Bj Armstrong has turned into a cancer of an agent. From not reporting his client to the team to which he's contractually obligated, to his and Draymond's defiance towards the NBA, to the long and troubled history between Derrick rose and the Bulls.

Parsons felt he was a superstar and the Rockets didn't. Wow the Rockets suck tbh. Dwight is Dwight. I think more nba players dislike Dwight than any organization. And Asik got mad they acquired a superstar at his position. So what.
Why does no other organization have these issues? The Rockets had a good player in Parsons, maybe not a star, but don't go out and publicly say you're looking for another star. That's bush league.
Dwight is a pain in the ass but teams still want to sign him, and the fact that the FO tried to meddle with rotations when they realized they werent going to bring him back is an issue. Or maybe that it went public is the issue. Either way, its now public knowledge.
Asik got mad that a promise was broken. And he had a right to be angry, because if you promise someone something to sign them and then dont honor it, that's a huge breach of trust.
So what? So Morey has a bad reputation for being robotic and untrustworthy. And if you guys are happy with your haul of Eric Gordon for 52m and Ryan Anderson for 80m, cool. But the Rockets don't seem to be the destination that they were touted to be after landing Dwight, and their GM sure isn't helping that perception.
Once again where is a legit report that the Rockets promised Asik anything? That does not sound like Morey and this thread is the first I ever heard of it.
And the Rockets did not publicly say anything. It was Parsons that said that.

Re: Rockets match Nets offer for Donuts
Someone already posted that earlier in the thread, while quoting you. I'm not a Rockets fan and I heard about that, a lot actually. All 3 incidents I heard, a lot. And yes, Morey did publicly say something:
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2094119-biggest-hurdles-in-houston-rockets-pursuit-for-a-third-superstar
They then proceeded to let Parsons test RFA a year early. Parsons only groused after the fact that Morey implied they needed a 3rd star caliber player.

We feel very comfortable that our two top players are what we need to be a championship team," said Morey. "And we do need someone to step into that third role. We don't have our third-best player on a championship team yet, and we need one of younger guys to develop into that -- or potentially make an addition, whether it be this year or in free agency this offseason.

I don't believe they had a legit source for the Asik thing. Just like you do not. He was just mad like most people get mad when they get kicked out of the starting lineup, which is fine.
So you're saying he didn't say anything directly about Parsons? Morey planned to match on parsons but when Bosh burned them by saying he would come and changing his mind last minute when Miami offered a max they had to scramble to do something with their cap. Otherwise they would've brought back the exact team that was obviously not good enough for them to get where they wanted to go. And I would say they made the right move considering how Parsons career has gone and their WCF trip

Re: Rockets match Nets offer for Donuts
If morey is seriously just not willing to sign him with the incentives (I'm assuming all star/certain amount of games and stuff like that)
Then I blame morey..if he plays up to the standards he deserves to get his incentives then he's playing well and deserves it

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/9453164/omer-asik-houston-rockets-want-play-dwight-howard-source-says this Says he doesn't want to play with or behind Dwight and that's it, just like the rest of stories I can find. This promise stuff seems like assumptions. Asik thought he was good enough for the Rockets not to need Dwight Howard and he was wrong but I don't blame him for believing that, most NBA players are rather confident

They shouldve never been in the deal in the first place, you never see rfa agree to these contracts. BJ is incompetent

I get what you are trying to say I guess but I think the Parsons thing is kinda overblown in your post. The Rockets did Parsons a favor by allowing him to get paid early. It looked like it backfired at first but turned out to be a good move to move on from him. We were looking for another star and planned on matching an offer on Parsons since we had his bird rights. Parsons was still going to be a part of it. Saying that you can't actively look for another star because you have a player on your team that thinks they are a star is kinda doing a disservice to your own team....especially since Rockets ended up going to WCF that next season. Morey had been consistent on saying that all season that we wanted to add a 3rd star, that was nothing new. I agree the Rockets aren't a destination team but not that many teams really are if you look at the league. Morey has done a good job overall and the haul that he got in the offseason might not be the best but its working so far. Sitting at #4 and having a win against the 2 top teams in your division isnt too bad.

Yes, from this thread we've determined that CBS Sports and now the Boston Herald are not legit outlets. But a random poster on some site who's been dead wrong many times before.. is legit. So I dunno. Either way, the fact that this information is out there means its possible that it factors in to some players' decisions. Rockets' fans choice to deny that there's fire behind this smoke is irrelevant.
And yes, continuing this game of 'gotcha', Morey didnt mention Parsons by name. He said he was looking for a 3rd star player, while Parsons was on the roster, and allowed him to hit RFA. But I guess technically he didnt say Parsons is not a star. Again, the spin put on it is irrelevant. They alienated a homegrown player by Morey saying something he didnt have to. Did it work out? Sure, because of injury. But they could have avoided the whole situation by simply picking up Chandler's cheap team option and rolling the dice with him as a UFA. Again, a risk that didnt pay off.

I agree with all of this but one thing: Morey had no need to imply that Parsons wasn't a star. He could have given the same token response most GMs do about looking to improve the team, and done the exact same thing. But he didn't, and it rubbed Parsons the wrong way.
re: destination team, that's a very fair point. But I'd argue that the Rockets *should* be a destination team. They consistently have capspace, they have a top 5 player in the NBA, and they have a system-friendly coach now. Players should want to go there, better players than Ryno and Eric Gordon. I think the spectre of Dwight has a lot to do with that, but I definitely think Morey has played his part too. Because either he's unfairly been the target of nasty rumors more than any other GM ever, or there's some fire behind the smoke.

It might not be allowed.. I feel there's some fine print in the CBA that would address it. It also could be kickers specific to the Nets, or playing time kickers.

Again, the Rockets intentions mean little. Morey basically said he wasn't a star, and there was no reason to do so. He alienated a player for no reason.

Meh. A "word is that..." from only only one site doesn't do much for me, also a Boston based source that probably has very little connections in Houston.it sounds like little more than a rumor and rumors that aren't widespread are usually little more than that. Find me more and I might believe it. There were 0 ESPN reports that mention it and I would hope they have more Houston connects then the Boston herald.

If Morey offered Asik a starting job for 4 years he's an idiot. Lol no one does that especially on someone as unproven as Asik. If you want to believe he would be stupid enough to do that then that's for you to decide

The one thing I will say is they should have traded Asik much sooner. Like at the beginning of the season or earlier. At that point in time he was too good to sit on the bench for the majority of every game and he knew it and wanted a trade that they didn't grant him for a year

You're not getting it. The argument here is Morey will do and say anything to get players on a deal.
Asik wasn't exactly unproven. In his last year in Chicago, he would be close to a double double anytime he played over 20 minutes. The real issue was he was behind Noah. The poison pill prevented Chicago from matching the offer, but if Asik really wanted to stay he could've gotten the same contract without the poison pill from Chicago. Chicago at that time was a much better team than Houston as well. It would've been equally silly for Asik to sign for 3 years with Houston (a treadmill team at the time) knowing Houston is chasing Howard a year later. On top of that, Asik came for cheap. $8 million a year for a starting center is just as ridiculous back then as it is now. It was pretty well recognized at the time of the signing that Asik only came to Houston for a chance to be a starter.

Re: Rockets match Nets offer for Donuts
Getting back OT
It appears that the dispute is not about going back to Houston or Calvin's report of another team (I think he misunderstood the situation and BJ wants to get back on the market to get a deal without those bonuses that don't have to be/can't be matched) but is indeed about the 6 million dollars the Rockets didn't have to match. Seems like more of a problem with his agent than anything.
I belive the Rockets could've chosen to match some (though I don't see why they would) but some of the bonuses were Nets specific so they would be voided in a match no matter what. Dmo should sue BJ for malpractice and get his 6 mil back that way because they seem shocked by the terms of the contract he told his client was good to sign.

I agree the Rockets aren't a destination team but not that many teams really are if you look at the league. Morey has done a good job overall and the haul that he got in the offseason might not be the best but its working so far. Sitting at #4 and having a win against the 2 top teams in your division isnt too bad.
I agree. I would love for them to be a destination team ha. He is also an easy target now days and every move has been over examined for the good and the bad. My main complaint about him is treating players more like assets than people but I guess that is what he felt he needed to do until he got the right people in place. It just looks bad.
Also, not sure if this has been posted yet. If so, apologies. It seems like it should have been the agent to make sure this didn't happen.

That was definitely not a cheap deal. He wanted to be a starter but GMs promising starting roles is probably not very common
