he could be the 2nd ball handler after LIN and 2nd PNR initiator, if TJ cant do the job well. can be a good 2-way player with his length. quite promising.

The Pacer's pick to the Nets only conveys to Nets if it's 31-44 from 2017-2022, unprotected 2023 @BBallInsiders

Hmm, I don't think this one is conveying for a while.

enko wrote:I can see some comparison with Levert's situation with Bazemore. This Bazemore is undrafted, but you can see he has talent. Levert has more talent and size than Bazemore. In last season, Bazemore coming off from a torn foot contributed well with the Hawks. Baze even impresses in the playoff. If Baze can do that, I can see a good odds for Levert doing the same for Brooklyn this up coming season.

Jordan Clarkson is drafted 46. He has good contribution for the Lakers in his first season. But Clarkson is terrible defender and Levert is way ahead in terms of passing, defense, skills and shooting compare to Clarkson. If JC can give some contribution for Lakers, I can see a good odd with Levert outdoing Clarkson(if you compare his first year) in his first year.

JC in his first season for the Lakers averages 25 mpg, 11.9 ppg,3.5 apg, 45 fg%, .9 spg

Second season 32.3 mpg, 15.5 ppg, 4.0, rpg, 2.4, apg

Levert has strong mental toughness because even after some injuries, he continue to improve. Julius Randle is also hit by many foot injuries before in college. In 2014 Randle broke his right tibia during the Lakers' 2014–15 season opener against the Houston Rockets and miss the rest of the season. But last season, injuries never hit Randle again.

Ryan Kelly is another rookie hit by foot injury in college. But this foot injury did not occur again for Kelly in NBA.

Clarkson's first season, Lakers was in full tank mode after Kobe injure, Clarkson was given free rein as 1st option.

Levert will NOT have that kind of opportunity whatsoever next season. Lakers fans view Clarkson as 6th man type of player.

--------
from nbawowy,

when JLin on, Kobe and Clarkson off, Lakers +3 in 872 mins, team +/- per 48mins = 0
when Clarkson on, Kobe and JLin off, Lakers -222 in 1078 mins, team +/- per 48mins = -9.9

Yeah Levert might not get that much playing time. But I do hope he get lots of playing time, so we can see his potential. Brooklyn really does not have anything to lose giving him a lot of playing time as making playoff at this point in time is a low possibility.

I think levert will be a star if he can stay healthy. Definitely thought he was the best value pick in the draft

He's a 6'7'' PG who was acquired for his ability to stretch the floor and distribute the ball. Not sure that lines up with the Marshawn comparison

I don't know much about LeVert. However, ever since we drafted him i've been watching his game. I don't see that AT ALL with LeVert. He looks like a 3-D player that can play transition well. He also some half-court offense.

Let's be clear, LeVert is not a PG.

He is an iso/ball dominate player who can pass. Just like Marshon was.

He has the skill set to be a PG.

IDK how people dont see Marshon in his game. Both like to start from the triple threat position and assess the situation. Watch this video and count how many times he hold the ball for at least 2 seconds before making his move. He has the same jab step probe that Marshon has also, trying to clear his shoulder and take one or two long steps into a floater. He also looks for that same step back jumper that Marshon does. The only thing LeVert does more is look for his 3.

Marshon's triple threat is so different from LeVert. Marshon does his triple threat to the idea on breaking down the Defense. LeVert triple threat is about reading the defensive stance. Their mentality is completely different from one another. This is why you see Marshon becomes a blackhole on offense. LeVert, makes quick decisions in the ball. That's not what you call an iso heavy player. He is a system player. It means if the guy has an aggressive stance he will drive in, if the guy is giving him space he will shoot the ball. Yeah he got a lot of iso on that game tape but you really can't count that. That was Michigan's system. LeVert you can tell doesn't play Hero ball where his mentality is to score as much as he can. In that video he always try to make an easy decisions. This is why I see him being a great 3 n D player.

He also good after a screen. Usually iso players do not like screen to be set. But Levert can also score on his own without a screen.

Ironically I think LeVert looks like a better version of Crabbe. Same size, neither guy jumped out of the gym, both give effort on D, and at the end of the day both guy's best skill is the 3 ball. LeVert probably has a higher upside because he's got a much better first step along with likely better overall playmaking. I don't think it's a surprise that we valued both players highly given the similarities of what they bring to the table.

Edit - obviously I don't think he's better than Crabbe day 1. I meant that more as an upside comp as a prospect.
