How have you been?

Things have been going well for the most part. Just been kinda busy of late.

We've had a marked increase in the volume of people visiting/joining the Nets board, which is almost certainly due to Lin coming to the Nets. It's been good to see the game threads go longer than a few pages.

As I'm sure you can tell, the vibe on here is different than what it used to be. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it is different.

How has everyone been? Can I get a life check on everyone? Vince, you around? Jeff? How have you both been?

VC pops in every once in a while. He's usually complaining about traffic on the Turnpike or something.

Jeff has abandoned contributing to the board for playing a lot of Xbox 1 games.

You're not a contributing member of the board and you're using the board solely as a way to promote your music. Piss off.

Ror,

Halfhavoc has been a Nets fan (and has posted his music) on this board for many years. While it is not directly Nets related, it is something that has become a tradition.

If you want to discuss whether members should be allowed to post their own material here, we can have that talk. But telling another Nets fan (who has been around for a very long time) to "piss off" because you do not like/are unfamiliar with the tradition is not right.

There are much better ways to go about addressing this.

Thank you my brother. Been here since 2006...lol I feel like an old veteran on the bench getting disrespected. I just don't post actively otherwise because to be fair, haven't had a chance to watch any NBA games much this season, looking to catch up over winter break to see how the squad is doing in person. I'm usually just here to get your guys input as filler in the meantime.

So were going to just ignore the fact that his posts break the rules and that he's just using the board for his personal gain? There's a random topic thread is there not? If he wanted to share his music he could post it there. But when he makes his own thread, and doesn't bother to comment on any net news so its clear what his intentions are. I'm not going to apologize for telling him to piss off either. You guys allow and defend this BS but god forbid somebody makes a thread to follow the Celtics pick? How does that make sense?

Lol tough talk over the internet my G. I didn't know you ran Real GM. FYI I was contributing when you were still in diapers, so settle down. It says {OT], you can ignore what you don't want to see. This is a forum not some authoritarian government.

I don't see how I'm talking tough. If I offended you then its because you're hurt that you got called out on your BS.

I'm 19? Woah dude what a sick comeback. Did you think of that all by yourself? How about you write a song about it.

This is a forum, you're right. Its a nets forum, not world star hip hop.

No one is ignoring this. As I said, we can have a (civil) discussion about this.

But you also need to understand that for something that has been a tradition for more than a decade and no one else having a problem with it, things are not going to change at a moment's notice.

With that said, just because something a tradition doesn't make it right. Your point of critique is being taken into consideration by the mods and we will be discussing whether things of this nature should be relegated to the Random Thoughts thread.

However, what is currently undermining the innocence of your claim is 1) your aggressive/smuggish approach to this issue, 2) unwillingness to even hear the other side.

This a Nets fans forum. We spend most of our time commiserating and supporting each other on topics both Nets-related and non Nets-related. Repeatedly telling a fellow Nets fan to piss off isn't conducive to community formation nor does it shed a positive light on your willingness to engage other posters with differing view points.

If you "don't care" and still want others to "piss off", how is that helping anyone?

And now we're tying this issue to the Celtics pick thread because you don't want to talk about it in the avenues/threads that have already been suggested? It's one thing to have a civil discussion; it's another thing to backseat moderate and be condescending especially towards other Nets fans.

Shahroz, we're going to merge this thread with the Random Thoughts thread for now.

While I do not endorse the approach Ror1997 used to address you or this topic, he is technically correct about product promotion. Also, since the RT thread is stickied, you'd probably get more hits and commentary from us over time.

The "OG" RealGM Nets posters still check that thread on a regular basis (e.g. JG, VC4P, Jeff) and you might get more commentary from them and the new breed if it's posted there over the long haul. WIth the number of threads made on this board, this non-stickied thread would only remain on the front page for a week or so. At least with the RT thread, it's more slow moving and is perpetually on the first page of the board.

How do people feel about the Acer R11 Chromebook?

Think I'm going to pick one up tonight for $160. It's an Acer factory refurb.

It all depends on what you are trying to do. That Chromebook will be good for web browsing or watching video streams (i.e. Netflix, Youtube). If you are pretty good with PC you can bypass some of the Chromebook's restrictions like skype and such. However, if you are you just gonna use it for RealGM its not a bad purchase.

Yeah, I'm pretty much just looking something for multi tab Web browsing, streaming music, videos, bball games, etc., and something I can link up with my phone for making lists, notes and emails.

I have a relatively nice 2 year old ultrabook for demanding stuff, I just want something nice for teh interwebz that's highly portable and cheap.

Just remember don't expect the chromebook to be as powerful as your ultrabook. That Chromebook has an Intel Celeron i.e. really crap.

Bah! I fell asleep while literally watching reviews on Youtube and slept through the alarm I set just in case I did exactly that, then woke up less than 30 minutes after the deal of the day price ended. I was even going to cop a 2nd one as a gift for someone!

I am the worst lol.

I'm sure there will be more similar deals before Christmas, but I doubt the exact same deal, which was about the max I would justify spending on a Chromebook.

There are others right now for similar prices, but still a hair more expensive and most of those have a truly meager 2gb of RAM or have an even worse than the R11's screen.

Oh well lol.

So I wound up copping one from Acer's Certified Refurb store. It's the newest model which just came out in late July. Really love this thing for what it is. I do wonder what was wrong with this one and all the others they sell that they needed to replace them with new ones under warranty, then refurbish these and resell them, all since the summer.

I thought there was a lot of dribbling out there last night. A lot of really bad shots and when there were good shots no one made them....Lin was good as usual...steady...Hes a really good player i think. Im not sure Lopez would have made a different but perhaps.

This is going to be a long season. The prior GM should never be involved with basketball again. He made some really horrific decisions and simply KILLED this team.

Happy Holidays everybody. Did you give or receive any Nets related gifts?

Post#717 » by Ror1997 » Sun Dec 25, 2016 2:58 pm

Mods, if this thread isn't allowed you can lock it. Thought it would be cool to share what nets gifts we got.

I got a nets blanket and a nets hoodie.

I only go to mass on Christmas lol. No presents for me. The gift I want this year that would cheer me up is for the Nets to show improvement and keep trying hard to make games entertaining. I really hope they still give 100% effort, even though we have fallen in such a deep hole.

And in honor of this day, a classic from you:

Fra-Gile, it must be Greg Oden.

We'll open the gift of beating the Hornets on boxing day night.

Guys are back and hungry, three straight losses against elite teams.
