FlashFlood wrote:I was pretty impressed with Hernangomez. If Willy can play like this consistently, Joakim has to go. He looked like Chris Webber with those mitts. Finished with both hands, made some great passes and caught some threaded needles. I'm looking forward to seeing how this rookie plays for the rest of the year.

Kuz imo showed why he hasn't been getting much burn. Against NBA teams with real wings, he seems just average. His shooting ability is pretty good. Good cuts. Just, he won't be effective until he acclimates more to the NBA.

Brandon Jennings is wow. Dont fall in love with the guy though, that fancy stuff works in the regular season, but it's not playoff basketball.

KP once again matches up against a 7'2" behemoth and it shows how far behind his body is. He's got distinct quickness and speed advantage, but he gets tossed around and bodied. Reminds me of Dirk in that regard. Hope he develops a bit more toughness, like KG, Pau, and other lanky agile bigs like him.

Melo showed flashes of the game that brought him to NYC. I wonder how many years he can keep going at this rate... He never really relied on his athleticism, and his strength is always going to be there. He might be good for another contract.

Rose is looking hella fast. He's not jumping out of the building any more but he is one of the fastest guards I've seen don a Knicks uniform. Ridiculous athleticism.

Kevin Garnett / Tim Duncan are those guys that I hope KP tries to strive for in terms of physicality. Those 2 are not bulky at all but are quite strong deceptively inspite of their wiry frames.

Way way more athletic and quicker Marc with worse defence, hmm maybe. Not to mention that Marc got to NBA when he was 24.

Anyways great prospect

It was good to bench Lance. Think jeff is learning.

Go with skill, chemistry, talent over guys who cannot play basketball but give "work hard". Effort can only get you so far when you flat out suck as a basketball player.

I still like KP running with Jennings and our Euro Bench players. Kp gets to be the main feature, and they have great chemistry.

Melo looks amazing playing the 4. Keep him there.

Great post! And to piggy-back... for the life of me, I don't understand why Lance thinks he's Vinny Johnson

As soon as he enters the game (and it's becoming a bad habit) he starts chucking up shots and as another poster pointed out - he constantly has his foot on the 3 point line. UUUGGGHHHHHH

Imo, it's obvious that Kuz should be taking those minutes... Kuz just looks so fluid out there and I swear his defense is just as good as Lance's. Loved how he stayed in front of a quicker guard and loved how he didn't force anything! Really good signing by Phil.

Jennings has great vision as a PG and is impressing as hounding defender as well. He pretty much turned the game around for us single-handedly.

Noah should start as I still think he has plenty of game left, but Willy should EASILY take Oquinn's minutes and O'Quinn & Lance should NEVER EVER EEEVVVVEEEEERRRRR be on the court at the same time! :nonono: :nonono: :nonono:

Can't believe I'm saying this but was glad to see Sasha enter the game... dude has been hitting shots. WHO KNEW?!?!

As for Melo he seemed lackadaisical in the first half but bounced back. Sadly, he's no longer the spry SF he used to be (too slow now) but he's still a great scorer and did have a few nice passes.

Good win against a team they were supposed to beat. Need these games while they're still learning ea other's games and if they're going to make the playoffs, you can't lose games like these.

that's what a real coach does. he did the same for melo when he hit 14 in a row.

watching a coach make adjustments DURING the game is something i have never seen since ive been a fan of the knicks, not even larry brown.

2. if you watch #13 from the nets (guy guarding hernangomez) it looks like he's doing a new, cool dance move. but the defense resembles that bargnani .gif against the spurs.

Marc plays defense. Willy's defense is Pau like.

Hernangomez definitely needs more burn, he looks like an NBA player. His defense will be more exposed against better teams but his instincts are better than given credit for - his foot speed means his defensive ceiling probably isn't high but he should be able to hold his own with experience. At the very least give him enough time per game to grow.

It was nice to see ennings play distributor. He still did dumb stuff out there and that's why he's better off on the bench, but it's nice to see him be effective. I'll take stat lines like that from him anyday.

Kuz should also be a rotation player, he has a lot of issues but he has more talent than Lance.

Pau is 7', Willy is 6'10". This alone is significant.

Being realistic, we can't expect him to be either Gasol, but I'm glad he's locked up for now, he's a player worth developing.

Really enjoyed the second half of the game, it was great to see the Euro squad put it together and play well as a unit. Also while a lot of people come down hard on Melo I don't see us winning if he didn't do his thing and get us back into the game.

No more Lance Thomas or KOQ, not when we have a unit who looks as promising as this, I say give them burn together and see how it works out.

As for coaching last night, it was much better and I am cautiously optimistic that Jeff will finally put it all together.

I think the Euros are always moving without the ball no matter what. We should give them more burn.

KP and Willy are our present and future cornerstone... I love Willy's game so much, he is like a 22 yo version of Marc Gasol.

Kuz can be that complementary/ Manu Ginobili piece. I wish he was younger, but he still got a good 5-8 yrs window as that super role player.

Lee can stick around. Jennings is our sparkplug off the bench, co best passer on team with Noah, as long as he's satisfied coming off the bench, he's a keeper.

Noah is still valuable imo, he has the game savvy, defense, passing, game passion and intagibles that are not easily replaceable. As long as he plays 25mpg, and the other minutes go to Willy for his steady growth, Noah's a positive for our team, he can have some good games here and there like the Bulls game.

Melo can be traded for the right price.

It's good to see that melo can still take over a game when needed to. We gonna need that in playoffs. (Yes I still believe we can make it)

As much as I like Melo - I, too would trade him but I'd ensure (playing gm here) he ended up on a contender (only way he'd wave the ntc).... Clippers, Cavs are two that come to mind quickly and I'd also make sure we get back multiple picks and/or young GOOD players. It'll never happen of course.

its not even worth it. well end up with a pick in the late first and which "good" players would we get? those teams arent depleting their team for melo. hes fine here honestly despite all the hate he gets

I will say this...Hernangomez looks to be in amazing condition. Rarely do you see a guy look faster and more explosive in person than in highlight clips. Not saying he's a gazelle or anything but he looks a lot better right now than in those "highlight" clips IMO.

The bench play gives a lot of hope. Willy/KP/Kuz/BJ and Sasha/Holiday.

The unit played solid defense too. Not the best bench around, but here is enough talent that it can be a successful unit.

Overall, KP was much better on defense this game...at least in the 2nd half.

I was ticked off throughout the first half as the first team allowed the Nets to thrive, but thrilled by the play of the Euro group in the second half. That was exciting! Willy has to play more minutes.

SOBs at work have blocked RealGM using filtering software. What a bummer.
