Possible trade targets
Who are some of the players the Rockets could target in a trade before the season begins?
Looking over the current roster it just does not seem balanced yet.
I keep seeing Rudy Gay's name come up, but would he be a good fit with this team?
My God, this is a quiet offseason now that the dust has settled!

Possible trade targets
Rudy Gay has been rumored but God I hope not. Below average efficiency. Kind of a chucker. Not good defensively and not a good three point shooter. If they were to trade Ariza or Bev for him I'd be pissed. Wouldn't mind him off the bench but doubt sac takes something like Kj, Beasley, Brewer and a second

Re: Possible trade targets
With the emergence of devin Booker the suns are open to moving either Eric Bledsoe or Brandon knight. They would likely see ariza as an upgrade over pj tucker at sf.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

I could get behind this. I doubt they do it though just a hunch. Wonder if Ariza and a top ten protected first could get Bledsoe, given his injury history. Would leave a big hole at the 3 though

Re: Possible trade targets
I think this is the team that will begin the season. Any trade will depend on how we start and if need arises in the future. I think after a few cuts after training camp the core is now set.

Ariza + Harrell to OKC for draft rights to Domantas Sabonis + Anthony Morrow
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=gs996tz
http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6714833
Why for Rockets: Get a young PF/C in Sabonis (drafted #11 overall but not yet signed to a contract so ). Lets Dekker and McDaniels get more playing time. Morrow is a good three point shooter on the final year of his contract.
Why for Thunder: Ariza isn't close to Durant but he's a better option as a starting SF than Ersan Ilyasova who is more of a PF. They are targeting Blake Griffin next summer so do not want long term contracts like Sabonis would get as a rookie.
OKC
SF: Ariza/Singler/Huestis
PF: Kanter/Ilyasova/Harrell
C: Adams/Collison/Johnson/McGary
PG: Westbrook/Payne
SG: Oladipo/Roberson/Abrines
HOU
SF: Dekker/McDaniels/Morrow
PF: Anderson/Sabonis/Beasley
C: Capela/Motiejunas/Nene/Onuaku
PG: Beverley/Prigioni
SG: Harden/Gordon/Brewer

No chance they do this. They're super high on Sabonis—think he can be a starter by the 2nd half of the year.
Ilya is penciled in as the starter at the 4 currently, and Roberson at the 3 (he's 6'7", beefy and played PF in college, SF's probably a more natural position than SG anyway).
I like Harrell a lot, and Ariza's solid, but not enough to send Sabonis out.
I'm sure Roberson is available in the right deal—he's going to be paid pretty well next year, and we might need the cap space if we're going to go after Griffin, Hayward, Millsap. Payne is probably available for the right deal, too, but I think it's unlikely he gets moved.

So thunder don't want to start the Stache brothers together? Ariza for Payne maybe then? Roberson is similar to ariza just younger. What's the holdup on signing Sabonis?

Not trying to advocate for the deal or anything like that but man that starting lineup would be a trainwreck offensively unless they make moves for a shooter. Between RW, Oladipo, Roberson, Sabonis, Adams you have one guy whos even an average 3 point shooter. No one shoots higher than 35% from three there, I feel like Illy has to start for that reason, right?

Yeah, Ilya has to start for that reason, at least for now. They're thinking Sabonis can be a stretch guy (his shot's not bad) and Dipo will be decent enough from range.
Ilya and Dipo being our two best 3pt shooters in the starters isn't actually that far off from KD and Serge being our best 3pt shooters, at least by the numbers. In practicality, yeah, KD's a way better player than Ilya and generates more gravity. But Dipo actually had a better percentage than Serge last year IIRC.
We desperately need a competent SF. I've been wracking my brain trying to find one that's not too expensive and doesn't cut into our cap space next year too badly.

I think Payne's worth a little more than Ariza straight up.
The holdup on signing Sabonis is him being in Rio.

You can have pat Beverley too. Westbrook would love that lol. Any interest in a Corey Brewer - Billy Donovan reunion?

Please God no Brewer.
I wouldn't hate a Bev/Ariza for Payne swap. But Russ might.
Only problem is that we can't send out enough money to make it work without gimping the team this year.

Re: Possible trade targets
anyone interested in Danilo Gallinari from Denver? He played his first three seasons for D'Antoni in New York. He will be paid $15m this season and has a player option next summer for $16.1m which he most likely would use to opt out and become a free agent. Dunno what the Nuggets would want for him though.

Denver is probably looking to consolidate a bunch of solid players for a really good one so we really have nothing to offer

It Is I Folks wrote:I will do Eric Bledsoe, Alex Len and PJ Tucker for Ariza, Capela, Beverley, Harrell and picks
It's weird how close Capela's and Len's career stats are
Scoring: Capela 6.4 pts, Len 6.5 pts
Rebounds: Capela 6.0 rbs, Len 6.1 rebs
Blocks: Capela 1.1, Len 1.0
Assists: Capela 0.6, Len 0.7
Steals: Capela 0.7, Len 0.4
Minutes: Capela 17.5, Len 19.6
Games: Capela 89 regular + 22 playoff, Len 189 regular + 0 playoff
Clint's done it with 2 mins less per game so his per 36 numbers are better
FG%: Capela 57.5%, Len 45.1% (12.4% difference)
FT%: Capela 35.9%, Len 71.4% (35.5% difference)
Alex is a year older but 3 inches taller. His shot blocking regressed badly last year though from 1.5 the previous year to 0.8 while Clint did the reverse going from 0.8 his rookie season to 1.2 last year.
Both are good young center prospects but neither will likely be a star.
How about Ariza + Capela for Jahlil Okafor?

I'm still not seeing the fit. I'll reserve judgement until we see what it may involve.
