My understandkng is the report was based on rival gm's opinions.

I really hope it's not true.
Anyway, here on realgm i saw the end of the article a rumour about a barnes/batum trade. Seems interesting, and i'd love it if is not for an exorbitant price

I don't see how that would financially work out. Unless they plan on having no bench whatsoever....

Yeah the report is not a direct quote from Warriors brass. Nothing to see here.

Don't forget they're due soon to pay Curry something like $30M-$35M per year, which obviously is not an option. Next year a Barnes $20M+ contract would be do-able, but the year after it'll become a big problem. Maybe if they can structure it declining or something.

Still, paying that much for Barnes and his unreliable 11 ppg would be painful.

It's probably preemptive PR for the Warriors. They let teams think they'll match, to prevent certain teams from making an offer.

Or, in the wishful thinking category, hoping some team interested in Barnes will agree to a S&T as incentive for the Warriors to not match the RFA offer.

Or maybe they want to keep the best team ever intact and try to make a run for the next 2-3 years and have back to back to back to back to back+ titles and not worry about paying millions upon millions in luxury tax. We're talking about multi-billionaires

Some people just like to play armchair GM.....Barnes will be back and his role will expand next year.

How exactly is his role going to expand? There's too many scorers on the team for him to get many more shots, he didn't exactly knock down the ones he did get this year, he still has terrible handles after 4 years in the league and can't create his own shot, and he'll never be anywhere near as good as Iguodala, Green, or Klay defensively.

If your correct on this then you get a pass on calling others armchair gm's while doing so yourself and taking a controversial position.. And get some sort of trophy or award i reckon.

Big leap from the 4/64 rumored last offseason to the 4/92 RFA max that can be offered this offseason.

Well first of all, they will bring in a specialist to pull his head fully out of his azz. Once that's done they will give him special pills to grow his miniature balls. Finally some cheap wine and hookers to relax his manic state.

But really I've been wondering for quite awhile why they don't run some of the off the ball action they do for Steph and Klay. I realize that he isn't as good a shooter, but when he's in with the bench unit, they could easily get into some of those sets with Harrison being the one getting and taking some of those looks.

His mid range game looks good at times, but often that offense is an after thought. He has that post to a fall away that he's become pretty decent at. Not sure why they don't call that number a bit more.

Overall his basketball instincts aren't that great. Sleepy nailed that a long time ago. I believe Harrison is an analytic. Some times people who are very analytical have a hard time making quick decisions. They over think things at times. Quick decision makers dont tend to over analyze things.

But he could improve, just hard to swallow that dollar amount. But there is something to be said for keeping the band together.

I get closer to believing this every year. One day it will be true, I guess..

If they want to pay 20m for an extremely limited player, OK. As long as it doesn't cost someone who legitimately moves the needle, do whatever for all I care
