With Horford secured Boston and now move-on to being a real player in the KD sweepstakes. You are pitiful Ted Leonsis.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 5
It all comes down to Durant now. Does he pick Boston or OKC? I'm not seeing LAC or MIA as having real shots.
Horford to Boston also means Atlanta doesn't have to shop Milsap and OKC doesn't have to shop Kanter. Big names left on the trade block:
Rudy Gay
Greg Monroe
N. Vucevic
And then what happens to guys like Wade and Nowitzki, aging stars deciding whether or not to stay with teams that won't contend?

Apparently Wade is getting $20+ Million offers from outside Miami.

Yep, quoted a tweet about that on a previous page. I wouldn't be surprised to see him seriously consider Chicago.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 5
Interesting that Houston brought in Eric Gordon. Is he a 6th man, or is D'Antoni going with a 3 guard lineup?
Not to mention the combined injury risk of Gordon+Anderson. And they still need help at center and PG.

I think the thing people are missing is that this craziness is being indirectly subsidized by LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry and every other true All-Star in the NBA. NBA teams are not allowed to pay the superstar players the actual value to their franchises, yet the teams must spend money to a certain point. Thus, big money for meh players.

The Nets sign Booker for 2-years, $18M. I'd much rather do that than add Mahinmi at 4-years $64M or Nicholson at 4-years $23M.

Hell-yeah and our back-up Center should be something like the Aldrich deal.

The craziness is due to a one-time injection of massive cash into the system. If everyone just got 30% raises because the cap is 30% higher, then I wouldn't blink an eye. But the problem is that a wildly disproportionate amount of the new cash in the system is being injected solely into this one, not-so-good free agent class.
A wise GM should have the discipline to reject the temptation to match these contracts. Just sit this offseason out, or do what Memphis did and overpay a guy like Jeff Green for just 1 year and reset next year.

The Wizards probably should have just re-signed Booker to a 4 to 5 year deal to begin with.

Nice to see Garrett get more than the one-year minimum deals he has been getting. Good luck GT; you're gonna need it. Probably an overpay by Sacramento, but The Kings need as many adults in their locker room as possible.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 5
Kings signed Temple to a 3/24 deal.
Any opinions about Temple? I heard the guy is high character and a good locker-room presence. He plays 100% effort and can D up. What about his offense? Is it really limited?

His offense is limited, but he does a real nice job of playing within himself and avoiding bad shots. He has become a passable catch-and-shoot guy, and he can fill a lane on the break. He's a very good ball handler and can play PG in a pinch. He also has the size to play SF so he's a real good utility guy to bring off the bench. His defense is very good. He's not an elite shut down guy or anything, but he's smart, he fights through screens, and has good hands.
He's the type of guy who does a few things to help your team, without making mistakes that hurt your team. As long as he is in a low usage, 4th or 5th option type of role, he can help a team.

I don't mind the Nicholson deal so much, but I would have much rather preferred Aldrich AND Booker over the Mahinmi deal.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves Part 5
Courtney Lee just got 4 years $48M from the Knicks. He was better than Beal last year, and healthier too. Better WS/48, better on/off differential, better defense. He's 30 though. He will likely be negative value contract by the final year. Still that's a much better contract than Beal's 5 years $128M.

I guess going "close but no cigar" a couple times will change your perspective. Also have to wonder how he felt about the Ibaka deal, plus everyboy knows Westbrook is going back to LA first chance he gets. So he wouldn't have been in OKC for more than another year anyway, and based on the Ibaka trade I'm guessing Presti already figured as much.
Looks like we're in for another Finals rematch! What does Cleveland do now to keep pace?
