Kid is a gamer. Team fit/system/culture is going to be absolutely key but no doubt in my mind his game is portable.

First 30 minutes, Brooks 19, Ball 5.

Last 10 minutes, Brooks 0, Ball 10.

Well if Bill Walton had the first pick in the draft, we know who he'd pick...

Nice game by Ball tonight, a couple of big 3's and 2 big drive and finish in traffic at the end as well. He uses his long arms well, doesn't need much space to create a shot at the rim.

What I also liked is he was much more assertive, less likely to pass the ball off too early. I think we will start to see that more now as they finish and head into the tournament.

He is very competitive (not taking an indirect shot at Fultz).

He's trying to be very flashy on every single possession , even when he dribbles the ball across the court and passes to the next teammate, plays that don't lead to any action

I think its the way he passes too. He adds a little extra on every pass, like hes playin AND 1 basketball...

Some key things I saw from Ball and UCLA/Oregon today.

UCLA is more than Lonzo Ball.
There big man blew so many dunks/layups...
I think his passing and overall athleticism is overrated.
It's hard to make an assessment about defense this game though.
He settles quite a lot for his stepback 3. In the NBA, he's going to have a shorter lease than at UCLA and that stepback 3 wont be tolerated imo.

if he's shooting that % in the NBA from deep he'll have a green light. UCLA is Ball and Leaf. The rest can't defend and are streaky. They have very little chance of winning a title. He was very lazy on defense especially early. He picked up the intensity but he showed me enough versus Fultz to know that he's a very capable defender with great size and length.

1 assist?
How is that possible?

Got the win.. but 1 assist? Totally out of character
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team

What? His game is usually described as the complete opposite, people usually complain he doesn't show enough flash and just makes simple plays. Now he's too flashy?

He had an impressive drive by the stretch, going by Ennis and finishing between two bigs, his size helps him in those situations even though he has bad flexibility and hips
He didnt show much shake, he is a straight-line type of driver, which is okay, but still doesnt come close to Fultz' ability.

He's shown flashes with plays here and there but I don't think he's built with a complete take over switch.

I guess I stand corrected.

Oregon forced the ball out of his hands for one. Also he should have had more but teammates missed open looks and Hamilton even blew a breakaway layup on one of Lonzo's famous outlet passes.

Part of me feels like his funky release is going to be an issue in the NBA. It's super quick, but I don't know. I could see it getting blocked a lot with longer defenders on him.

I hope not. if you hear the kid in interviews though he has none of his dad's bravado and Lonzo seems like a pretty grounded humble dude. I think as long as he hits the league his pops won't have much to say. There might be a comment here and there about Lonzo not being "used correctly" if he doesn't get tick. But nothing that I think will sway Lonzo one way or the other.
