OKC - small city - not great environment and they haven't been able to get it done as far as surrounding him with right talent.

GS - okay great city - great team - but will never be the main guy on that team - its not even clear they need him.. So if he wins - he won't get much credit. And if they don't win he will look really bad..

Boston - decent size city - good basketball reputation (fans like hoops) and if he wins he can become legendary with us.. I know what team I would choose..:P.

Oakland is on the rise, but let's not go great city yet. They got a lot of gentrification causing racial problems in OKC due to the influx of Silcon Valley cash. Oakland is really struggling with that growth.

So if Durant stays in OKC, did the Celtics land the biggest FA that switched teams this year?

I mean all signs really do point towards Boston.

GSW came out of nowhere and would be the biggest head-scratcher imo. And yet they keep getting pushed as the front runner. He'd be vilified, would stay in the tough west coast, and then after battling through the playoffs would have to face a well-rested Lebron in the finals. And I don't get why after seemingly being upset about having to share the cape the last few years, he'd now be ok with becoming Kevin Love?

OKC seems the most likely, but if that's the case why draw this out?

Boston has the history of Danny and the Durant Family, a legendary franchise, with the best, most engaged fanbase in the league. Hungry young betas who need an alpha dog like KD. We have so many assets (I know, Danny hates that term) that we can flip for more veteran talent, with a chance to give the Nets 4 losses each year.

I mean, c'mon.

Right? Haha. GS just lost the title because they had no one who could win a one v one matchup with Finals "no fouls called" defense.

Durant can win one on one battles and kickstart their entire offense.

Probably my last post of the night on this, unless something actually happens:

Word from Utah (Celtics are there for Utah Summer League) is that no one from the Celtics has a real sense either way. They feel good about their pitch and their chances, but haven't been told anything. They are now waiting like everyone else.

What's the point of the Player's Tribune article if he just stays one more year in OKC and makes a more binding decision next offseason?

My guess is that he's picking his team for the next 4+ years. And if he is, then his choice shouldn't be OKC.

If he goes to GSW he will be the biggest **** ever. If he goes to OKC on 1+1 deal then he would really want to go through this again ?

If its the GSW then honestly what is the point of watching the NBA ? They will win every single regular season game.

Thats because he probably doesnt know and this is all basic intelligent guesses. Nothing more.

I wouldn't say GSW came out of nowhere. Klay Thompson's dad has been saying Durant will be a Warrior for two years now...the season before GSW won the Championship.
Steven A Smith has always said that Durant doesn't want to be in the same Conference as LeBron
And Steph Curry and Iguodala do Bible study with Durant anyways.

Speaking of smashing, I'm smashing the Durant threads together. We can go for part four on the 4th.

Smitty and the rest, great to have you on the ground with an inside perspective. Been a helluva fun off season so far, hope we get good news out of this.

I wondered why this thread was suddenly so much longer.

Fair enough, I stand corrected, I was not aware of those details. I do, however, stand by the rest of my statements re: why GSW doesn't make any sense to me.

KD going to be the talk of a LOT of BBQs!

I'm going to bet late tonight or early tomorrow. Everyone is off for the day, I'm sure Durant doesn't want to fart around with some announcement in the middle of his holiday.

Plus, if it's too late, everyone is out running around looking at fireworks, pretty much the absolute worst time for a big announcement I'd think.

Gotta go early on this one.
