Xavien Howard - DB - Dolphins

Dolphins second-round CB Xavien Howard (knee) is expected to ramp up his workload in practice this week.

Howard sat out the third preseason game, but he should be healthy by the finale next week. He still has a chance to beat out disappointing sophomore Tony Lippett, but Howard needs to prove he has a firm enough grasp of the defense. Coach Adam Gase does not seem concerned. "I wouldn't say he's far behind mentally because he's dialed in to what we're doing," Gase said. "We're going to try to lean on his strength of just matching him up with somebody and letting him go."

Roberto Aguayo - K - Buccaneers

Bucs second-round K Roberto Aguayo converted on field goals of 48 yards, 21 yards, and 27 yards Friday night against the Browns.

He was also a perfect 3-for-3 on extra point attempts. Aguayo has had a rough go since the Bucs laughably traded up for him in the second round, so he needed this strong performance to get back on track. It is not Aguayo's fault the Bucs spent so much to get him, but he will likely have to cope with unrealistic expectations for at least the next several seasons.

And people wondered why I put so much empathsis on Goff's weight over Cook's.

If you're scoring at home, the No. 1 overall pick of the draft has now gotten "shaken up" in 2-of-3 preseason games. Goff is a featherweight who has looked like one thus far through exhibition action. It's clear now why the Rams seem madly intent on starting Keenum Week 1. Goff simply isn't up to the challenge mentally or physically yet.

Christian Hackenberg - QB - Jets

Christian Hackenberg completed 6-of-16 passes for 105 yards with one touchdown and one interception in Saturday's preseason game.

Hackenberg's debut performance showed exactly why he's buried on the team's depth chart. The second-round pick got hot for a stretch with four straight completions on a fourth-quarter touchdown drive but was a non-factor the rest of the night. He threw an ugly interception in his own end zone late in the fourth quarter to set up the Giants' game-winning drive and also took an inexcusable delay of game penalty. It was an uninspiring effort for Hackenberg, who is destined to spend his rookie year glued to the Jets' bench.

Jared Goff - QB - Rams

Jared Goff suffered a bruised tailbone in Saturday's preseason game.

His X-rays, which were deemed precautionary, came back negative. Goff had another rough night Saturday against the Broncos, completing just 4-of-12 passes for an underwhelming 45 yards and no touchdowns. He's looked surprisingly fragile and clearly isn't ready to take the reigns as L.A.'s starting quarterback. Considering what the Rams gave up for him (and who's ahead of him on the depth chart), Goff's play this preseason has been a major disappointment.

Paxton Lynch - QB - Broncos

Paxton Lynch completed 6-of-13 passes for 57 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in Saturday’s preseason game.

He recorded one yard on four rushing attempts, though two were kneel-downs. It was a tepid effort for Lynch, who missed an opportunity to put distance between himself and Mark Sanchez, who is on the bubble. Lynch got off to a nice start by completing his first four passes but limped to the finish with seven misses over his last nine throws. To be fair, Lynch was playing with backups and the Broncos used a run-heavy approach featuring Devontae Booker and Ronnie Hillman. Lynch's longest completion came on a 17-yard screen to Booker. Lynch has shown flashes during preseason play but Trevor Siemian remains the odds-on favorite to start Week 1 against Carolina.

Pharoh Cooper - WR - Rams

Rams WR Pharoh Cooper caught one pass for 19 yards in Saturday's third preseason game.

Cooper's lone target came with the second-team offense. The fourth-round rookie has been working as the Rams' No. 3 receiver for most of the summer, but saw fewer looks than Brian Quick this evening. Regardless of whether he's No. 3 or 4, Cooper isn't on the re-draft radar.

Paul Perkins - RB - Giants

Giants RB Paul Perkins rushed four times for eight yards in Saturday's preseason game.

The fifth-round pick now has 14 preseason carries for 49 yards (3.5 YPC). Perkins' fifth-round pedigree means he's probably going to crack the 53-man roster, but he hasn't done much this summer to suggest he'll have a meaningful role on offense. It is worth noting that Andre Williams didn't touch the ball against the Jets, however.

Jalin Marshall - WR - Jets

Jets WR Jalin Marshall caught 3-of-4 targets for 30 yards in Saturday's third preseason game.

The Jets made Brandon Marshall a healthy scratch, seemingly for the purpose of giving Jalin a long look with the first-team offense. He found some space, but also made mistakes, fumbling and dropping his fourth target. He's part of a major jumble behind Marshall and Eric Decker, though his usage tonight suggests he's going to crack the 53-man roster.

Devontae Booker - RB - Broncos

Devontae Booker managed ten yards on six carries and caught a 17-yard pass in the Broncos' third preseason game.

Booker was sprinkled in lightly with Denver's first-team offense, running mainly with the twos after C.J. Anderson left the game. Booker's big play occurred on screen pass from Paxton Lynch for a gain of 17. Booker will likely open the season seeing light snaps, but he's worth stashing in most leagues. Anderson has not yet proven capable of handling a bellcow workload.

DeAndre Washington - RB - Raiders

DeAndre Washington rushed eight times for 55 yards and caught a six-yard touchdown in the Raiders' third preseason game.

With Washington and Jalen Richard competing for a backup job, the Raiders gave both plenty of work with the first-team Saturday night. Washington seemed to be the front-runner for the job, seeing snaps early in the first possession and capping off the drive with a six-yard touchdown. He also saw extensive work in the red zone at the end of the first half. Washington looked explosive with the ball in his hands Saturday, sprinting through a big hole for a 31-yard gain in the second quarter. He did lose a fumble in the second half, but he was hung out to dry by backup QB Matt McGloin. If Washington wins the backup job, he should push Latavius Murray for work early in the season.

Kenneth Dixon - RB - Ravens

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Saturday night he believes Kenneth Dixon's knee injury is "not overly serious."

The Ravens are sending Dixon for a Sunday MRI to be sure. Before going down, Dixon looked terrific with 41 yards on six carries, and afterward a Ravens beat writer said Dixon has looked like one of Baltimore's top runners in camp. Dixon appeared to have received a depth chart promotion, running with the first-team offense. He should be considered questionable for Week 1.

Derrick Henry - RB - Titans

Derrick Henry rushed 12 times for 49 yards and a touchdown in the Titans' third preseason game.

He added eight yards on one catch. Henry clearly worked behind DeMarco Murray, who dominated the first three possessions, but he still put on a show when he got on the field. Henry turned 10 touches into 44 yards on his first series of the game, capping a 14-play drive with a three-yard touchdown. The rookie has been impressive all preseason, but he is still well behind Murray in the pecking order. That makes his seventh-round ADP tough to swallow.

Hunter Henry - TE - Chargers

Rookie TE Hunter Henry caught his lone target for seven yards in the Chargers' third preseason game.

He got a ton of first-team run with Antonio Gates resting, but Philip Rivers didn't look to Henry much before Kellen Clemens came on. Rookie tight ends ordinarily struggle for production, and we don't expect Henry to be different barring a Gates injury. Henry won the Mackey Award at Arkansas in 2015.

Laquon Treadwell - WR - Vikings

LaQuon Treadwell caught his only target for 15 yards in Sunday’s regular season dress rehearsal.

It came on a quick hitter from third-string QB Joel Stave early in the fourth quarter. Treadwell also snagged a two-point conversion on a goal-line fade from Shaun Hill. He climbed the ladder to make an impressive catch over Chargers corner Trevor Williams. Treadwell logged nine snaps in the first half compared to 29 for Stefon Diggs, 25 for Charles Johnson and 17 for Adam Thielen. He’ll enter his rookie year with some depth chart ground to make up.

Devin Fuller - WR - Falcons

Falcons rookie WR Devin Fuller may need shoulder surgery.

A second opinion will determine whether he goes under the knife, which suggests the first opinion was that Fuller indeed needs surgery. A seventh-round pick out of UCLA, Fuller was fighting for the Falcons' No. 5 receiver spot.

Xavien Howard - DB - Dolphins

The Dolphins are expected to start second-round CB Xavien Howard in Week 1 against the Seahawks.

Howard missed over three weeks of training camp following an offseason knee scope and hasn't played at all in preseason. He is expected to play in the exhibition finale. While Howard is supremely raw with next to no time in DC Vance Joseph's system, he can't possibly be worse than overmatched Tony Lippett. Russell Wilson, Doug Baldwin & Co. should still be licking their chops.

Tyler Ervin - RB - Texans

Rookie Tyler Ervin was the No. 2 back behind Lamar Miller in the Texans' third preseason game.

It's not the first time Ervin has worked second behind Miller this preseason, though we weren't sure it was notable because Ervin's appearance was brief. He logged the second most playing time with the ones on Saturday night, seeing more work in the Brock Osweiler group than Alfred Blue. It's not inconceivable Ervin would lead the Texans in touches if Miller went down. That possibility makes Ervin worth consideration in deep re-draft leagues. On Sunday, Ervin rushed twice for 13 yards and had a 20-yard reception.

Braxton Miller - WR - Texans

Braxton Miller hauled in all three of his targets for 29 yards in Sunday’s regular season dress rehearsal.

Miller looked sharp on the opening drive, delivering back-to-back catches to set Houston up at the one-yard line, where Lamar Miller punched it in for the game’s first touchdown. He also snagged a six-yarder late in the first half. Among the starting wideouts, only Will Fuller out-snapped Miller. The third-round pick has enjoyed a productive preseason so far with 10 catches for 97 yards. Look for Miller to open 2016 as the Texans’ starting slot receiver.

Will Fuller - WR - Texans

Will Fuller caught 3-of-4 targets for 67 yards and a touchdown in Houston's third preseason game.

Assuming he sits out Thursday's preseason finale, Fuller finishes the summer with eight catches for 144 yards (18.0 YPC) and two touchdowns. His fourth target today was a bad drop on what would have been a long gainer, but it was an otherwise mighty impressive performance from the No. 21 overall pick. Fuller was running right by Cardinals DBs (Patrick Peterson was held out), though he did get away with a bit of a push-off on his touchdown. Fuller's hands are a concern, but his role (starting) and skills (now evident on NFL film) are not. He's a WR5 who could give you some big weeks during byes.
