Wonder if the Kevin Love talks come back up now. The rival nation just added 100 more nukes. You might have to do something to match.

A trade for Paul Millsap would give Cleveland a puncher's chance in the finals.

I was against the Love trade talks until now. Can't just stand pat after this, they can sweep through the East without Love anyway. Why not start preparing for the inevitable rubber match with the Warriors?

Agreed. I'm off the CP for Kyrie bandwagon, but fully committed to Love for Millsap now. It would be the perfect addition imo.

I forget who said it (maybe stein, maybe Windhorst) but on one of Zach lowe's finals recap podcasts one of them spoke of an interaction with David griffin after game 7, and even in victory griffin spoke of bemoaning the fact that he didn't do a good a enough job building his team to be able to match up specifically with golden state. Even if golden state stood pat he may have entertained the possibility of doing something. I think now you almost have to, and it has to involve Love

IMHO the Warriors were the better team and a lot of things broke right for the Cavs to win that title including LeBron going full GOAT mode the last 4 games. With full health in a re-match I would have favored the Warriors over the Cavs but now the Warriors are going to be even heavier favorites.

The biggest thing is Love becomes even more unplayable now against the Warrors. Cavs can't afford to stand pat anymore if they wanna be competitive in the Finals next year.

Why would ATL do that though?

Dwight-Love is a pretty good front court :dontknow:

Yeah but so is Dwight/Millsap. Dwight/Millsap is perfect on defense. From ATL's perspective, they might see Love as being on the decline (not saying he is, but it doesn't matter what I think, only what ATL might perceive, and they aren't trading a excellent player for a guy who they think might be on the decline).

Lebron's ATL status if he beats Curry, Durant, Draymond and Klay in the rubber match 8-)

and no-one in the east wants the "lebrons" to make their 7th straight final eighth overall

Well, the chance to surpass MJ is there now at least. Dominate this team in the finals for another ring and he's the GOAT.

Now that Lebron pulled that 3rd title out his ass; Im pretty happy with this whole KD to GSW thing.

In my mind that just makes the odds of my 2 favorite players teaming up a little greater. Now that its established that the Clippers dont have prayer beyond major injuries. Now I just need the Cavs to get the doors blown off them in the Finals and my CP3/Lebron dream could really happen.

Love's age (28 in a few months, Millsap is 31) and contract status (can be a FA after three more seasons, Millsap after next season) may be more friendly to ATL.

I think this is the only thing that will motivate him this season. He already got cleveland a title so his resolve to win another may be lessened, but a win over this new Warriors team will seriously put him right there with Jordan, no question, and that should drive him.

Money.

Obviously Milsap is the better player but he's already 31 and in the last year of his deal while Love is locked up for 4yrs.

Yep CP3 free agency is now on the clock, if the Clippers are going to be out here giving 25 million a year to Crawford and Rivers, they're begging for him to ditch

I definitely think Cle moves Love, but I don't think they'll move him so quickly. They might wait and see how the season develops.

Would Ibaka/filler be a crazy target?

It would now but apparently we did discuss this trade scenario with okc.

The nba season just got so boring, the west is as weak as the east now.
