And KOQ is not young and good himself?
True but you really think he's going to get much better than this? I don't. Odds are he has reached his ceiling.
There's a time to bank on potential and there's a time to lock in on sustainable value. KOQ at his current level is actually excellent and I'm tired of fantasy trades vs. supporting what is actually verifiably good quality chit in our midst. And KOQ is playing REAL BALL. He is becoming a solid piece in the MIDDLE. For me that's big. This franchise has been weak as hell in the paint and at PG for so long I'm not going to jinx our big when they are playing like this by wishing them gone as soon as they excel. I actually think it makes us look like chit fans to do that. Not directed at you in particular, but my feeling about this whole vibe that you trade him now. Based on this kind of mood this board would have lobbied to trade Oak or Mase too just because they were showing value. Value is here. Use it!

My tongue is permanently in cheek.

o quinn is still very limited and nothing more than a 15-18 mpg player off the bench.
a role player, and if they can get a first rounder it's a great deal.

I don't know, if it looks to be a late first-rounder, how many late first-rounders even become a solid 15-18mpg roleplayer? KOQ looks to have mastered that mid-range jump-shot, is running the floor better, and gives us much needed physicality--all on a cheap deal. I just don't see a ton of upside in swapping for a late-round pick.

Just quickly perusing rosters, players like Dante Exum and Trey Lyles on the Jazz, Stanley Johnson in DET, Bobby Portis on the Bulls, or the injured Cam Payne in OKC. If any of those teams wanted a veteran player on a great contract with good production NOW, then that's the kind of move I'd say we'd see.
But considering the Knicks are in contention themselves, I don't see any reason to make that move with KOQ out here contributing and locked down for next year on the super cheap. Right now the Knicks are exactly the type of team that would be looking to acquire a player like KOQ.
