Nah, it was a nefarious scheme to get Big3 and Jeff to start posting again. If I'm going to start posting again, I want to bring the band back together. I wish I could get a hold of Black (Northern Ireland) and whatshisname (NetsForce), as well.

So even though no one cares, I finally test drove a couple VW's. Next up a Mk7 GTI, a Honda Accord Sport and a Genesis coupe.

You buying new or used?

Used, certified pre-owned though.

And if anyone's interested, parting ways with my Mk4 24 valve VR6 GTI haha!

It's in really good shape for it's age and mileage, needs a little TLC though. Has some work done to it, all pro shop done, but nothing outlandish that impacts reliability, it's a perfectly suitable daily driver, but would make a great weekend car.

How was the Honda Accord Sport? When I was in the market for a car a few months ago, I thought about it for a half second.

Haven't test drove it yet, probably early next week or tomorrow. I feel like it's going to be a really nice car, but it's going to leave me very underwhelmed. I do get stuck into only certain cars though, because manual is a requirement for me.

I've also given thought to overpaying for something such as a 2009 to 10, 3 series Bimmer with a 3 or 4 year full warranty. Not overpaying overall dollar amount wise to my budget, but there are a few places I'm aware of who regularly sell these cars with a truly legitimate and honorable full warranty, but they wind up like 4 or 5 grand over book value. Then again, book value is relative when not a single one of these other cars of that year still has functioning warranty.

Just really love driving and a slopbox automatic on anything other than a big luxury vehicle or truck is just not my thing. Always feel much more in control and connected to the road with a stick shift.

Maybe I'm just weird or too old school?

Mechanics must love you.

I do agree. Automatics aren't fun unless you add pedal shifters or 500HP V10 beast of an engine. One of my best friends has an Audi A7. That thing is such a luxurious ride but when he puts his foot down, it moves!

Lol, why must mechanics love me? An auto is much more likely to fail than a manual. With a manual you'll just need to eventually need to get the clutch(and likely flywheel) replaced. If you're a smooth driver who rev matches and doesn't abuse it, even your clutch should last well above 100K miles.

I didn't mean you being a bad driver. I meant you keeping the shops open. Cars are have been becoming harder and harder to work on. Car manufacturers are forcing you to go back to the dealerships to get stuff fixed.

Car repair shops will be the next industry that will succumb to automation. Might take 10-15 years with all of these older cars on the road, but yeah it's coming.

And the purist in me thinks that's sad haha.

I still love older cars. In fact I often toy with the idea of copping another older car in great shape and creating a slush fund of sorts strictly for sudden repairs and inevitable maintenance haha.

I have always wanted an e36 M3, or even a mint e30 325 coupe... :)

Nowhere near as much as I used to. In fact, I've basically stopped playing. Why?

Just curious. Pretty much the same here. I play maybe once or twice a month, but have been playing a decent amount lately. Figured it's a fun topic of conversation for myself though, if any other players were here, you know?

The last time I played was probably a year or two ago. It's bad.

But now that you mention it, I may try to get back on it.
