Career Playoff Avgs:
MP--PTS--RB--AST--STL--BLK--%TS
42--28--9--7--2--1--55%

Spurs Series (2007): -- Lost Series
MP--PTS--RB--AST--STL--BLK--%TS
43--22--7--7--1--0.5--43%

Mavs Series (2011): -- Lost Series

Spurs Series (2013): -- Won Series

Spurs Series (2014): -- Lost Series
MP--PTS--RB--AST--STL--BLK--%TS
38--28--8--4--2--0.4--68%

Given the above data, the ONLY outlier here is the 2011 series against the Mavs where he played below his averages (in scoring only). He's played well to his averages during each Spurs series, winning 1 out of 2; where 2 of those instances (2007 & 2014), the Spurs were clearly head and shoulders above the entire league. Outside of the Finals against the Mavs in 2011, he's been an absolute workhorse and the model of consistency in the postseason.

How is 2011 the only outlier? He wasn't so good in 2007.

The point remains LeBron being "too much up and down in the playoffs" in regard to performance, essentially inconsistent, is false.

Remember we are talking about GOAT here , not some random all star. Lebron's performance in 07/11/13 were not GOAT standards. In 07 and 11 he was bad and in 13 he had negative on/offs while shooting a below team average. If you want to give him a pass, i am ok but to me he is clearly not up to Jordan's level.

I'm not making an argument for LeBron being GOAT. I'm only responding to your statement regarding him being "too up and down" in the playoffs, which is false lol. Earlier in the thread, I said MJ will forever be GOAT and LeBron lost his shot years ago; however, folks in this thread are speaking on MJ as if he's flawless and has never failed, which is also false.

oh ok i think you misunderstood my point, I just pointed it out that because his finals performance was too "up and down" comparing to GOAT standard. Those were still all star, even superstar numbers in general , just not GOAT numbers.

For the millionth time, Kobe and now LeBron will never be close to Michael Jordan. I know that triggers massive cognitive dissonance in today's ADD society but too bad. Jordan was 6/6 in the NBA Finals as THE guy. Not to mention how he played the game. If we're getting real here, LeBron isn't even in Kobe's league in terms of overall mastery of the game. If we want to properly rate LeBron, he's Dominique Wilkins with a few rings. #MambaOut

Not true.
I'm in my late 30s and I've watched MJ in his prime and Jordan in his prime.

Until the 2014-15 finals, there was NO doubt Jordan was the GOAT, and then the transition started. Lebron capped it off in the 2015-16 finals with that performance.

This argument is similar to the Kobe vs Lebron argument.

People have chosen sides early, and refuse to acknowledge what Lebron has done over his career to surpass Kobe and now Jordan.

Now people are being stubborn to try to save face instead of admitting that Lebron is indeed the best.

I too was in a similar position with my belief that Tim Duncan was the greatest post-Jordan player (not Kobe, no Shaq, no Lebron). Kobe and Shaq were knocked off the list relatively early; But after the 2014 performance, there's no doubt Lebron is a better all-round player than Duncan and best since Jordan. The following finals, it became glaringly obvious to objective fans Lebron is indeed the greatest basketball player of all time.

Acknowledging Lebron is the greatest doesn't make Jordan chopped liver. He's still the 2nd greatest player of all time, and the greatest player from the 80s and 90s.

ahahahahaah. 10/10 on the troll scale. realgm has become a joke with delusional kids and trolls like this lmao

When was the last time Kobe led both teams in a playoff series in every statistical category? Oh, never? And you want to talk about overall mastery of the game?

Can we tell for sure that a term like "GOAT" is actually accurate and proper?Times change radically in sports and we can't really say that there is a player that sums up as the best in each different category of the criteria used in disscussions like that.Russel is the greatest champion.Kareem is the all time leading scorer third rebounder won 6 champions.MJ was the ultimate winner.They dominated in different eras and they were the Greatest of Their Time.Lebron is the greatest of this era.Can we really compare these different times and renounce a GOAT;

He's already in that elite Jordan tier. To me that's the rarified air of Jordan, Magic, Bird, Kareem, Wilt, Russell, and Duncan. Arguments can also be made for Shaq, Kobe, Hakeem, and probably a couple others that are slipping my mind right now.

Whether he's better than Jordan, eh, who knows. To me just getting into that elite tier is good enough.

I know. It's the truth. Go compare Nique's stats to LeBron's, and their impact on the game at peak strength. Aside from assists, the parallels are stronger than most people want to cop to.

But that couldn't be, right? I mean, LeBron HAS to be the heir apparent to Jordan. Otherwise we should stop watching the NBA. But we anoint Kobe, LeBron and whoever is next because the alpha dog player role must be filled.

When LeBron is finished he will be the GOAT. No doubt about it.

Never had a hall of fame coach like Phil nor the crazy talented cast with hall of famers like Pippen and Rodman.

Depends on how many more chips Bron can get. And if he beats the Warriors + KD even once, then this will become a legit discussion for a long time.

No.

As someone who has seen both at their peaks...

Lebron is All-Time top 10, maybe top 3 depending on what he does the next few years.

Michael Jeffrey Jordan is PERFECT in the Finals.
In the playoffs and in big games, he is every bit as good as Lebron and then some so Lebron is still far behind him in the playoffs/finals even though Lebron has great numbers, these days usage rates and teams using role players to box out for their stars to get rebounds is much more of a blatant tactic than back then.

Also.... defensively he is Kawhi/Pippen level ALL game in big games and offensively he is UNSTOPPABLE, its ridiculous. Lebron needs 2 other 20ppg to be able to have enough fire power... well Jordan... just needed reliable defenders and 3pt shooters and he took over the load every game with Pippen supporting him, who has never been a volume scorer.

But Lebron is All-time great so kids who missed out on Jordan, be glad that one day you will get to tell about him to your kids.

lmao. Phil and Pippen were nobodies until they met MJ. MJ developed Pippen and even Pippen would acknowledge. You can hate MJ all you want for whatever reason but at least do some research before posting stupid stuff and making yourself look dumb af lol. BTW, Pippen was great as a sidekick but don't act like he was MJ's savior lol. Rodman was great at rebounding with literally ZERO offensive presence dummy.
