He's a libertarian. In other words, he doesn't live in a place we call "reality".
I know you don't care, but...
Actually Johnson is fairly moderate. He's more in line with what we would in the past consider a small government conservative, like Goldwater, before the Republicans went coockoo with the Jesus love. Same goes for his running mate. Do your research on their careers as Republican governors in overwhelmingly Democractic states. Both certainly "live in reality", their record and popularity as governors speak for themselves.
The more out there libertarians, the ones I assume you are referring to with your comment, did NOT want to nominate Johnson as he's not a "true libertarian", ie he's not crazy.

I don't think most people understand what the Libertarian Party stands for. I certainly don't. Pat Buchanan was a libertarian? Ron Paul? Seems like right-wing religious extremism to me. Now it's the refuge of moderate Republicans. What will it be in 2020?
"There's that guy who'll walk into the bar and say anything to get laid," (See also:AFM) Cuban said. "That's Donald Trump right now to a T. But it's all of us who are going to get f***ed
"When you’re going through customs and they ask if you have anything to declare, try not to blurt out, 'Bankruptcy,'" Cuban punched.

People cannot hep but be disarmed by the reality that we are all the same.
In describing anxiety among Americans, Giuliani is correct: Pew research indicates that since the early 2000s, every year a majority of Americans surveyed have felt that crime has increased since the year previous. According to a 2014 Gallup poll, 70 percent of Americans think that the crime rate is increasing, up from 63 percent in 2013. But the reality is that America is getting safer. The national crime rate is about half of what it was at the peak in 1991.

It's up dramatically since 2014 though. 17% is a massive increase.
