We have a 2nd creator and his name is Yogi. We need him to make the team.

I agree I think he's our best option at the backup PG. Cut Vasquez, Whitehead can be injury fill-in

Let me save you some anguish now.

Unless he succumbs to a new injury, Vazquez isn't getting cut.

Just like most players rehabilating from major injuries, it's going to take a while before he looks like his old self.

He was never a defensive savant so now that his offense isn't great he looks terrible all-around.

Unlike the Beech and Mockevicius who will be sent to the D-League, the team is chalking up his struggles to severe rust.

Nice to see Nets trying a Lin-Vasquez back court.

Sooner. He has height, length, and he's a very good athlete for that size. He can develop his 3pt shooting and has potential on both ends of the floor. However, I'm afraid it'll remain "potential". He just doesn't have a good feel for the game. His aggression comes in spurts (he plays passive most of the time), and his decision making isn't good either. Also the fact that he's a tweener because despite his height, he doesn't have a big frame to play PF long term. I kinda feel bad saying this because by all accounts, he's a good kid who works very hard (worked on his game all summer) and he has the determination to get better. But at the same time, there's no improvement to be seen in his game and poor bball IQ players suddenly don't become good bball IQ players. I hope I'm wrong on him but I don't see a long term future for him in the NBA.

Those guys hustle and its great but their offense is hard to watch - especially when try to force it. really impressed by some of the other shooters, Harris, Hamilton. Those guys will be great as spot up shooters.

Hopefully there will be a few other players who can emerge as a good penetrator other than Lin to have more options for the team or someone who can create their shot. Although Bogan is pretty sick.

Overall I think this team is going to surprise the league. They have hustle and heart, just need to pull it together and see if others will step up besides the main players who we already know will produce.

I've been saying for a while now that this team's weakness is going to be that they don't have a second creator/ball handler alonside Lin. I think they're hoping Vasquez will be that, when the need arises. But I think needing a second creator/ball handler is exactly the reason Marks wanted Tyler Johnson. He was going to be our sixth man, playing backup PG and SG minutes alongside Lin. Speaking of him, I thought Tyler Johnson looked pretty good tonight and you can see the talent that made him get that offer sheet from us.

TJ and Crabbe would've been great fits here. Having those guys would've brought the ceiling of this team up to about 40 wins.

No point in rehashing it now though, other than to say Marks has been targeting good pieces.

On that topic, Hamilton is a lot better than I thought he would be. Having a stretch-5 is a really interesting changeup from what Brook provides.

That said, this team desperately needs quite a few things.

- A big that can play both 4/5 and defend the Pick N Roll
- A secondary playmaker on the wing
- 6th man chucker
- Another perimeter defender

Those are lots of things to be missing. Sub-30 win season looks very likely right now even if Brook & Lin play at a high level. Team just doesn't have the talent.
On October 31, 2009, against the Kings, a bat descended onto the court causing a stoppage of play. As the bat flew past, Ginóbili swatted the bat to the ground with his hand. He then carried the creature off the court, earning the applause of the crowd.

We have a 6th man chucker. Sean Kilpatrick. Or Randy Foye if he can get his shot back.

6th man is not necessarily a chucker, a good 6th man in other teams would automatically a starter for this Nets...
the Nets just need better talents

TBF, Whiteside is an anomaly in this league. THE best shot blocker, disrupts a lot of things, tough to defend without BroLo. Good to have this experience.

Vasquez is stupid enough to challenge Whiteside around the rim

Haha, ya, him and Booker. Good thing it is the preseason, trying things out I guess

I dun like this combo. Vas still has a long way to go before he can be effective shooting the ball. Being a reliable on both ends could hurt your chance of winning bb-game at the most crucial moment. Lin is better paired up with Kil, Bogs or Foye in the crunch time.

Yea I hadn't seen much of his game, but definitely not living up to the hype I'd heard from this forum so far. Hopefully he's just had a few bad games and will start going harder on defense once the regular season starts. Right now defensively he is getting torched and with his offensive inability that can't happen. I'm thinking perhaps the best starting five and 9-man rotation is Lin, Foye, Bogs, Scola, Lopez with backups being Whitehead/Vasquez (rough choice either way), Skill, RHJ, Hamilton

It's preseason. In the first game he was one of the best players on the floor. And yeah, good look putting Bojan at SF and thinking he won't get torched on D. Scola works best with the 2nd unit. but I think we may need him earlier in the game.

it's preseason. You guys need to relax, nevermind the fact that we need to get our full squad on the floor playing together before making kneejerk decisions
