I just read an article in the Norman Transcript which basically says Durant's biggest risk in re-signing on a short contract is a "labor" stoppage and a new CBA after next season that isn't as friendly to the players. Basically, if things unfold a certain way, the rules could change and it could cost next year's free agents.
(It seems crazy that the owners and players would have a stoppage in this climate, but everyone knows there's a chance they will.)
Potential problem #2 is the risk of major injury and Durant losing his next big contract that way.
Put those two risks together and Durant on a short deal back to OKC looks more questionable.
The Boston Celtics have a real shot at Kevin Durant. I'm going to write that again because it feels really good.
