If you don't want the Knicks to run that play then fine but the pinch post ISO play is a staple in the triangle offense. As long as we are running the triangle the weak side pinch post ISO play will be a major point of the offense. That is the flow of the offense. That isn't Melo calling for an ISO and ignoring the team. That is the play the team is running. So in terms of the flow of the offense that is the offense.
If the staff wants him to take less ISO then they need to call more pick and roll and less pinch post ISO. But acting like Melo is breaking the offense by going ISO is false and misguided as the ISO post up is part of the offense.
Well I guess that's where my problem lies. I don't think its a bad play with a Kerr/Fisher/Calderon type of pg. But with Rose and Jennings being penetrators who aren't great shooters I just feel there should be more penetrate and kick.
My comments weren't really about judging Melo based on a preseason game. If anyone wants to accuse me of anything after one preseason game its me finding alot of potential alot of potential in other players and that I can see options that may become stifled with.....I guess the pinch post.
You say its part of the triangle, it's preseason and you gotta perfect your staple play but I hope it gets phased out or reduced in favor of pick and roll, pick and pop and basic penetrate and kick principles. Easy offense.
