That's actually pretty sad.

The Cavs dont care about the regular season but honestly they should a little more because they aren't that far behind GSW and homecourt in the finals is huge.

Not surprising considering the East is always a cakewalk for LeBron.

Can't afford to take games off in the West.

Didn't happen with Kobe and Melo tho. Besides, two time 1st team all-nba and 14-15 MVP runner-up is more than just an "all-star" player.

Okay one game, go look at the history of game 7 winning percentage and tell me homecourt doesn't matter

that's true - i should clarify - d'antoni can take all-stars that can play a team game into all time greats.

One can still make a legitimate case for Lebron as the MVP if we define the award to be the best player in the NBA. And that is my definition of the MVP, so I still think it's Lebron > Harden.

Westbrook plays 8 of the next 9 on the road against some really tough teams, if Westbrook wants to get attention and make up ground on Harden this would be a chance to really do it.

Everyone already has their opinion on who they feel is the most talented player in the league, but ask yourself, what makes Lebron the best player in the NBA THIS YEAR? Your basing it more on resume and reputation. If you look at what's going on this year alone(as everyone should), Harden has put up more impressive stats, and has lead far lesser talent to a better record than Lebrons team. Like I said, besides pre-set favoritism, Lebron doesn't have many strong arguments for MVP over Harden based on what's going on THIS YEAR.

Thats fair and I can respect that but personally I think just giving it to the best player every year is boring and I'd rather give it to the player who had the most impact during the regular season of that given season and in this case it's clearly Harden right now.

Admittedly, my way of doing it might overrate someone who might be declining as I would give that player (in this case, Lebron), a benefit of a doubt. But I would rather prefer that as opposed to rewarding players who just are not the best players (e.g. Rose in 2011).

Well, the process need not be fun. I am just a big fan of rewarding the best their due. Also, I think there are some legimate arguments on who the best players are in many years (e.g. Curry vs Lebron last season).

Stopped reading after this. I think you are in the wrong thread (and wrong board too, should be in Player Comparison board).

2 ego maniacs that only do things the way they want to do things? D'antoni has shown he can coach if the players buy in. Melo and Kobe go to the beat of their own drum, theres nothing he could have done to change that.

Are we really going to pretend that Kobe and Melo were even remotely coachable when D'Antoni got his hands on them?

I have to go with James Harden at this point. Big stats, big wins, supporting cast not world-beaters.

If the award was legitimately given to the "Most valuable" player, LeBron would basically get it every year. Put him on any team and they instantly become a 50 win team that could at least win a playoff round or two. He makes all 4 players around him better, nobody else in the league makes an impact like him.
