Out of the box trade idea: Chicago sends Butler, Rondo and one of Cristiano Felicio or Bobby Portis to Boston for IT, Amir, and Zeller

Why? BC Boston may not want to pay IT 20+ million per year on his next contract, especially given the way the draft is shaping. The teams would swap all-star players. Boston takes malcontent Rondo and they take are garbage bigs/expiring contracts. No picks exchanged.

I like Bulpett, but that might be one of the worst articles I have read of his. Talk about coming away with nothing after reading it.

That may be the worst trade proposal I have seen in years.

I am not for maxing out on players during the season. I would prefer if we acquired said star player after the season.

That said, I am for incremental improvements this season. I want to make the ECF and then let the chips fall where they may. Before we have our eye on the Cavs (ignore the west. Irrelevant), we have to overtake the Raptors. That would be my focus this tade deadline season. What will we need to win the NO. 2 seed and home field against a very good raptors team in the second round?

Then, in the opffseason we can tackle what's it going to take to compete with Cleveland.

BUT make no mistake. As long as LeBron James is playing the Cavs are going to be the dominant team in the East and the favorites.

Why would we give up IT for Rondo?

That's a step back.

I would give IT his next contract at $20 mil. Why wouldn't we want to pay him that?

This trade is not about swapping IT for Rondo. It's about swapping IT for Butler and taking on Rondo as leverage: we'll take your malcontent and you take less for your all star.

There seems to be a fair number of posters that don't think it would be prudent to give IT the pay day he deserves, especially if the BK 2017 pick may end up being a PG that both demands immediate minutes and holds serious potential down the road. If you buy that argument, it opens up different approaches with trades. Could you trade IT for a different all star? If the other all star is two way player, then, on paper, you win the trade. Even though its not an apples to apples comparison, I think Butler is a better player and asset than IT. I'd suspect most Celtic fans and certainly most NBA fans would agree.

Rather than simply dismissing the trade based on an incorrect reading, it would be nice if you (and canman) actually engaged with my reasoning.

He's living and playing in obscurity down there...and always will. Even that dude's not going to get that organization above the playoff Mendoza line.

His contract is way too long brotha, I don't expct them to trade him anytime soon unless he literally declines to step on the court.

Would tgrade any1 outside of IT/Horford for AD and AD makes us an instant title contender. Dude's a monster, literally, he's the best 2 way big in the league. Maybe the best two way player.
Good assessment:

Is Nurkic really available? What do you think his price would be? I hope we are working Denver.

They probably want a lot. I'd offer like james young, jordon mikey, and the clippers 1st round pick, wolves 2017 2nd round pick.

Rondo and Bogut I get. They have shown some serious decline. But what's wrong with Howard, other than character/personality/fit questions? I wouldn't give up the farm for him, but he's having a nice season and he would fill a major need on our roster.

The Bulls aren't going to sacrifice Butler to trade Rondo. You guys need to be a bit more realistic with your trade ideas.

Agree. But Orlano will ask for too much IMO.
He will be a FA this summer.

the fact he will likely walk in the off season though means he might be available cheaper, i hear orlandos more set on moving vuc/payton than ibaka though.

As I've said before, the price for Nurkic will include taking one of Denver's veterans in the deal. They'be been trying to trade Faried for over a year now, and Chandler is also rumored to be on the block. I'm guessing that taking on long-term money will be a deal breaker for Ainge.
