals and the LA Lifestyle than he is about helping improve the team that may draft him. Not surprising this kid has a few wires crossed.

He can hope all he wants. If the Sixers win the Lottery he will be a Sixer.

Simmons wanting to be a Laker scares me. If we get him there's a lower chance he'd resign compared to Brandon Ingram IMO

So, given the fact that we no longer need to couch stuff with worrying about who falls, I went ahead and reset the poll. Now with the #1 pick, who do you take, Simmons or Ingram?
