Early unintended tank is on in Miami. Losers of five straight. Winslow, Ellington, and Dragic all out vs. Hawks. Their starters: McGruder, Richardson, Waiters, Williams, and Whiteside.

Lakers beating the Nets would be nice. Up 8 with 6 to go.

Close game coming down the stretch, but the Lakers should win it.

Just like I predicted the Nets lost to the Clippers, and Lakers. Next lost coming up against the Thunder.

Net's pick gaining more value. Is there a realistic trade option for this pick that would give us the BIG guy we need? Cause surely i don't think the KINGS are realistic trade partners with cousins since it's a pick swap, they don't want to tank while having nets do the tanking(being awful to land 3-5). Unless there's a third team involved with this pick, i see a little window for this pick to help us get that BIG guy.

Nets next three games:

@OKC (6-5)
v.POR (7-5)
v.BOS (5-5)

Not the murderers row it could/should have been. But, hopefully we take care of business and send them to 4-10, and get the wheels moving a little bit on the inevitable Lopez trade.

The current problem isn't the Nets being bad because they clearly are a bad team. The current problem is that there are more bad teams than at least I realized coming into the season, and they are going to start watching college basketball just like all of us and see the talent that is on the horizon.

Dallas, Miami, Sacramento, Minnesota, Phoenix are all really bad teams that are very soon going to give up on the season and start thinking about next season.

New Orleans, Washington, and Denver all should be decent teams but so far can't get it together. Hopefully, they rally and start thinking about sneaking into the playoffs, but that is something you can't really count on.

So if you add in the woeful Sixers, that's 9 teams that are going to lose a ton of games, and where the Nets fall in the collection of dysfunction is totally up in the air.

I'm starting to think more and more that we need to remove the element of chance in getting a top pick and pounce on Cousins when he inevitably comes available.

76ers are 4 years into the Great Tank and are sitting at NBA worst 1-9. No comment necessary.

At the same time, we all see the value of a tip pick. I mean, that's why we follow this thread.

Don't you think Marc Cuban and Pat Reilly also see the value of a top pick in this draft?

^^^just mocking the Sixers. No doubt top picks are nice to have -- especially if you don't have to tank to get them.

No doubt. Sixers are a trainwreck. Mostly because they aren't managing their assets well.

10 teams are currently sitting on worse records than the Nets. Probably a few more if they beat Phoenix tonight. You're about a season behind, as Philly and Brooklyn aren't the two worst teams again like last year.

I disagree...538 still pegs the Sixers and Nets to finish with the two worst records, although the Suns and Pelicans are right there. Pelicans will get some help back soon and the Suns should win more games as their young players adapt to the NBA. Are there other teams that could enter the equation? certainly. just if I were a betting man I would put my money on the Sixers and Nets to have the two worst records.

Agreed, anybody else notice how there hasn't been a single injury update on Nerlens Noel. This team is not trying to win games.

538 unfortunately trashed their old(good) algorithm from last year to do a new one and it is far less reliable. Still better than straight up looking at current records.

The Nets should be a lock to end up near the bottom, unless their roster continues to overachieve which I find unlikely.

When has Dallas ever thrown a season with Mark Cuban at the helm? It just doesn't happen, and when Dirk and D-Will come back they've still got an okay enough roster to string some wins together. Miami maybe, but they've still got Whiteside who they just signed to big coin, plus Dragic so that's enough talent to win them some games. No idea why you're throwing in Sacramento and Minnesota. The Kings have a chance to hang around the 8th seed this season with the West looking like being a lot weaker this year.

The Wolves have started slow, but that was to be expected with Rubio out. Dunn and Jones as the points early in the season was far from ideal. They're also going real well offensively and defensively they'll start to get the hang of Thibs' system soon enough. They've got far too much talent to end up in the lottery again. Phoenix same deal in my opinion.

Pelicans, Wizards and Nuggets all have some reasonable talent too. Davis only needs a capable player or two around him and the Pelicans will turn the season around completely. Nuggets have talent too and have never really been one to throw the season, even more so with all these young guys trying to learn how to win. Wizards may be one to end up in the lottery, but they've still got John Wall who will win them games.

Call me overly optimistic but a lot of those teams have far more potential to win games this year than the Nets do. It will only take an injury to Booker or Lopez and one other key guy for them to go on a huge losing run.

At least a couple of those teams you named will probably end up at the bottom, it's just the way things work, but there's no way they're all going to be significant chances to be in the lottery.

The 76ers really should have more wins too, but the lack of guards is killing them. Fully expect Simmons and Noel to come in and add something to that team.

The way I see it, the Nets will begin dropping off soon, and it will be between them the 76ers, Mavericks who I think will just keep getting killed by injuries, Heat and then probably a team like the Magic or Wizards.

Suns, Pelicans, Nuggets, Kings and Wolves should not be at the bottom this season unless injuries hold them down. The Pelicans may look ordinary now, but we've already seen they can knock off teams when Davis has someone else beside him to provide support. Holiday is about to return and they'll get Evans back soon too.

Aside from prediction machines, have you watched the Miami Heat? They are dreadful and will be right there with Nets and Philly for worst record in the East. I think the Magic and Wizards will be staying right where they are, too. Neither team playing well as a unit, especially Washington, and both may end up making trades.

Miami's been much better than their record this year. Middle of the pack SRS and Net Rating(unfortunately BKN is in that spot as well right now). They might have incentive to look passable to FAs rather than a bottom 5, tanking dumpster fire but who knows? Orlando's been legitimately dreadful. Washington will be fine.
