Porter should definitely get more touches, especially late in the game when Wall likes to do his iso chuck routine

I appreciate you too, Ruz. To me, when analysis shows that things are different from what a surface examination shows, I don't think the correct way to respond is to suggest that analysis wasn't required in the first place.

PG and OP are very different kinds of players. The league is full of different kinds of players.

Games, however, are decided by numbers and nothing else. For fun, or to do me a favor, look at per 40 minute numbers for both these players' 3d seasons. Let me know what those numbers tell you.

Pif, happy to say I gotta give you this - Otto's been impressive this season, and tonight's game was a revelation. I might be wro... wro... wrong.

Otto took a lot of crap on here his first two seasons but he might be the best draft pick EG has made in 14 years.

Even before this game, Otto had a PER of 18.7 and a TS% of 62 - with 0.6 turnovers per 40 minutes. That's efficient. With this game, it's safe to say his numbers are all-star quality.

Otto Porter is already better than Beal by a good bit.

He has the potential to be just as effective or more than Wall right now.

A few of us have been saying this guy is really good.

Really liking his shooting touch this game. Of course I love how he brings it in many facets of the game by crashing the boards and being a pretty smart player on offense. I hope he can be durable with that slight frame.

Small ball is the way to go for this team. Play Otto at the 4.

Trade Beal.

Play Otto at the 4 and who at the 3? Oubre isn't even in the rotation and for good reason. Beal is untradeable, he had the worst contract in the league the moment he signed it.

I just watched Porter's highlights from last night. Man that performance alone makes me not want to miss the next Wizards game. Not sure how to put it into words but the motion of his stroke just looks confident.

Even I've been saying he's good, but one person has been saying he's one of the top young players in the NBA.

Per36, he is averaging 17.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.5 steals, 0.6 blocks and 0.4 turnovers

After missing his first 9 3PA's, his 3P% has climbed up to 31.8%. He has made 7 of his last 13 3's.

He is unconscious from 2P range. His 2P% is 70.7%. He is shooting 80% from 10-15 feet and 53.3% from 16-22 feet.

I love this part about his game. I think in today's NBA you rarely see someone who is a good at this. Most players are either shooting the 3 or trying to finish at the rim. His game kinda reminds of RIP Hamilton......I guess his body type as well

Before the season wasn't someone saying that Sato would take some of Porter's minutes at the 3? I think we can rule that out.

Amazing. Draftexpress has his per at 24.2. Last season, he was 14.4 with the TS% at 56 - and those numbers were significantly better than the season before. This seasons numbers are not likely sustainable, but they don't have to be to show great improvement.

His EFF was 53 vs BOSTON!
His EFF/minute around 0.65!!! (158 in 242 minutes)

Bradly Beal has 74 EFF in 219 minutes. The worst EFF of starting 5. His salary is 4 times higher than Porter salary. The worst is that we may lose Porter because of Beal salary.

In 7 games, Bradley Beal has only one game where his (EFF/minute) was > 0.5

Wall & Porter have an average of 0,65 and Gortat 0,57...There is no other player to have above 0.5 except McClellan (but he has played under 10 min)

FWIW, PER is already a per minute stat. A bench guy who plays just 4 minutes with average production isn't 10 times better than a starter who plays 40 minutes with average production. It doesn't make sense to use PER/minute as a metric.

Sorry I was using EFF

(PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK − Missed FG − Missed FT − TO) / GP

Formula can penalize defenders ... Post corrected

Last year Porter's rebounding was pretty weak. Looks like he got the memo. His offensive rebounding isn't sustainable though. The scouting report will catch up to him. Right now he is catching teams by surprise.

This is the only thread on the board that gives me any sense of optimism (other than the politics thread, of course). I think I'll reset my RealGM bookmark to bring me to this thread. Every other basketball thread is so depressing. This team stinks so bad and there is no hope in sight.
