I've been reading different sites and apparently the Pelicans have a huge history of trading picks. They have scenarios of us listed as trade partners
I'd love too move up and get the 6th pick

My board looks like this:

1. Simmons
2. Ingram
3. Murray
4. Bender
5. Dunn
6. Hield
7. Brown
8. Valentine - dont see SAC taking a big. They will reach here.
9. Chriss(to Denver)
10. Ellenson
11. Skal
12. Poeltl
13. Sabonis
14. Davis
15. Prince (to Toronto)
16. Korkmaz
17. Luwawu
18. Jackson
19. Hernangomez (To Toronto)

Ross and 27 gone on draft night.

What trade are you suggesting here?

#9 + Ross + #27 for Den's #15 + #19?

Ross + 27 for Faried.

I think Masai wants a stretch 4

Huh so marco belinelli is good now. Wtf didnt we release him years ago. Hes been on like 5 teams since then. I dont know how anyone can say this guy looks good when i guarantee almost half of the people saying this have watched anything more then what they saw on youtube.

Marco Belinelli is his own entity. I'm talking about a comparison in playing style, except 4-5 inches taller. Who's a guy at 6'9"+ who can handle the ball, pass it and shoot the lights out, while leaving a lot to be desired on defense? Maybe a better shooting Mike Dunleavy.

The more I think of it, the more Brice Johnson seems like a pretty good idea. Already has an NBA skill with his rebounding and was incredibly efficient in his final year of college. Improved from fg% of .511 as a freshman to .614 as a senior. Also made huge strides at the line from .577 as a freshman to .783 as a senior. I don't know how far off he is from knocking down a corner 3, but he definitely has a nice touch from mid-range.

Your description actually sounds like a longer and more athletic Chris Mullin. Though that's oviously setting the bar a little too high.

I am too young to have watched Mullin play except for on recordings. But nothing's impossible. I mean, Chris Mullin is a HOFer but he was picked after guys like Jon Koncak and Joe Kleine.

They're not trading #3 unless they get JV from us

In general it's really hard to make trades before salaries reset for free agency on July 1st because basically every team is over the cap. This is why there are usually not a lot of big trades that occur around the draft, and the trades that do happen typically involve only draft picks or low paid players of small consequence.

In addition, trading Ross before the salary reset is even more difficult than normal because of the crazy rules around trading players who have signed a contract extension that hasn't begun yet. It's a weird thing where the salary is counted as larger than it really is for one team in the trade but not the other.

Long story short, don't expect Ross to be traded on draft night.

He says that they're pretty comfortable with who they'll pick at 27. They haven't really worked out too many guys we like in that range outside of Johnson, Brogdon, Onuaku and maybe Perry Ellis. So unless they're going off the board at 27 it seems like one of those guys is the pick.

Masai drafted Faried and his name was connected to the Raptors in rumors in the past year or two. I wouldn't be surprised to see Masai take a better shooting version of Faried in Johnson.

If Korkmaz is gonna be available at 14, how about 9 for Gibson/14/Sactown pick? Gives us a backup 4/5 and allows us to start Patterson.

Well, if that's the case, and Brice Johnson is the pick at #27, I'd think that perhaps we either trade #9 or draft Korkmaz and stash him since I don't see us bringing in two rookies. Brice Johnson is more of an immediate contributing rookie, anyway, a 4 year college guy, similar to Norm GOATwell.

Sorry for being so harsh, but it's annoying to see the same baseless trade proposals posted on every page.

The other side of this argument is why should we believe Masai when he says that? Why should we think he would openly reveal what his plans are to everyone in the world? Especially when this front office has been so close guarded with their plans in the past. Everything about the draft revolves around smokescreens, subterfuge, and misinformation. It just seems weird to me to take it at face-value that Masai would be so forthcoming about the teams plans to the media
