Btw, if Phoenix wanted him this bad, why didn't the Wiz trade him to them in the Morris deal?

10 mil a year for a defensive liability that only shoots open 3s? GOOD LUCK WITH THAT

Liquidate all of the assets, start from scratch and rebuild while the markets sorts itself out.

The Wizards are setup for about half a decade of finishing either outside or near the bottom half of the 8 playoff spots.

I'm not sure I agree- Gortat and Walls deals look like bargains right now. I mean Jeremy Lin making about the same as Gortat now and Wall is a discount.

Based on Walls latest tweet he might decide to play DOWN to his contract this year.

He didn't really have much trade value because he would come with an expiring contract and no exception to retain him. Who knows if he was signed for 2 years(or 3) it may have been the Suns throwing an asset the WIzards way in addition to Morris.

Saw somewhere that Sacto never had plans to keep Rondo. Still, if they sign Ryan Anderson and can move some of their excess bigs to Minny for Rubio (assuming they don't get a big man FA), they'd be decently balanced. At least offensively.

I was more alluding to fact that DMC made his feelings known about the Kings retaining him.

A decent contract considering what it could have been, but still a downgrade for them since this means Horford is gone. I guess they're willing to do that to keep Bazemore?

And the other shoe drops in Atlanta...

So their offseason ends up as subtracting Horford+Teague, keeping Bazemore, and adding Howard. Tough to see how they are better.

That's more than I'd pay, but the fact that he's long enough to start at the 3 and quick enough to start at the 2 makes him attractive.

So, with Howard and Bazemore both gettin paid by Atlanta, are they less likely to keep Horford?

So, for over $60M in cap space, so far all the Lakers have to show is Mozgov, Deng, and Clarkson (who was restricted). I think they have $10-12M remaining, but who's left? They also still need to fnd a new home for Nick Young, but again what can they get?

Edit: Looks like they have more flexibility than I thought.

Wow. Kent Bazemore is now making $18M a year. Just one year ago, he was 25-year-old backup journeyman wing with a PER of 9.7 and an ORtg of 94. He is now one of the top 25 highest paid players in NBA history. WTF just happened?

Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 5

Contrasting Cuban vs Ted. Cuban on not overpaying for Parsons:

The worst thing we can do is overpay for mediocrity a team source told ESPN, acknowledging that the Mavs need to find a way to hop off the mediocrity treadmill Cuban fears so much, one way or another. Cuban didn't doubt that Parsons would get paid but he couldn't stomach the risk particularly since The consensus opinion of his advisory committee was that the Mavs should be willing to let Parsons walk.

Ted doesn't mind the mediocrity treadmill :-?

If they strike out in Free Agency, I think they might either let Dirk walk or trade him to a contender mid-season. While you can't build a contender around Dirk anymore, I think he still is a match-up challenge and could be extremely productive in a 25-30 mpg role for a contender.

Forgot about Dallas! Man, they haven't been able to do anything so far. Mahinmi is the only center left (after Biyombo agreed with Orlando) and they'll probably have to stick with Deron at PG. If I'm Dirk, that's not enough.

So...what does he do? Maybe to Houston to be part of D'Antoni's offense? We would actually be a good fit if we don't get Horford.

I don't think the Houston is a much better situation than us. One scenario might be going to the Cavs in a 3 team deal if they decide to deal Love. GSW and OKC would also be possible destinations.

Wow, he'd be perfect in OKC to fill Ibaka's spot. Obviously that assumes Durant stays.

Not as sure about GSW, though. Would GSW commit to starting Green at C full-time to make room for Dirk, or would he be okay being a 6th man?

Edit: This makes more sense, and actually feels like Vogel's influnce...

Can they flip him for a wing scorer? How about Rudy Gay, the Kings are always open to adding more centers! :D
