Trying to decide if I'd want Okafor or not. Might give us that true secondary scoring option behind Kemba.

Trade Lamb for Okafor?

Kemba - Sesh - BRob
Bats - Sauce
MKG - Buddy
Marv - Frank - Woody
Okafor - Zeus - Doc - Hawesome

I'd then look to flip either Doc or Hawesome for a better back up SF.

if Okafar could be had for Lamb, you would have to do it.

I'm guessing a move is definitely on the cards after the axing of Harrison

Mine is on a fat, undersized veteran big that is unconditionally loved by Clifford.

So we're getting Brandon Bass. Or Kris Humphries. Or bring Ronny Turiaf out of retirement.

I feel like we need to do something but I'm getting less and less confident about what kind of move we should make. On paper, I still think we need a decent combo guard to backup/play with Kemba, but in reality every single one of our bigs other than Cody have sucked this season, so we could also probably use some help in the front court. I think we might have to just count on our bigs getting their **** together and look for the guard upgrade. Looking through the trade machine, I still think Brandon Knight is our best option. I'm not a particular fan of his and I wouldn't be thrilled by his acquisition, but I just don't see many players who are reasonably available that I think could help us that much. I still don't like the idea of adding a wing as we are already wasting one of our better players, who happens to be a wing, because Clifford still somehow hasn't figured out that he doesn't have to put an actual PF and C on the court the entire game.

In conclusion. Trade for a guy like Knight. Commit to playing small more to keep Roy and Hawes off the floor. Hope Marvin and Frank start actually converting buckets.

Yeah, no more layup lines for teams like the Pistons. I doubt it would happen, though, because Coach Clifford does not really value what a glue guy like Hansbrough can bring to the table. Offensive rebounding, for instance. Setting screens, for another. Boxing out, yes. All-out energy and intensity, no. Helping direct the defense, not really. The coach complained vociferously about lack of physical play and rebounding against Miami, but it never occurred to him to put in the one guy who could have helped--Hansbrough totaled 6 minutes in two games.

Even so, Hansbrough had a better TRB% last year, 14.2, in limited minutes, than anybody on this year's team except Jeremy Lamb. That number was unchanged from his stellar year with the Raptors in 2014-2015. Take a look at the table I posted in the
"Are We Good?" thread.

It is possible someone may offer him a contract, but not Charlotte. There were rumors over the weekend of interest from Cleveland.

Alright guys, time to get weird.

Charlotte gets: Carmelo Anthony + Justin Holiday + Marshall Plumlee

New York gets: Marvin Williams + Marco Bellineli + Spencer Hawes + lotto protected 1st

If Melo accepted being the 2nd option and bought into our system this could be an interesting team (all of those things might be unlikely).

Kemba/Sessions/Roberts
Batum/Holiday
MKG/Lamb/Graham
Melo/Frank/Wood
Cody/Roy/Plumlee

Rose/Jennings
Lee/Marco/Vujacic
Marv/Kuzminskas/Thomas
Porzingas/Hernangomez
Noah/OQuinn/Hawes

This is what hitting rock bottom looks like. Then again I'm addicted to Marvin so.....

I'd inquire about Willy though.

I feel like this trade could go one of two ways. 1) Melo acts like a bitch and ruins the chemistry and we bottom out. 2) Melo embraces being a 2nd option and buys into our system (I know this is crazy) and we make the eastern finals.

I have a strange confidence in our ability to assimilate questionable players. I actually think we could make Melo work if he had the right attitude. I wouldn't care at all about losing Marv (assuming Melo worked out), but I don't really like losing Marco. I put Marco in the trade instead of Lamb because we'd probably lose something defensively switching from Marv to Melo, so I valued Lamb's D and athleticism over Marco's shooting and off ball work.

I feel like you'd probably rather have Frank Kaminsky than Melo so....

It's not that I dislike Melo but his DNA is scoring ISO, not spacing or PnR. I see him as a bad fit on both ends esp. without Marco and Marvin pulling defenses away from Kemba, Lamb, MKG moving to PF, and Nic's playmaking. IMO Melo = efficiency and usage drops for CHA's perimeter players across the board while crowding Cody's space.

And I'd absolutely take Marvin straight up and FK @ $3.2M over Melo's ~ $31M when he's 34. Besides the extra $17 to $27M coming in handy MW and FK make life easier on CHA's usage scorers and Cody.

He has the ability to be a great fit on offense. He is good at catch and shoot and I think hed be more efficient than Marv from deep and basically everywhere on the floor in our system. The problem is whether or not he would accept being a secondary scorer and primary floor spacer instead of having the offense run through his iso's. I honestly don't think we'd be losing much spacing with that trade. Holiday isn't very good in general, but he is shooting 37% from 3.

Obviously his defense is not ideal, but if hes basically the same size as Marv and more athletic. Hed work in our switching scheme and could hold his own rebounding, but we'd be sacrificing interior D, rim protection, and toughness.

Jarrett Jack is holding auctions for teams. I think he could come in here and be an instant upgrade on the 2nd unit from Ramon Sessions. What do you guys think?
