Melo is at his absolute best when he plays within the flow, spots up for kickouts, etc.

Iso ball is for the birds.

Kp has to be the 1st option, thats the only way this team will succeed.

At least Rose passed to KP, looked for him and set him up for good attempts. Getting Jose to do even just that was near impossible.

You know that guy will go 110% all the time. That's something that I think guys Nature Boy (N'Dour) and Plumlee would be able to bring to the team.

I always like when we have someone on the team that you might seriously question if they have a screw loose in their head at times (In a good way.. not the complete lack of B-Ball IQ resulting in complete headscratching plays type of screw loose)

Like when we brought in KMart... I love that type of ish. A crazy S.O.B that takes no B.S. Hopefully Noah can stay healthy enough to be that type of player for the starting lineup

I thought Lou Amundson could fill Lou Amundson's role.

Well, if I had to pick b/t the two I would rather have the younger energy big that has two brothers in the league.

I knew he had T-Rex arms, but didn't know he had some bounce! Dem boys can jump

I hear ya. He's got a lot of energy and not afraid of contact. If the front office decided to go with him, I'm cool with that. I just think he could use this time to hone his game in Westchester while we keep Amundson, a veteran, at the end of the bench.

The clippers have made the playoffs the last 5 years in a row and they're playing one of the best teams ever assembled. If you want to make a bad passively aggressive comparison.. mission accomplished. You been on this forum huffing and puffing defending Carmelo's Knicks tenure for the same last 5 years.. have you had a chance to look back at it?

But should the Clippers really be down almost 60 points midway through the 3rd? 8-)

You do realize that they played the Warriors, right?

I can't stop laughing at the offense has to flow through KP comments.

This is one preseason game, he hit 5-6 3pt shots, in which he didn't create most of the shots for himself. Those shots and plays will be there for him, if he knocks them down...Great. Let's hope it continues. He didn't showcase that his offense out of the post or off the dribble can benefit others as well.

I hope that he can be the guy, but some of you seem convinced. But, his skill level has clearly grown, hopefully he has taken a big leap forward.

Melo didn't have the type of gameplan that I expected of him. I expected more of him being aggressive, and sharing the ball like last year. But again, first preseason game, so I don't care. Good thing was he looked no slower or older than a season ago, where he had an all star year.

D Rose was strong individually. I think we all have to be happy with the raw talent that we saw tonight from him. He had bounce, penetrated, finished, shot well from mid range, and got others involved in the full court and half court.

Courtney Lee is a true 2 guard. Not a star or anything, but a true 2 guard. I've seen him in his career, but hadn't watched him recently as he's gotten a bit older. By true 2 guard, he's not just a 3 & D player, he can put the ball on the floor and make plays for himself and possibly others, play quality defense, and hit the open shot. Love that pickup.

KOQ was useless, and a bad installation into the starting lineup. He's just a body. Should've gone small, and given themselves a look at what could be a very important lineup for them with Melo at the 4 and KP at 5.

Gomez looks serviceable offensively, but has a long way to go.

I definitely think Jennings looked solid out there.

Bottom line is this team has great talent. I think everyone here must feel better about the talent level of this team than even a day ago. Rose looked like he hadn't lost a step (we know he has, but...), KP has new moves and hopefully confidence, Haven't even seen Noah yet, and you know what you get from Melo. But, they have to figure out a style of play on both sides of the ball. Tonight was a cool display of talent, but not of teamplay.

I agree 100% with that. I just hope that since we gave him a "guaranteed" contract he would decide to sign with our D-League team if he was beaten out for a spot by someone like Lou/N'Dour. I actually think that might be one of the reasons they gave guaranteed contracts to some of those young guys, so that they would be more inclined to stick with our D-League team and grow in a system similar to what the actual team would be running.

I will tell you what though, I was surprised by his play. He looked a lot better in this game than the limited time I saw him in the Summer League.

Would Hernangomez do better in the starting lineup than O'Quinn?

I agree with that. Preseason is to work on installing what you would like to do, and get guys into rhythm playing against actual competition. Melo was attempting to get into a scoring rhythm. Mission not accomplished. But, not like he took 20 shots or anything through 3 quarters.

Sky is falling after 1st preseason game?

Noah wasn't there, Rose is getting acclimated, the bench is almost entirely new and needs time to gel.

Obviously I'm not beating the drum that this is an ECF team or a great team, but I also don't think they will be as bad ss some think.

He is. But he's gonna iso at times. People need to relax on this a bit. It is so cliche. All the dominant scorers in the league iso but Melo gets most grief for it. Heck kp is a future iso beast.

It's very hard for most bigs to stand out in summer league. Too many guards and swings going for theirs.

It shouldn't. O'quinn needs to play better soon. Dude has been a bust here so far. This is NOT nice Kyle.

What were people expecting on our first preseason game with a mostly new starting lineup? Perfect synergy?
