Glad Coppy is making this clear for all to see ahead of winter meetings.

Wise decision. Dansby is Derek Jeter 2.0. The face of the franchise.

Braves seem to be the most well run organization in the ATL these days.

I'm kinda sad he didn't go to WAS. Nationals would have been great next year...but giving up all those prospects to acquire SALE would have ensured a hard, swift fall from grace in a few seasons...just as the baby Braves were coming into their own.

We'd ascend for a decade just as their window would be closing. Guess we'll have to just beat 'em the old fashioned way. :box:

Why would you want him to go to the Nats? We would have to face him a lot. If not us, certainly glad he didn't go to the Nats.

While I'm also glad the Nats didn't get him there is some logic to hoping for them to give up a massive package of prospects for Sale. Would open their window for these next couple years, but it would quickly shut in the back to back years when Harper and Sale's contracts expire. That would be around the time Atlanta's window opens.

Not only did the Red Sox give up their best prospects for Sale, they are still going to pay Moncada the $30 mill owed to him when the signed him.

Exactly. Getting Sale makes a team pretty darn good in the short term. But they'd have to empty out the minor league talent to do it. Overpaying for a single player is generally a bad long-term move in baseball.

WAS would have sabotaged their future for the chance to lose to Chi Cubs for the next 3 seasons.

The slow and steady approach the Braves have embarked on is the proper way to build a champion. Not massively overpaying Frank Wren style.

I like the Rule 5 move the Braves made - picking Armando Rivero. Anyone who can get a 2.13 ERA in the PCL can pitch in the majors - even if he was 27 years old. 14 SO's per inning isn't bad. William Perez was released to make room on the 40 man roster.

Braves also lost Pitching prospect Zach Bird in Rule 5 draft, who was acquired in Olivera trade.

Don't know anything about Jackson. I might have just kept Jenkins.

Mark Bowman says that they were contemplating outright cutting Tyrell instead of Williams Perez last week to free up room on the 40 man. We probably saw Jenkins as nothing special as we once had.

I would have liked to see Jenkins in the bullpen. I get that they wanted to give him every opportunity to make it as a starter - but that never seemed realistic, imo. I can see the fascination with Jackson, but I would have preferred to see Jenkins in the Braves' pen.

Just a depth move - but I like the Lane Adams signing. 6'3 220 yet he steals 30 plus bases a year on a good percentage, has some pop, and has played mostly CF in the minors. 27 years old but if he was younger, he wouldn't have been available.

Well guess we are sticking with the catchers that we have. Castro signed with the Twins, and Castillo signed with the O's.

Amen - that's a great signing in this day and age. Granted, his OPS+ for the season was a modest 98, but for the second half of the season - it was 128. If he does that for a full season, he's an all-star.

Before the Braves signed Sean Rodriguez, they were close to a trade with the Reds for Brandon Phillips. Phillips blocked the trade with his no trade clause, he's a FA after this season and wanted an extension, but the Braves were not willing to give him a new deal.

Phillips has blocked 3 trades in the past two offseasons, to the Nats, Diamondbacks and Braves. Would have been nice to have him, but I do like the Rodriguez signing after this trade fell thru.

I'd do Blair/Wisler/Toussaint, Sims and Mader for Dozier and relief pitcher Taylor Rogers.
