Karl Joseph - DB - Raiders

Raiders first-round S Karl Joseph is opening the year on the bench.

Nate Allen will start opposite Reggie Nelson against the Saints. "I didn’t expect anything given to me," Joseph said. "I’ve just got to keep learning, keep getting better and keep growing as a player and everything else will fall in its place." The Raiders should still find snaps for the No. 14 overall pick on defense.

Ezekiel Elliott - RB - Cowboys

Ezekiel Elliott's father tweeted he has been cleared in his domestic violence investigation.

"My son has been vindicated!," Stacy Elliott tweeted Tuesday. "Truth has prevailed! If he had violated one of OUR core values I personally would have had him charged!" The news has since been confirmed by the Columbus (Ohio) City Attorney's office. A suspension seems unlikely.

Jared Goff - QB - Rams

Jared Goff will be a healthy scratch for Week 1.

This isn't what the Rams had in mind when they mortgaged their future to trade up to No. 1 overall. Coach Jeff Fisher did claim Goff and No. 2 QB Sean Mannion could be "flipped" for Week 2. Goff is frightfully behind in his development. He's the first quarterback taken at No. 1 overall not to start in Week 1 since JaMarcus Russell.

Laquon Treadwell - WR - Vikings

Laquon Treadwell is listed as a backup for Charles Johnson on the Vikings' latest depth chart.

The starters are Johnson and Stefon Diggs. Adam Thielen is listed as the backup for Diggs, which puts him roughly on equal footing with Treadwell. It will be interesting to see who the Vikings roll out in three-wide sets Sunday against Tennessee. Treadwell will be a role player to start the year but his snaps should increase steadily throughout the season. He's not a must-own in re-draft leagues.

Brandon Williams - DB - Cardinals

Coach Bruce Arians named third-round rookie Brandon Williams the Cardinals' starting cornerback opposite Patrick Peterson.

Williams played running back for most of his Texas A&M career, and was a part-time corner last season. Therefore, this will be his first-ever full season at cornerback. Williams is going to get targeted mercilessly by enemy passers playing opposite Peterson. He is a name to keep in mind for DFS.

Will Fuller - WR - Texans

The Houston Chronicle confirms Will Fuller "is still slated to play and start" despite popping up with a hamstring injury on Wednesday.

Fuller was "limited" in Wednesday's practice, but his availability against the Bears doesn't appear to be in doubt. Facing a Chicago defense that's been hit hard by injuries in the secondary and lost top pass rusher Pernell McPhee (knee) to reserve/PUP, Fuller will be a volatile WR3 option in Week 1.

Ezekiel Elliott - RB - Cowboys

Ezekiel Elliott is "100 percent" recovered from his hamstring injury.

Elliott also confirmed he's back in football shape after dealing with conditioning issues in training camp. With Tony Romo sidelined, Elliott is in line for a heavy early-season workload. He's a top-five play against the Giants.

Joey Bosa - DL - Chargers

Chargers first-round DE Joey Bosa isn't expected to play Week 1 against the Chiefs.

The No. 3 overall pick isn't yet in game shape after just signing his rookie deal and reporting to the team on August 29. Sophomore Darius Philon will get the start in his place. It's a boost to Spencer Ware's on-the-rise stock.

Josh Garnett - G - 49ers

Coach Chip Kelly said first-round OG Josh Garnett is "pushing to be a starter."

The 28th overall pick in April's draft after the 49ers traded up to select him, Garnett was a healthy scratch in the Week 1 opener. If you're not a starter on game day, you need to be versatile, and Garnett isn't that as he can only play guard. Look for him to unseat RG Andrew Tiller by midseason.

How 'bout our boy Rashard Robinson? He looks good, which means he'll get 5 DUIs, get arrested for beating the crap out of his wife, kids & puppies, or retire at the end of the year...

But at least he looks good for now.

That happens BEFORE they're drafted. After they're drafted, they either suck, get arrested or retire.

Tajae Sharpe - WR - Titans

The Titans want Tajae Sharpe to work on finishing his routes.

Sharpe was short on a couple of his Week 1 routes, costing Tennessee two first downs. It shouldn’t be a concern going forward. Sharpe had an impressive debut, catching 7-of-11 passes for 76 yards. He’s locked in as Marcus Mariota’s top target.

Jared Goff - QB - Rams

NFL Network's Mike Silver believes coach Jeff Fisher would "ideally" prefer to sit No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff his entire rookie season.

Silver has long been tight with Fisher. "I think ideally (Goff) might not play all year, if Fisher were doing what he philosophically believes is best," Silver said. "Now we all saw that atrocity on Monday night. If it keeps looking like that for much longer, I don’t know that they’re going to have a choice." Case Keenum was a joke of a starting quarterback in the Rams' embarrassing Week 1 loss to the 49ers, but Fisher is prepared to ride it out until he absolutely has to make a change. We'll be interested to see whether the Rams turn to Sean Mannion instead of Goff once Keenum inevitably plays his himself off the field.

Jared Goff - QB - Rams

The Rams have promoted No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff to No. 2 on their quarterback depth chart.

"He's excited," proclaimed soon-to-be-extended coach Jeff Fisher. We are trying to contain our excitement. At long last, the No. 1 overall pick in the draft appears to have surpassed Sean Mannion on the depth chart behind Case Keenum. This means Goff will carry the clipboard, actually be in uniform as opposed to street clothes on game days, and perhaps even set foot between the white lines when Keenum inevitably plays his way onto the bench.

Joey Bosa - DL - Chargers

Chargers first-round DE Joey Bosa (hamstring) is out for Week 2 against the Jaguars.

Bosa didn't practice this week. There's no timetable for his return. It's been a frustrating summer for Bosa, who missed most of training camp due to a contract dispute and injured himself at his first day of practice.

Josh Doctson - WR - Redskins

Josh Doctson (Achilles) is questionable for Week 2 against the Cowboys.

He was a full participant at practice this week, so his status isn't in doubt. Doctson was only on the field for 12 snaps in Week 1, securing his only target for nine yards in a loss to Pittsburgh. His role should increase steadily throughout the year, but right now Doctson doesn't offer much fantasy appeal.

KeiVarae Russell - DB - Free Agent

Chiefs waived CB KeiVarae Russell.

Russell was the No. 74 overall pick in this year's draft. It's awfully early to be giving up on such a high draft pick, but Russell must not have been showing much of anything this summer. They'll likely try to sneak him back on the practice squad. At 5'11/192, Russell ran 4.49 with a 38 1/2-inch vertical and 11-foot-2 broad jump.

KeiVarae Russell - DB - Bengals

Bengals claimed CB KeiVarae Russell off waivers from the Chiefs.

The No. 74 overall pick of the draft, Russell was a shocking release from the Chiefs. Russell is a top-notch athlete with typical size for a corner (5-foot-11, 192 pounds), but was simply never that good for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He also broke his leg last fall. The Bengals, who have made a habit out of developing other team's misfit toys, will try to see if they can get Russell's career on track.

Cody Kessler - QB - Browns

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Browns third-round QB Cody Kessler is "not close to being ready to play."

With Robert Griffin III (shoulder) on injured reserve and new starter Josh McCown as brittle as they come, this is a big concern for Cleveland. It is likely Kessler makes starts this season ready or not. Even though the injury to Griffin is good in the short-term for Cleveland's fantasy assets, it would be tough to trust Corey Coleman and company with Kessler running the show.

Sterling Shepard - WR - Giants

Saints coach Sean Payton compared Giants second-round WR Sterling Shepard to Randall Cobb.

It was not the only praise Shepard received this week. Former Giants and current Jaguars CB Prince Amukamara, who worked with the rookie over the summer, said Shepard "has a combination of [Victor] Cruz's and Odell [Beckham's] skillset." Shepard showed off his athletic ability with a leaping touchdown grab in his NFL debut, but he also did not do enough to break up an Eli Manning interception. Those mistakes will happen, but Shepard clearly has a high ceiling.
