Red_Claw wrote:Year 1 was a write off for Bruno to get acclimated so my expectation were very low.
Year 2, i expected to see some linear improvement and was happy about some of the results
In Year 3, its time to grow up. I don't expect Bruno to be a rotation player but there needs to be some results in the Big league and D-League. Ive been very underwhelmed by his limited minutes and feel like this "shift to PF" is the beginning of the end for him.
Why did you stop at Year 3?...
Year 4, He's no better at PF and Masai finally realizes the problem isn't the position he plays but he's just not good, and his 2017 team option is not picked up and he is out of the NBA.
Year 5, Bruno is McDonalds employee of the year in Sao Paulo. Since Kevin Durant once signed an endorsement deal with McDonalds, Bruno finally fulfills his fate as the Brazilian Kevin Durant.

I'm hoping the Raptors draft an elite player again some time in the next 20 years. It's been a while.

True man. At least we got one for the 12th pick a while back.

We should all be grateful that Nash didn't want to sign with us. Would have been a disaster and would have never made ECF.

You can hit shots as much as you want in practice but up until last year he wasn't getting regular minutes in the dleague.
6-7 years ???
Masai could be working with another team by then, thats longer than most players careers.
If you have to wait that long for your 20th pick to become NBA level then ... geez never be a GM.

Not every swing is going to be a home run.
By this point, I'm ok if they move him in a package as a throw in (or just cut him).
In retrospect pairing him with Bebe was probably a bad idea, he picked up a lot of bad habbits from him...zero drive or determination. Bebe was just a bad role model for a young kid to look up to.

New CBA will allow 16th and 17th roster spots for D League players. Bruno rides again!

I understand Raps brass' logic that Bruno is freak of nature and as such worth taking chance with. We all had fun with 2 years from being 2 years away. Since now he is only two years away, we have to evaluate in normal terms and the result is that he failed miserably and should have been cut because he takes rooster spot for someone who can actually play and contribute.

We've been mistaken all this time, thinking he was the Brazilian Kevin Durant.
Turns out he is the Brazilian Kevin Garnett.

I dont even know if bruno has the potential to be a third string player. This was a risky pick from the start, and it's come back to bite masai. Might be his worst draft pick.
Just a waste of a 20th pick

Unless you're a fan of the 905. Bruno is single-handedly responsible for it's existence.
Is anybody here a marine biologist?

Bruno seems like the Brazilian waif or flake to me.

Not sure why the writer emphasized that, but I thought most expected us to take Capela with that pick at the time....no?
I had Capela ahead of Hood on my list at the time. Obviously I was wrong. Not as wrong as Masai though. Even Capela has turned out to be a better pick than Caboclo. But they are all still young. I hope Bruno eventually does become the best player of the three.
I wasn't a fan of drafting one way bigs as a lot of these athletic guys either turn out too dumb to put it all together on defense or not skilled enough to develop decent offense. I think a few wanted Capela, but not the majority. Most people didn't consider (or know about) Hood because it was assumed he would be selected by our pick.
It was (strongly) rumored on draft day that we were going for Capela. No idea where the rumor came from, or if accurate, but it certainly made sense.

You could argue no GM would draft Bruno with a 20th pick to begin with.
Bruno should've been one of those 2nd round picks you have the rights to for many years and maybe he comes to the NBA down the road and maybe he doesn't but in the end it was a 2nd round gamble.

All but given up on the kid becoming a quality rotation player. It'd be one thing if he outperformed his D-League competition but he's not even capable of that yet.
