Kenneth Dixon - RB - Ravens

Ravens RB Kenneth Dixon will be sidelined four weeks with a torn MCL, but does not need surgery.

It's good and bad news. The bad being it's going to be a while before Dixon pushes for a role on offense, the good that he isn't out longer and has avoided surgery. Dixon had a strong camp and preseason. He isn't worth stashing in 12-team leagues, but should begin the year on watch lists. Baltimore has a volatile backfield where the pecking order could change multiple times in September. The four-week timetable has Dixon returning somewhere around Week 4 or 5.

Jake Coker - QB - Cardinals

Cardinals waived/injured QB Jake Coker.

Coker wasn't putting any heat on Matt Barkley for third-string duties, and was recently diagnosed with a knee injury that will likely require a scope. The Alabama alum will spend his rookie year in the Cardinals' I.R. list.

Paxton Lynch - QB - Broncos

Paxton Lynch will play the entire game in the Broncos' preseason finale.

This should place him squarely on preseason DFS crosshairs. It's also a big opportunity for Denver's first-round pick; Lynch could start sooner rather than later if he plays well Thursday, and Trevor Siemian struggles early in the year. Siemian finished his college career with a 27:24 TD-to-INT ratio.

Joey Bosa - DL - Chargers

Chargers signed No. 3 overall pick DE Joey Bosa to a four-year, $26 million contract.

In the end, both sides blinked. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Chargers agreed to give Bosa the largest up-front signing bonus in franchise history ($17 million) in exchange for offset language. Bosa now has only 13 days to get ready for Week 1 after skipping the entire offseason program. He's supposedly been working out "like a madman" on his own. Bosa could be on an early snap count, but he's an elite 21-year-old athlete. At least physically, it won't take him long to get up to speed.

Keith Marshall - RB - Redskins

Redskins rookie RB Keith Marshall (elbow) is expected to miss at least three weeks.

Marshall suffered a nasty looking elbow injury in the third preseason game, but the team says it is just a sprain. The timetable is "at least" because CSN Washington's Chick Hernandez reports Marshall will be "re-evaluated" after three weeks. It is certainly possible the injury-crossed back misses more time. With Matt Jones (shoulder) questionable for Week 1, undrafted rookie Rob Kelley could open the season in the starting lineup.

Keith Marshall - RB - Redskins

Redskins coach Jay Gruden says injured reserve is a possibility for RB Keith Marshall (elbow).

Marshall is only supposed to be sidelined three weeks, so it would be a drastic move. Of course, Marshall could be the player the Redskins stash to activate later. He's probably not important enough for that honor, however. Even with Matt Jones (shoulder) banged up, Marshall is completely off the re-draft radar.

Emmanuel Ogbah - LB - Browns

Browns second-rounder Emmanuel Ogbah will switch back to outside linebacker following the release of Paul Kruger.

The Browns are extremely thin at outside linebacker, but that did not stop them from cutting one of their starters. Ogbah reportedly showed well on the outside during the offseason, but injury issues forced him to defensive end at the beginning of camp. Even before Kruger was cut, the Browns were set to field one of the worst front sevens in football. Cleveland will be a weekly target in DFS.

Will Fuller - WR - Texans

Texans QB Brock Osweiler said first-round WR Will Fuller is a "very special football player."

"Obviously, everybody knows about his speed -- they saw him all last season, they saw him at the combine -- but it’s his work ethic," Osweiler said. "That’s what really makes him special." Osweiler has looked the rookie's way early and often this preseason, and Fuller has rewarded his quarterback with eight catches for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Locked into the starting lineup, Fuller is a very interesting late-round grab.

Carson Wentz - QB - Eagles

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports Carson Wentz (ribs) was still in pain over the weekend.

Wentz suffered a hairline fracture to his ribs in the preseason opener. One of the fractures has healed, but coach Doug Pederson said the other is only 60 percent. The Eagles' plan was to get Wentz work in the finale Thursday night, but he confirmed he will sit out. The rookie will open the season firmly glued to the bench.

Pharoh Cooper - WR - Rams

Pharoh Cooper will miss "a few weeks" with a shoulder injury.

Rams beat writer Alden Gonzalez believes Cooper will miss the opener, "at least." Cooper had won the Rams' third receiver job behind Tavon Austin and Kenny Britt. Los Angeles remains likely to be more of a two-tight end team.

Corey Coleman - WR - Browns

Browns coach Hue Jackson doesn't believe first-round WR Corey Coleman is behind despite missing a large chunk of camp with a hamstring injury.

Coleman caught just 1-of-6 targets for 10 yards in his two preseason appearances, also committing a drop and running into a Bucs defense. Jackson isn't fazed. "I don't think Corey's spinning, I don't think there's any issue with Corey whatsoever," Jackson insisted. "It's unfortunate (his injury) happened at that time but he's been outstanding as far as getting lined up and knowing exactly what to do.'' Despite Jackson's positive words, it's hard to sell Coleman as more than a WR4 to begin the season.

Duke Williams - WR - Free Agent

Rams waived WR Duke Williams, DE Morgan Fox, TE Justice Cunningham, and DB Rohan Gaines.

A priority UDFA, Williams caught just two passes in limited preseason snaps. He's been in heavy decline since getting kicked off Auburn his senior year. Cunningham could resurface on the practice squad.

Corey Coleman - WR - Browns

Browns coach Hue Jackson suggested first-round WR Corey Coleman will open the season as the punt returner.

It is a nice boost for players who play in return-yardage formats. Coleman has had an injured and uninspiring preseason, but he is set to open the year as the clear-cut No. 1 option in a passing game which will likely be forced to air it out. He has WR3 appeal Week 1 against the Eagles.

Zack Sanchez - DB - Free Agent

Panthers waived fifth-round CB Zack Sanchez.

The Panthers drafted three cornerbacks in a row in April's draft. Two of them, second-rounder James Bradberry and third-rounder Daryl Worley, will open the season in the starting lineup, but Sanchez will likely open the year on another roster. If he surprisingly slips through waivers, the Panthers will stash him on the practice squad.

Looks like my guy Will Redmond is looking good so far. Was one of my favourite players in the draft as far as value goes.

Hope he steals Brock's job sooner than later. And I hope Johnson steals Ward's job, so he can move to safety where he belongs.

Will Redmond - DB - 49ers

49ers placed CB Will Redmond (ACL) on injured reserve, ending his season.

GM Trent Baalke is committed to drafting at least one injured player per season. This year it was Redmond, who was thought to be in the final stages of his recovery from a torn ACL. He went down last October. The No. 68 overall pick, Redmond should hopefully be back to 100 percent well before next summer's camp. The history of Baalke's "redshirts" is bleak, however.

Laremy Tunsil - T - Dolphins

The Dolphins have named No. 13 overall pick Laremy Tunsil their starting left guard.

He's starting opposite Jermon Bushrod. Both players are tackles by trade, while C Mike Pouncey (hip) is looking likely to miss Week 1. Despite the on-paper talent level, the interior of Miami's offensive line is a definite question mark. Perhaps the Dolphins should have actually tried to find guards to play guard.

Xavien Howard - DB - Dolphins

The Dolphins have confirmed second-round CB Xavien Howard will start opposite Byron Maxwell against the Seahawks in Sunday's opener.

Aside from a handful of snaps in the finale, Howard missed the entire preseason. He's barely practiced since minicamp. The Dolphins have a dire situation at cornerback, but it's still a mighty risk to throw Howard into the fire, especially on the road against an elite offense. Howard will be tested early and often by Russell Wilson.

Tajae Sharpe - WR - Titans

Marcus Mariota said rookie WR Tajae Sharpe "makes it easy" on him.

ESPN Titans reporter Paul Kuharsky predictably picked Sharpe as his "fantasy breakout player" for the season. Sharpe didn't miss a single practice in training camp and was often seen staying after to catch extra passes. In the preseason, he reeled in 9-of-12 targets for 163 yards. "He is a very versatile athlete," Mariota continues. "He has done a lot for us already and he gets great separation in and out of his routes. We are going to continue to expect these things out of him." Sharpe is the early favorite to lead the Titans' receivers in targets this season.

Sheldon Rankins - DL - Saints

Saints placed DT Sheldon Rankins (fibula) on injured reserve.

The 12th overall pick in April's draft, Rankins fractured his fibula in mid-August. The I.R. designation means Rankins is out until at least Week 9, at which point he could be activated if declared the Saints' I.R./recall player. New Orleans' defense is going to get torched on a weekly basis once again.

Yay. More good news...

Well, if it's gotta happen, let it happen in a throw-away season.
