Trouble reconciling such a notion with that Thad Young trade. God I loved that Thad Young trade!

Yes I will.

Physical high floor but very low ceiling guy could help them a little I think.

Heard good things about this guy for awhile in a 'good player for euro leagues' kind of way.

Think you missed the all-time word play there, 165. I tip all my hats your direction, Slart! (might even go buy some more just to do it justice)

You mean like all of our free agents plus Harrison Barnes? lol

lol Probably. I think teams besides Brooklyn will offer Barnes the max though. Too many teams with too much cap room to blow.

I get it, he is a hall of fame great name player.

More so disappointed that the current Nets might be good at picking out role players, instead of the old Nets who were good at picking out terrible role players.

Sad face.

There is really no reason for the Nets not to be targeting some Free Agents, it's not like they're tanking for a draft pick. I suspect that Young was not part of the long term plans and they moved on knowing it would increase their cap room for FA's that might fit that long term role better. I don't think it'll have much affect on their results in 16/17 given they're starting behind with the move of Young.

Peter Vecsey:
Nets will introduce Isaiah Whitehead today at 2 at their practice facility. Walk-on tryouts afterwards...

Sixers going after the likes of Harrison Barnes, Dion Waiters, and Luis Scola would be great for that Nets pick. Sixers will be good enough not to challenge the Nets for the bottom of the league.

Which teams would you say are the biggest threat to the Nets? The Nets got worse trading Young, but in theory the 76ers and Lakers should be better than they were last year

Their tank is O V A over. Brooklyn needs a miracle in free agency.

Yep, the Colangelos are the Saving Private Ryan sticky bombs knocking the treads off the Philly tank. They won't sit around and allow worst team ever talk to persist any longer.

Not sure they can swing it but LAL are antsy to take steps forward as well.

Anything can happen in free agency but Brooklyn enters the fray as the only team that used the draft to get appreciably worse on purpose.

How good is their Coach? I have a feeling they're going to get a couple middling free agents overpaying on short term deals. I doubt they can turn that into a playoff squad but I don't think dragging them out of bottom five is that unlikely. Coach getting a handful of wins would really hurt if it's close. Could be insane tanking competition too the way everyone talks about this draft. I think they'll be bad, but I'm tempering expectations. Bottom 3 a second year in a row seems to good to be true.

Nets Shopping Jarrett Jack Ahead Of Buyout Deadline
JUN 28, 2016 7:38 PM

The Brooklyn Nets are making Jarrett Jack available in trade talks ahead of his buyout date on Thursday.

The Nets plan to waive Jack if they are unable to trade him to save $6 million on their cap.

Jack tore his ACL in January and has been rehabbing with the hope of being ready for the start of training camp.

Trying to get more cap space or take on a bad contract for another draft pick?

No point clogging up a hopeless roster paying the likes of 33 year old Jack $6 mil off an ACL tear.

Which is why I'm guessing they won't find any takers given that he'll be a FA soon anyway.

Nets are basically shaping up as an expansion team.

They've got one starter in Lopez and about 10-15M apiece to dole out to 4-5 other guys, that will all be likely borderline starter types.

Some of the recent moves:
They flip picks with the Hawks. Without it they could have drafted Jefferson without trading away Plumlee.
They flip second rounders with the Clippers. They could have drafted a decent Center prospect if they hadn't flipped picks.
New management comes in, and they decide not to draft a Center at 20.
Free agency is possible, but a lot of competition for Centers. If anyone wants to see examples of what not to do, the Nets' recent decisions would be it.

Bucks, Grizzlies, Nets Interested In Kent Bazemore
JUN 29, 2016 10:14 PM

The Atlanta Hawks would like to re-sign Kent Bazemore but he'll receive significant interest in free agency.

The Milwaukee Bucks, Memphis Grizzlies and Brooklyn Nets are three teams that will pursue Bazemore.

Bazemore has emerged as a productive two-way wing over the past two seasons with the Hawks.

Bazemore began his career with the Golden State Warriors.
